As we gather tonight for the 2024 Champion of the Year "Who Wunnit" Gala, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible year we've had at Best Buddies Delaware. None of this would have been possible without each of you — your commitment to our mission has made a lasting impact, and for that, we are truly grateful
This past year, we’ve made huge strides in fostering inclusion and building meaningful friendships for individuals with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) We now have 30 active school chapters across Delaware, creating safe and supportive spaces for students to connect and grow together.
Over the last 12 months, we hosted 180 inclusive events, bringing people together for shared experiences that celebrate the power of friendship. We organized two Ambassador Trainings to equip individuals with IDD with essential public speaking and interview skills, empowering them to share their voices with confidence.
One of the highlights of our year was the Friendship Walk, where we shattered the Delaware fundraising record, raising an incredible $46,500! We also celebrated together at our Buddy Ball Prom, hosted an elementary inclusivity training, and continued to break down barriers and promote inclusion in our community!
These accomplishments are only the beginning Your dedication, generosity, and passion are what allow Best Buddies Delaware to thrive As we look back on all that we’ve achieved together, we are filled with hope and excitement for the future. Thank you for being part of this movement. Tonight, we celebrate not only the Champions but each and every one of you who have helped us create a more inclusive world.
