The Middle East is one of the fastest growing sectors, and dominated the World’s Best category. Emirates Palace Spa was awarded World’s Best Hotel Spa, and Talise Ottoman Spa at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray was awarded World's Best Resort Spa. The All-men's Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh at Kingdom Centre and Al Faisaliah Spa by ESPA at Al Faisaliah Hotel Riyadh walked away with World Best Male Spa and World’s Best Female Spa respectively. Even with such a strong performance, it was not enough to secure World’s Best Spa Destination, which went to Maldives. All things considered, there’s never been a better time to head off into the world and indulge in some of the finest, luxury spa offerings, and this special edition is the first step to doing just that!

2016 was only the second year that the annual World Spa Awards was held, but it has already grown in both reputation and reach. This year’s prestigious Gala Ceremony was held at the highly renowned Forte Village Resort in Sardinia, Italy. Building on the success of last year’s event in Vietnam, providing incredible networking opportunities for the Spa industry’s biggest players and influencers.

Forte Village Resort proved to be an excellent venue for the red carpet affair. An award-winning destination itself – it too was awarded World’s Best Wellness Retreat on the night – it is set on 47-hectares of pristine tropical land on the idyllic Sardinian south coast. A night of awards, accolades, glitz and glam, the Gala Ceremony was held on Sunday, 4 September, and comprised a cocktail reception, gala dinner and ceremony, and a thrilling celebratory party. The night’s big winners included Talise by Jumeirah, the World's Best Spa Hotel Brand; QMS MediCosmetics, World's Best Spa Brand; Lanserhof Tegernsee, World's Best Medical Spa; and many others. The event highlighted just how much the industry has grown, and what an enormous role it plays in the hospitality industry.
