Affiliate marketing is one of the most profitable online businesses because a person can start with little or no money. Many affiliate marketers struggle with creating their first affiliate website, where to market their website, and how to get their first sales. With affiliate marketing, you are promoting other people's products online in order to receive a commission or percentage of the sale. The following are some newbie affiliate marketing tips to follow when creating and promoting your first website. You will want to keep in mind that there are no super affiliate marketers who have just so happened to get rich overnight. Super affiliate marketers do a lot of planning, testing, and implementing to see what works. They have often spent many years working hard, and building and marketing websites. Remember that affiliate marketing takes patience, hard work and commitment to stick with it. 1. Before you set up your website or blog, you will need to decide on a product to promote. You will want to look for a product that is popular, and pays a good commission. Take time to research the competition, and possibly what other affiliates are doing to promote the product. Set up an example website, and join several affiliate companies. The top ones are Linkshare.com, CJ.com, google.com/ads/affiliatenetwork/, and Clickbank. You can also find CPA or click per action products at Neverblue.com and Azoogleads.com. You will want to have at least a blog with a few related posts, or a main website for the companies to look at so that they can approve you for their program. 2. Once you have been approved, start creating your website by adding content and your special affiliate links. When your website is complete, start doing keyword research. Optimize your website with the keywords you have found that are relevant to your website. Find keywords that have low competition, and a fair number of searches every month. I like to use Google's keyword research tool, and SEOBook's free tools. Get at least 20 - 30 good long tail keywords and start to write articles about your product. Submit them to several article directories, and remember to add links back to your website in the author's resource box. 3. If you want to try pay per click, try to start small. The important things are to be sure that your ads will match your landing page, and your keywords are all relevant to the product. Pay per click can be expensive when you generate a lot of clicks and get no sales. Watch your pay per click campaign very carefully. In addition, consider investing in keyword and pay per click report tracking software like Optimize My Site. You will need to know for sure which keywords and which ads are converting or generating sales for you. 4. Take advantage of social networking like Digg, and others. Addthis.com is a great site with many social networking sites. Add these buttons to each page of your website so that visitors can
bookmark them too. 5. Create RSS feeds, and consider keeping in touch with your customers by adding opt-in forms. Feedburner and Aweber are great for creating mailing lists. Follow the newbie affiliate marketing steps above, and keep moving forward. Read as much as you can about affiliate marketing, and get tips from the pros. I have a long list of bookmarks, forums, and other online resources that help me out in a bind. Keep working at it, and don't give up. You are bound to become successful.
