What is Parental Alienation? When a parent tries to “alienate” a child from his or her other parent during a relationship breakdown, the goal may be for the child to reject their other parent. Commonly, such parents will often display behaviour such as: • Making inappropriate comments about the other parent. • Reducing contact for no reason with the other parent and their family. • Making a child pick sides between parents. • Making false allegations of abuse. • Asking unnecessary questions about the other parent. • Not involving the other parent in health/school issues. • Making the child feel guilty about wanting to have contact with the other parent.
What can you do if you are the alienated parent? If false or serious allegations are made against a parent, it is essential that legal advice is sought as soon as possible, from a specialist family law advisor. Where it is recognised that a child has been

manipulated, the Court will place that child’s welfare above their wishes and feelings.
What can a parent do to prevent parental alienation? • Speak positively about the other parent and the child’s forthcoming contact with them. • Continue to promote contact between the child and the family of the other parent. • Explain the importance of a child having contact with both parents. • Avoid demanding every detail of contact with the other parent. • Seek mediation to help deal with any hostile feelings towards the other parent. For more information about any of the issues raised in this article please contact Sandeep Sandhu, Solicitor at Spratt Endicott on 01295 204154 or email ssandhu@se-law.co.uk.

May Days
long weekend away, or maybe go to the park, visit a stately home or have a day at the beach.
There’s a lot to like about May – weather’s warm, flowers are blooming, birds singing and both early mornings and late evenings are light and lovely – so many opportunities to enjoy life to the full!
With two Bank Holidays – Mondays 1st and 29th – there’s even more free time to relax and unwind with the family; to have a

With the school half-term holiday at the end of the month as well, and if – like me you’re watching the pennies, then finding fun activities to do with the kids is always a challenge! Here are some tried and tested ways to spend a day, without costing the earth:
Den day – if you have a garden, this takes on a whole new scale! Create with children aged 2-10, best with a mixed age group to

share ideas. You can pretend to be prehistoric people, or out camping somewhere with wild animals – whatever they want to imagine! You’ll need: • Old bedlinen and sleeping bags, old curtains – anything that will drape over furniture • Clothes pegs - to fix these in place, without damaging anything. • Torches, a picnic or pretend food and plastic plates, soft toys or toy dinosaurs which can be ‘creatures that roam the outside world’! Little children will spend lots of time going in and out of their den, usually fill it with all the ‘supplies’ they’ll need; why not use torches to make shadow puppets – the only limit is your imagination, and it costs absolutely nothing!

to enjoy!
Miniature gardens – these can be made from recyclables or bits of safe, non-toxic plants, so with very little children you can supply ‘safe’ materials and help them to create. You’ll need: • Takeaway trays or shallow ice cream tubs • Modelling clay or playdough – or thick mud if you prefer! • ‘Plants’ – coloured cotton wool, twigs, moss, bits of leaves and grass • Foil to create a pond, string and glue to help everything stay together • Small stones for a rockery, corrugated cardboard strips for edging, lolly sticks for fencing, doll’s house furniture for ‘on the patio’ Half-fill the plastic tray with your damp mud or modelling clay, and level or shape to create the terrain for your garden. Shape trees out of painted cotton wool with twigs as the trunk, make flowers from sweet wrappers, plant grass or build a rockery or patio from little stones. Have a competition for the craziest, or most realistic, or most colourful – and the gardens will keep for a few days if you pop the lids back on the tubs to prevent them drying out.

A Remarkable Season at Brackley Town
As the football season's end approaches we can reflect upon a remarkable season at Brackley Town. While a Top Five finish in National League North appears to be beyond reach - just - a Top Eight finish in this company is no small achievement. National League North is by common consent its strongest ever and such an exciting division with many former league sides jostling to get back. Half of the teams are averaging over 1000 for home gates with Stockport County leading the way averaging over 3000 through the Edgeley Park turnstiles. Gates at St James Park are well up on last season. The highest attendance was unsurprisingly for the FA Cup replay against League One Gillingham when 1654 supporters crammed into St James Park to witness Brackley's stunning 4-3 victory on live TV. The game turned hat-trick man and midfielder Jimmy Armson into an overnight star and made him the centre of attention by scouts from many league teams. The good news for Brackley Town fans is that Armson has rejected all offers from elsewhere and committed to another season at Brackley. Alongside a successful league campaign, Saints reached the 2nd round of the FA Cup for only the second time in

