Sleep Train announced that the closing of 2011 marked a milestone year for Sleep Train’s award-winning Foster Kids Program. The West Coast’s number one mattress store collected more than 160,000 important material items for foster children including clothing, pajamas, shoes, school supplies, cash and at the holidays – gifts and toys, for a 60% increase in year over year donations. This marks the most successful year for Sleep Train’s Foster Kids Program since its beginning in 2008.

“Our organization’s success depends on the generosity of community members and companies like Sleep Train. The support we receive from donation drives throughout the year is invaluable in helping us reach our goal of giving California’s foster children a stable life,” said Nancy Murphy, Director of Adoptions and Foster Care in Northern California, Kinship Center - a Member of Seneca Family of Agencies. “The joy on a foster child’s face when receiving new shoes or opening a gift during the holidays is priceless, and for that, we are truly thankful.” In addition to these items, Sleep Train also broke records raising over $500,000 at its annual Charity Golf Classic. The money raised at this event helps provide assistance to foster youth aging out of the foster care system to further their

education after high school and obtain independent living skills support. “We’re thrilled to report the tremendous results of our efforts to help the regions’ foster children and their families,” said Terry Horsley, vice president of brand strategy for Sleep Train. “We are humbled by the kindness and openhandedness of individuals, families, businesses, and organizations in California and overjoyed to be able to contribute to our community in a way that will help it grow, thrive and position at-risk children for a successful future.”

The most successful year to date for the company’s Foster Kids Program, Sleep Train attributes its record-breaking donations to the generosity of local businesses, organizations and community members who supported the Sleep Train Foster Kids

Program efforts. Donations were distributed to the over 60,000 foster children in California by Sleep Train’s 19 foster care partner organizations. Sleep Train hosts six annual drives and its annual Charity Golf Classic event to obtain items and raise cash for foster kids in the region. The company started 2012 with its annual Pajama Drive for foster children on now through February 26th.
