- AMBER STENSEN, OREGON CITY CHIT CHAT

OREGON CITY CHIT CHAT FACEBOOK ONLINE COMMUNITY Amber Stensen started Oregon City Chit Chat because she saw a need for a platform to share community events, her vision was a group to host fun, informative posts that engage residents and local businesses. What started as a project to bring support to neighbors and share resources, Oregon City Chit Chat has grown to over 15,000 members, growing by 675% in the last 18 months. Amber invited Joanne Coy to help moderate the group when growth became far more than she could manage between school, parenting, her job and an internship. The third admin to this powerhouse is mostly behind the scenes but just as important, Michael Lell. Despite being an online platform, Oregon City Chit Chat is a community group that supports many local causes and businesses, it has been a platform for creating lasting friendships and reuniting family members and lost pets. It has come to the aid of those in need and it’s a primary source of news and information for many residents of Oregon City.

BEST SCENIC VIEW WILLAMETTE FALLS Willamette Falls is the 2nd largest waterfall by volume in the USA. It drops thirty five feet and meanders 1,500 feet across the Willamette River. For thousands of years the falls provided Native Americans with an excellent source of salmon, lamprey, and other species of fish. In the mid 19th century European and American emigrants built mills along the river spurring the area’s economic growth. Electricity generated by the falls was the first in the world to be transmitted over a “long distance.” The dam is still operated by Portland General Electric to this day. The most well known spots for viewing the falls are along the McLoughlin Promenade, at the scenic overlook on 205, and at the Museum of the Oregon Territory. The falls are at the center of historic efforts to restore public access and to establish the west coast’s first National Heritage Area. rediscoverthefalls.org wfheritage.org
