Concept The copyright law is out of control, Copyright is being used as a tool that benefits corporations rather than the artists and designers it is intended for. The aim is to explore Remix as a political, cultural as well as typographic strategy, whilst at the same time evoking debate on the restritions of corporate copyright laws and their effects on the production of cultural artifacts. Hopefully by making copyright and intellectual property an issue worth talking about.

Culture always builds on the past. The past always tries to control the future. Our future is becoming less free. To build free societies you must limit the control of the past.

RE:MIX
Remix, reshape, distort and morph typefaces to create your own alphabet using existing typefaces. Any of the letters or words can be used commercially and goes into the public domain. Take something old to create something new.
RE:MIX
Posters Using the type tool, people can create posters to spread the message and get people talking about the copyright law, through use of the remix manifesto and interesting type. Aiming to create interest in using platforms such as creative commons.
Photocopy The photocopier is great inexpensive tool. Remix encourage people to Photocopy, duplicate and reprocess. By moving the copy around on the scanner, different original copies will be produced in a short space of time.
Flypost Fly posters are used by groups and individuals on the fringes and outside of dominent cultures with great effect. Cheap and effective way of spreading the campaign. Black and white print with powerful messages. Placed in the city centre where designers and like minded folk will see.
Web Flypost the web with Gifs promoting remix with some moving imagery and glitches.
Publication A collaberative publication responding to the remix manifesto. Encouraging the sharing ideas and the opportunities within. Selected artworks are remixed together to create something new, along with the remix manifesto. Manipulation to the printing process provides a unique copy every time.
