HABITATION IN GAMBOA WATER FRONT Overview Multi-family complex designed in an interesting site in the waterfront of Salvador. The first design idea was presented in Studio III, at Universidade Federal da Bahia. After some years, I redesigned the building to obtain the results that I desired. In this design I intended to orient the faรงades to the sea view and respect the most possible the topography. The complex has also some common and public spaces, as the restaurant area (in the first level), the funicular, the pier and the swimming pool. In terms of housing, it was designed two types of housing, one with one floor and other with two floors and a swimming pool, both for a family with 4-5 people. The result was an architecture with surprising angles, with different faรงades and volumetry.

YEAR 2015 FINAL UNDERGRAD PROJECT
REFERENCE CENTER FOR URBAN AGRICULTURE AND RECYCLING Overview Final undergrad project that aims to be a Urban Agriculture and Recycling Center. This project came to be a place of experimentation and learning for the community who is interested in urban agriculture and recycling subjects. The goal is also to provide spaces of relaxation, entertainment, study and health food for the local community. In this context, there are public and semi public uses. The Center is located in Calçada, a neighborhood in Salvador, next to Feira de São Joaquim, the biggest popular farmers market. Feira de São Joaquim provides a lot of food supplies for the residents of Salvador, however its products came from far, they are not that fresh, and there is a lot of organic and inorganic waste in the market which the Center propose to reuse, redistributing foods that can still be consumed, making organic compounds, recycling the inorganic waste, etc.
The project intends to propose a public space in which urban agriculture appear in the existence of edible plant species and community gardens. This public space would be a linear park built in areas without use on the train line margins. This space is unused and inside it has some abandoned buildings. For this to occur, the first intervention is the removal of the wall that blocks the access to this area. In place of the wall I proposed a transitional area with a roof, to be used by farmers market, for example. With this intervention I proposed new flows: receiving organic and inorganic wastes to be reused and a flow of distribution of the products that would be produced at the center. In this context, I made a plan for this new system and I presented in the form of the diagram that will come in the next page. In the abandoned buildings I proposed a composting plant and a Reference Center, I also chose to maintain the recycling cooperative which already occupies an abandoned building there. The Reference Center would be a coordinator and diffuser of these proposed activities. It would be a space that should be used by NGOs to discuss urban agriculture and recycling. For the Reference Center I did a building renovation project, in the building that used to be the Train Roundhouse. The intention is to keep the volumetry of the building. The only thing that break its volumetry and marks the intervention is the auditorium volume. The building program is: -Restaurante + Commercial Kitchen; -Auditorium; -Classrooms; -Library + Herbarium; -Laboratories Research; -ApotecĂĄrio; -Doctor's office; -Management offices. Â The intention of the building is to have a character of semi-public, so he has 2 indoor plazzas where things can happen to public character and its auditorium also has opening out. The presentations that happen in the auditorium can be seen both inside and outside area of the building. The internal walls of the internal plazzas are made of wood sashes that open completely and some of the walls are also made of hydroponic panels to demonstrate the technologies developed in the building. The Reference Center would be a space of experimentation, exchange of knowledge, learning and data and species collection.

A CHAPEL FOR CAMAÇARI
03
Overview This project was a result of a competition to design a chapel for a catholic seminary for the priesthood. That would also be used by the local neighborhood. For designing the chapel we had to study its specific uses and, inside that, research about the catholic religion, its symbols, rituals and beliefs. The chapel form is a deconstruction of gothic arcs and it explores the relationship between natural light, shade and form. The colored lights in the entrance, the linear openings in the side with its natural light effects and a linear path that lead the user view to the altar since the beginning, were used to create transitions that lead the user to a mystical and transcendental environment.

CANDEAL RESIDENCE Overview This project was the last exercise of the Studio II. The purpose of the exercise was to design a house to a classmate of the course. The main intention was to consider the client desires, so the attention to the user was essential in the design process. The program was arranged using the different levels from the existing topography and the natural light and ventilation were also the fundamental to this project. The result was a house which adequates its shape with the topography of the land and with a strong relationship between the interior and the exterior of the building.

KATUKA KAFÉ 05
Overview This design project is the interior of an historical house in Praça da Sé. The client wanted a coffee shop and reading space . The design should refer to an African aesthetic, but without changing the existing structure of the house. In this way, we tried to optimize space using specific designed furniture. The internal space was designed using a mixture of African fabrics for the coating of some furniture and walls, and for referring other stores of the client, we used the red color in specific spots. The project was designed with the collaboration of André O’Dwyer.

Overview Final result of the process of an participatory design studio. This is one of the works that I developed in my exchange experience at University of Washington. The Neighborhood Design Studio was formed with landscape architecture, urban planning and CEP students and we studied the Lake City neighborhood. To design and create solutions that could meet the community demands, we realized visits, group discussions and a design charrette with the residents, besides study the transportation system in the area, the natural environments and human uses. After the analysis, each student chose an area to propose and design. I chose to work with the Bank of America parking lot area and to meet the community desires I proposed a construction of a park. This park play a important role connecting the Community Center, the Albert Davis Park and the Mini Park. It has a permanent market with coffee shops and restaurants and a outdoor area to the local farmers market. The centre of the park there are recreational and relaxation places, with an open lawn area and a more intimate space with fruit trees. I also proposed a mixed use building . The design intend to provide a public space with different uses that make it to be use in several times in the day, and it connects important existent areas in Lake City.

YEAR 2013 URBAN PLANNING STUDIO V
OTHERS TIMES FOR PAU DA LIMA Overview This project was developed over one year of urban planning studio. Each group have to study a neighborhood in Salvador, ours was Pau da Lima, an unplanned neighborhood, with a lack of public space. This studio proposed to plan the city through the user eyes and scale. With that in mind, we did some workshops to try to understand the uses, the flows, the subjective desires and the real population needs. In this process, we discovered subjective barriers done by the land use, the violence and the topography. At the same time, an intense use of the street as an extension of the house by the community seemed to break these barries, in some places. Our goal was to reinforce more ÂŤbreaksÂť by bringing new uses and flows, creating public spaces that address the pre-existing uses and that connect the ups and downs areas. Our intention was to reinforce the positive existents dynamics that, in a lot of ways, differ from the planned neighborhoods. Besides that, our concept for this project came from the relantionship space-time developted by the brazilian reasearcher, Milton Santos.

TAQUIPE BASE MODEL Overview Model of the Petrobrás Taquipe base, in São Sebastião do Passé, Bahia. This model was a professional work, built with the collaboration of André O’Dwyer, my colleague from architecture college. To this model we use materials as cork sheets for the topography, regular beige paper for the buildings and cardboard for the paving. The criteria to choose the materials came from the scale of the model and the visual effect that we want to obtain. The result was a model of 6,56 ft long.

YEAR 2015 TECHNIQUE: DIGITAL PAITING
EUPHONIA Overview Digital painting design, using Adobe Photoshop as a tool. This design is a bird called Euphonia and it was designed to be the main part of an EP cover to a singer called Babalé. As the bird, Babalé has a simple, and at the same time, single voice. It needed to be digital to be easier to work later in the layout of the cover. The digital watercolor technique used address the poetic delicacy of the brush and the fluidity of the mixture of colors desired. TO LISTEN IT ONLINE: https://soundcloud.com/babale/sets/euphonia