the club's history, bowing out eventuallky to League Two Blackpool, and reached the quarter-final stage of the FA Trophy losing narrowly at York City. Manager Kevin Wilkin is busy building his squad for next season. Along with Jimmy Armson, a number of key players from this season have been signed onto contract for next season already and Wilkin will be looking to add further experience and quality to his squad to ensure a bigger push for a play-off place next time around. Full details of the remaining fixtures and social evnts at the club are on the club website.

Summer’s coming - beach beckons! Ok, so we all know that the quickest way to get a bikini body is simply to…. put on a bikini! But there’s a bit of essential preparation required for that all-important glow of confidence that’s essential to wear it with style! What you weigh is nowhere near as important as the way you wear it – a big smile is the very best accessory for any outfit, whatever your size or shape. My Summer routine is so very simple – increase the exercise, cut out the junk, drink more water. Fruit and vegetables provide so many essential nutrients to help you look and feel your best, so why not combine them, and make juices or fruit smoothies part of your daily routine. Getting enough sleep and making time to relax and do something you enjoy, really does help you look and feel better, and reducing stress helps to regulate your blood sugar, making it easier to eat right.

Once you’ve got your body looking the best it can be, add the finishing touches – gently remove all the dry skin from feet, knees and elbows, then moisturise and depilate, maybe add a touch of fake tan to help nature along a little! Remember the SPF – use factor 15 on your face every day to slow down the sun’s ageing effects – and make sure to protect your skin from midday sun, even when in the UK. There are so many swimwear styles to choose from, with cleverly cut bikinis and swimsuits which flatter every figure, and if you add a sheer sarong and some pretty sandals, you’ll wow at the beach, no matter what!

Now that Spring is well and truly underway, the native animals and birds living in our parks, gardens and wild areas are busy breeding, bringing up the next generation whilst nature is kindest and food supplies are plentiful. The warm sunshine heralds the arrival of insects to pollinate fruit blossom, garden plants and the early flowering crops, with bees working hard to collect nectar. Birds have been nesting awhile, enjoying the plentiful crop of available insects, with garden favourites such as the blackbird, song thrush, sparrow and robin bringing up clutches offluffy-feathered fledglings. As with other young animals, if you find these tiny birds out of the nest, try not to touch them so that the parents will come back with food – they continue caring for their young for several weeks after they have made the brave step into the big world beyond their nest.

Wildlife in May
Baby rabbits are appearing above ground, perfect little miniatures of their parents, enjoying the fresh, green shoots on roadside verges, unworried by the constantly thundering traffic. Ducklings can be seen, paddling merrily along behind their proud mothers, along streams and canals, stopping to preen their downy feathers in the sunshine. Watch out for swans and their cygnets, when you’re out feeding the ducks or walking along riverbanks and towpaths – they become very protective when they have young, and can attack anyone they think may be a problem! Help the wildlife out by planting colourful flowering plants in your garden, and reducing your use of chemicals, such as pesticides – there are many organic alternatives or oldfashioned tricks to keep the pests away, and help the wildlife around you flourish this month.

Japanese Quinces (Chaenomeles species) (see above picture), produce their flowers early to mid spring, sometimes with a second lesser flush later in the season. They will instantly brighten a north-facing wall, fence or evergreen hedge. Flower choices include white, pink, red and orange, usually with bright yellow stamens.
Becoming more popular are the Epimediums (see picture below). This group of ground cover plants includes many evergreen varieties. They thrive in shade, with dainty leaves and very delicate little flowers that hang over

Kitchen Garden At this time of year, there are extra jobs that are vital in the vegetable plot. Protect carrots from carrot fly using fleece. Drape it over or form a vertical frame to surround them.
