Curtain Bangs
by Expert Contributors Michele Quinn & Brittany Naab, Owners of Blush Salon
If you’ve been online at all the past few months, you’ve probably come across a new and adaptable hair trend: curtain bangs! All the TikTokers are obsessed.
Think of curtain bangs as if your old-school straight-across bangs grew out to your cheekbones and you split them down the middle, to create a face-framing look that’s endlessly chic. Not to mention a little more noncommittal, as far as bangs go.
Let’s dig a little deeper! In the last year, any length of hair is in as long as it is dramatic and that is why curtain bangs are it! The big question is: Are these fitting for your face shape? So if you’re worried that your face shape isn’t cut out for bangs, think again.
Curtain bangs add dimension to round faces, as straight across bangs add fullness. Side-swept bangs create more softness, which is especially helpful if you have a strong jawline. Oval face shapes can wear just about any bang, so get crazy and just go all in!
Curtain bangs can also go off-center, creating an illusion of a side part style. Unlike straight across bangs, curtain bangs are a ‘70s-inspired fringe, parted in the middle to frame the face.
The bottom line: Curtain bangs are customizable to fit any face shape. The up-keep for curtain bangs is sometimes tough, not knowing when to head back for a trim or even how to style them at home.
Knowing how you can recreate the look at home is most important, so don’t be afraid to ask your stylist for a mini lesson on how to blow them dry, or when you should come back to maintain your new look.
Consider this the push you needed to give them a try!
