everyone’s journey through life is unique and sometimes we don’t realize the different factors that contribute to our life journey. our culture, experiences, and interactions all build us into the person we choose to become and without these factors our final product would not be the same. several of the images in the next couple of pages are broken into blocks to symbolize how different elements contribute to a final design and reinforce the idea that everything comes from something. these next couple of pages is my journey through the college of environment and design at the university of georgia.

location: athens greenway is located on wilkerson street between east broad and oconee street in athens, ga. design goal: this design focused on the word corridor and creating hidden spaces within the landscape designed for designated uses. design process: to accomplish this design goal, a very simplitic trail was designed to connect the entire site and the areas that surrounded the trail became enhanced, designated spaces. these spaces heightened the trail experience and made the nature of the site the primary focus of the design. 0LVĘŁLĘ?Éš &ČžHDÉ€É? location: the harden property is located along highway 10-US 441 s in athens, ga. design overview: this project redesigns the harden property near the university of georgia into a innovation district focusing on engineering, architecture, and construction. this design used historical architecture from italy and ancient greece, and incorporated the acropolis, vatican, and the triskelon (a symbolic ancient greece symbol). ʤʢLĘ‚Č´É°Ę™LĘ?Éš ĘƒČąÉ? əԪLĘ?Éš Ôˇ DFʤLĘ?Éš ĘŽ\ÉČľHÉĄ Ę URʔȞHVÉĄ ȞʑYɟʙXʤLĘ?Éš Ę‹QÉ? site analysis
disadvantages: the site is located on a steep portion of land surrounded by a forest of deciduous trees. since the site is along Highway 10, there is a lot of noise along the northern and southern portion of land. advantages: the high points on the site can be used as focal points in the design. the north oconee river runs through the northern portion of the site as well. If designed correctly, this river could be a signifcant asset to the location.

case study Florida Innovation Hub
Infusion Technolgy Center
STRATEGY
Innovation Square was organized into 6 elements: districts, grids, greenway, streets, parking, and uses. The grid creates spaces that allow for plazas, courtyards, trails, parks, and streets all for researchers, residents and visitors to interact and collaborate. The greenway was designed as the connector and focal point for the overal site. It links the northern mixed-use section of the district to the southern, residential and recreational section of the district. The central square was designed to allow for informal gatherings as well as large events.

10 PHASES
INOVATION SQUARE
Inovation Square will be constructed over 10 phases. Phase I & II will focus on the development of the Florida Innovation Hub, Infusion Technology Center, and INSPIREation Hall. The Florida Innovation Hub is located at the heart of Innovation Square. It is a 48,000 square foot facility and was constructed in June 2010 and was completed in Fall 2012. The Infusion Technology Center is the first commercial building for private companies looking to profit from the benefits of Innovation Square. It is 150,000 square feet of custom-built laboratory, research and hi-tech office space all for lease. INSPIREation Hall is the first housing development in the U.S. to be designed from the ground up as an entrepreneurial incubator. During phase III additional private buildings will be added to the site as well as the Florida Innovation Hub #2. At completion, phase III will include housing, retail, restaurant, and service space to support the people on the site who are looking for a short commute to the University of Florida.
legend 16 11 60-
During the last couple of phases, four parking garages will be installed on the site. At completion Innovation Square will be a 40 acre site consisting of 5 million square feet of technology, retail, resturants, service and residential space. It will offer 300 jobs at more than 100 companies.

FUNDING Both Innovation Hub and the Infusion Technolgy Center were given a grant from the Federal Economic Development Administration and the University of Florida. EDA gave a $8.2 million grant and the University of Florida gave a $5 million commitment. Innovation Hub was awarded a second EDA grant of $8 million, with a $9 million match from the University of Florida, therefore allowing the facility to double in size.

The concept behind Innovation Square is to allow people with great ideas to have the tools to make those ideas come to life. It thrives to create a space that fosters creativity, originality, and entrepreneurship. Innovation Square allows technologies to be developed from both inside and outside the University. It wants to encourage diverse disciplines to interact, allows researchers to work smarter, unleash creativity and accelerating the development of new ideas. One of Innovation Square’s main goals is for it and Gainesville to become a great place to live and work, encouraging companies to build offices in the area and put Gainesville on the map as the center for technology and major breakthroughs.

JOURNEY a passage or progress from one stage to another; a distance, course not only has my journey been built from various achievements and opportunities but it has also been developed from my opstacles and advertises. looking back through my journey and considering everything that has contributed to my outcome makes me appreciate every opportunity i have been given. the negatives and the positives in our life or designs can produce amazing things. each design comes from somewhere and everything in life comes from something.
