December Toscana Student of the Month!
The December Toscana Student of the Month is Audrey Ciarmoli, a 7th-grade student at the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur. Audrey received a Certificate of Achievement and a gift certificate from Toscana Modern Italian Steakhouse, our Sponsor of this program.
When people who know Audrey think of her, the first word that probably comes to mind is dance! She started dance at age 6, and has been taking dance lessons at From the Top Dance Studio in Newtown Square ever since. That is where she found her true love for all types of dance. Besides enjoying herself so much that it doesn’t even seem like hard work, Audrey also has a natural ability for dance, which really shows when she performs at competitions with her dance studio’s team.
Audrey takes jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, tap, modern and ballet classes, and she also volunteers to help with two other classes that are offered: the class for ages 6–8 and the special needs class for children of all abilities, which she finds the most rewarding. Audrey also loves taking part in dance at her school, where she is a part of the Notre Dame Middle School Dance Company.
In fact, according to her mom, sometimes Audrey doesn’t get home from the studio until 9 o’clock at night, but she gets right to work on her homework before going to bed. That kind of dedication to her studies is evident when you learn that Audrey is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She is also a member of the Student Council at her school.
Audrey also helps out at her church, St. John Neumann. She's a volunteer at the Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) camp, which welcomes children of all abilities, including those with developmental, intellectual, sensory, physical or behavioral disabilities.
