I am so excited to present the April issue {3rd edition} of The Best Wedding Sites Magazine. This issue focuses on Spring pastels including bubble gum pink, mint green and robin’s egg blue. And, this month on my daily blog, Brenda's Wedding Blog, I featured the third round of the Wedding Vendor Challenge with 7 vendor teams from across the US that put together amazing creations. This month’s challenge required the teams to create a bridal shower tablescape with a dessert display {and of course the ideas showcased can also be used for weddings and/or any type of party}. Like the previous two challenge months, I have great DIY downloads for you from each photo shoot - both as downloads and at home creations with a simple list of supplies. Each month as the photos from the challenges start coming into my inbox I am just astounded at the creativity of the team members. I am honored to be given the opportunity to work with each of you and showcase your work to my readers. In this issue, I’m featuring the top 5 Handmade "Spring" gift picks from fellow wedding pros and bloggers plus Real Weddings. And, there’s so much that’s new - including a Spring Shopping section, cocktail recipes, a wedding book feature, and an AMAZING Giveaway for my readers, you will love the prizes being awarded I even have an exclusive photo shoot that Pamela of Party Starters created just for this issue based on the color palette but with a little twist. Instead of bubble gum pink with the robin’s egg blue and mint green - Pamela introduces a new color. And, I have to give a special thank you to the contributors that have helped make this issue super special. We’re joined by Corrine of Buds and Blooms, Jo Gartin and Rani Totman of St. Pucchi wedding gowns. Enjoy . . . xoxo
Brenda
PS: I’d like to give a special thank you to Samantha of Papermints {www.papermints.com} who has helped me behind the scenes in designing the layout for the Real Weddings and Wedding Vendor Challenge spreads.
A Special Note For Vendors: The May Wedding Vendor Challenge is already underway and there’s a few slots left at the time of publication for a few more teams. If you are interested in participating in the May challenge or reserving a spot for June, please let me know. And, if you would like information on advertising in either the magazine, blog or wedding directory, please email me at bestweddingsites{at}gmail{dot}com

Jo Gartin’s
Spring Wedding Tips andTrends [ by ThisNext lifestyle tastemaker and celebrity wedding stylist, Jo Gartin ] www.thisnext.com/by/Jo%20Gartin
Jo Gartin joins us with some spring wedding trends and wedding planning tips • All my wedding menus are taking advantage of the local farmers market produce boasting fresh organic ingredient and artful presentations. • Neutral color palettes are big this year... shades of greys and taupes venturing into mushrooms and eggplant are the perfect foundation and allow you to add punches of color throughout. Coral and fuchsia are prominent accent colors this spring. • For an upcoming wedding the outdoor cocktail lounge will be scattered with an abundance of potted herbs in assorted ceramics that the bride made in pottery class. Each pot has a love note written to her groom on the underside. These herbs will add a wonderful scent and I have the florist replanting them in the couples garden after their big day! 8 | ISSUE 03
• I love for wedding receptions to feel like one giant, decadent dinner party. Bringing in home accents to personalize a wedding creates a warm and intimate atmosphere. Coffee table books, vintage games eclectic candles add charm to your celebration and will be sweet reminders of your wedding day afterwards when they are scattered throughout your home. • Print out your wedding ceremony and paste it into a keepsake journal for your officiant to read from during your ceremony. Include your vows too, if you have decided to write them to each other. Take your journal on your honeymoon writing all your wedding day memories while they are freshest... • Keep a list or have your DJ put together a playlist of all the tunes played on your special day.... soundtracks are great keepsakes!

Adding Colour to Your Wedding Trousseau [ by Corrine O'Neill of Buds and Blooms ] www.etsy.com/shop/CorrineONeill It is spring in the northern hemisphere which means colour has returned to our gardens and in our wardrobes! Put away the dark and break out the light and the bright! Bridal fashions can also take a clue from the return of colour on the runway. Adding colour to your wedding day “look” can run the gamut of donning a coloured gown to simply adding hues to your accessories. One only has to look to Kate Spade’s recent wedding collection “Wedding Belles” to see pops of colour added to bridal fashions with aqua jewels and bright pink hosiery! Perhaps donning a coloured frock or brightly hued tights is not your thing; you can still add pops of colour to your accessories from your head to your toes!
Accessorize your Gown: Tie on a sash in your favourite colour to add a splash of colour to your look! Like a headpiece, sashes are a great way to add colour because they are easily removed and can be worn for only cocktails if you want to stay with a traditional look for the rest of your day. Belts not your thing? Pin on an oversized bloom, like this bubble gum pink broach, to make a statement in full colour. Brighten up your Shoes: Sure you can get some gorgeous coloured shoes, but if you don’t think you’re ever going to wear mint green pumps again, you can still add colour to your feet. Turn a pair of neutral shoes into couture, one-of-a-kind creations by adding shoe clips in your colours! These ones in mint green feature chiffon ribbon flowers and vintage sequins in mint green.
Here are some of my favourite suggestions: Start with your head! Headpieces are a great place to add some colour to your outfit. Fabric blooms, headbands or feather fascinators offer a very flexible way to add colour to your wedding day fashions because you can wear them the whole day or just for your reception. This Double Feather Flower piece, shown here in Robin Egg Blue comes in over 100 colour combinations and is fully customizable. 10 | ISSUE 03
Whether you’re feeling bold, or just want a hint, adding colour to your bridal fashion is easy and fun! About Corrine of Buds and Blooms: Buds and Blooms is an independent Canadian design label specializing in delivering high-quality, hand-made, reasonably priced, gorgeous adornments and embellished apparel to fit any lifestyle.

The color palette of bubblegum pink, mint green and robins egg blue are the inspiration for this carnival of candy and circus of sweets, with a soft feminine touch. The tablescape was prepared using a unique pillow wall as the backdrop for the table, adding to the overall colorful appearance. Mint green material was used for the tablecloth, as well as the chair cover. The chair was accented with a plaid-patterned bow that complemented the plaid/gingham print plates and cupcake wrappers. All of the fabric was purchased from the clearance section at Jo-Ann Fabric. The fun and flirty bouquet resembles a big round stick of cotton candy perfectly fitting the carnival/circus theme.
The table displayed an array of desserts and candies, including jelly beans, salt water taffy, rock candy, cotton candy and cupcakes. Maria made the cupcakes with a strawberry cake recipe and buttercream frosting, then topped each with either blue sugar crystals or pink glitter gel. A pink lemonade cocktail with fresh-cut lemons was displayed on the table in a large glass pitcher as was a bin full of ice cold glass bottle sodas.
Easy DIY Projects include: • the cupcake carousel {an easter egg holder accented by candy sticks with attached carousel animals} • the pink and white cupcake stand {a candlestick and plate with some epoxy glue and pink paint}

Since this photo shoot took place in Wisconsin where things are still quite brown this time of year, Kelsy of The McCartneys Photography brought in a vibrant tablecloth - it was actually the bottom half of a prom dress {which was found at a second hand shop in the perfect color}. During antique shopping, Kelsy found rustic vintage flatware that worked perfectly for the DIY cupcakes and the petite plates. To
bring in more pink and green to the table - there was pink lemonade and pops of green with limes and cucumber slices and DIY cupcakes in pink inside of a mason jar. Vibrant candy was incorporated with the salt water taffy hanging in tiny jars from the gorgeous canopy-style floral centerpiece. And, lastly the cotton candy fudge, pink/green/blue truffles, blue bitty bites, and floral napkins were all compliments of great etsy shop owners.
