Do the All Winter long, our bodies have been hidden under layers of cosy clothes; as the only viable alternative to hibernation, we’ve been layering up with warm coats and thick tights, before even venturing outdoors. Then along comes Spring, and it all has to change – as temperatures rise, we have to summon up the courage to reveal our pale limbs and let them see sunlight….. like a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis. I’m the sort of girl who could wear jeans all year round, rather than encounter the great leg debate (is it a tights day, or no tights?) but this year, I’m going to be embracing the Spring Thing – and here are my top tips. • Start gently – by focusing on looking after you. Make time to
Thing!! exercise and get plenty of sleep, to look and feel your best. • Keep well hydrated - aim for more water-based drinks rather than tea or coffee, and try to reduce alcohol consumption • Get the vitamins and minerals you need - try to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and home-cooked meals made with fresh and frozen ingredients, as they’re richer in nutrients than processed foods. • Exfoliate – if your skin is dry, use a gentle scrub which also nourishes the skin. Focus on those tougher areas such as elbows, knees and feet - for best results, apply a really good moisturiser just before going to bed. • De-fuzz those legs – whichever

way you choose, it’s all about the upkeep. Shaving every few days, waxing every few weeks, and all the other methods in between. How can mediation reduce the cost of divorce? When a couple reaches the difficult decision to separate, it can be hard to see how best to deal with the breakdown of the relationship. For example, there may be children to consider and financial matters to discuss.

Plenty to do in April! As ever, the month begins with the pranks and silliness of April Fools’ Day on Sunday 1st – although since this is also Easter Day, the easiest trick to play would be the Easter Egg hunt where the bunny may have forgotten to hide the eggs first…?! Remember, you’re the fool if you play a trick after 12 noon, so get pranking early, and keep it friendly – they might get you next year!
Another well-earned Bank Holiday follows on 2nd, so there’s a little more precious time to share with the family or to spend in the garden. Plenty of local point-to-points take place on Easter Monday, or why not have an active day – trampolining, climbing, biking or swimming? With the school holidays continuing well into the month,
there’s plenty to see and do – with lambing days at local farms, special events for children at National Trust properties, baby animals to meet at farm parks, or my favourite activity of all – pick a sunny day, add a bunch of children, a hastily thrown-together picnic and a lovely long walk – and enjoy! This year, Shakespeare’s Birthday festivities are in full swing ahead of the big day – the main celebration is being held on Saturday 21st, with a carnival parade, Birthday lunch and plenty more, in the Bard’s home town of Stratford-upon-Avon. 23rd April is St George’s Day – celebrating the patron saint of England, a day for pride in being English and the diversity and variety that we all bring. The English flag – the red cross on a white background which is the
cross of St George, will be flown with pride from churches and public buildings. As the month began with food – chocolate and more chocolate, so it draws to a close with yet more – it’s Brackley Festival of Food on Saturday 29th! This popular event is now in its 10th year, and as always, there will be something for everyone – from traditional favourites such as cakes, local meats, cheeses and preserves, to curries, crêpes, waffles and sweets – I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!

Fund Raising for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) – Buckingham Relay for Life 2018 Team Generation Mix Charity Night & Other Fundraising Events I’m sure that most, if not all of us, know someone, either family or friend, who have been diagnosed with one form of cancer or another, causing pain and suffering to themselves and no end of distress to their loved ones. Cancer is a vicious disease which knows no bounds, and whilst awareness and treatment have improved considerably over recent years, there is still a very long way to go to find a significant cure. This year as a group of friends with our families we have entered a team for in the Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Relay for Life event, to be held at Bourton Meadow Academy, Buckingham over the weekend 22nd/23rd September 2018. Our team is called “Generation Mix” and consists of three generations, ranging from OAP’s down to toddlers.
As part of our fundraising efforts for CRUK we are arranging a Charity Event ‘Oh what a night’, to be held in the newly re-furbished Ballroom of The Villiers Hotel, Buckingham on the evening of Friday 15th June 2018. This will (hopefully!) be our main fundraiser and brief details are as follows; • 7.00 p.m. start for 7.30 Dinner • Set 3-course meal (with vegetarian option) • Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons Tribute Band “The Other Guys” – for the younger ones amongst you, think The Jersey Boys music! • Raffle & Auction • Tickets £50 a head Tables for 10 people are available, as are individual tickets, so if you felt able to support our efforts, perhaps by making up a table with friends?, it would obviously
