SUMMER MISSION PROJECT Ray & Margi Bradbury
Ray and Margi Bradbury are our missionaries to Buenos Aires, Argentina. They started the Potter’s House church 9 years ago, just a few blocks from the nations capital building, in a rented storefront base of an apartment building. To make a long story short, about a year and half ago, one of their neighbours began to harass them. This harassment included threats on their lives,
disturbing their services, and legal lawsuits. Although the church has fulfilled all the legal requirements, it is still in the judicial system with very little assurance that the church will win their case. The conclusion is that they must move. The Bradbury’s have found a new location. A building that they can buy and call their own. It is a self-contained structure with a room to seat 200 people and 2 typical spanish patios for fellowships plus rooms for Children’s ministry and Bible studies. It is also only 5 blocks from the Congreso. The Bradbury’s have received financial donations to purchase
the building but are in need of another $140,000 to make this a reality. As a summer missions project at Bethel, we are looking to raise $10,000 for the Bradbury’s for the purchase of this church. The church will actually be purchased and owned by the Argentine Assemblies of God. In July we raised $7,506. We need another $2,494 and we will be able to send to the Bradbury’s our full goal amount of $10,000. Thank you for your support in this Summer Missions Project.
IN SUPPORT OF ISRAEL The current conflict in the Middle East between Israel and the Hamas in Gaza is the easiest to explain but the hardest to solve. Simply put: One side (the Hamas) wants the other side (Jews / Israel) dead. Israel wants to live as a Jewish State and to live in peace. Israel also is willing to recognize a Palestinian state and for them to live in peace. But Hamas, a internationally recognized terrorist organization which controls Gaza, has in its charter that it “opposes any political solution offered as an alternative to demolishing the Zionist occupation in Palestine” and that “Israel will exist and continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it.” One example of this is in 1947, after the WW2 and the Jewish Holocaust, the United Nations voted to divide the land into a Jewish State and a Arab State. Israel accepted the U.N. partition, but no Muslim country would accept it. So when British control ended on May 15, 1948 and Israel became a nation, 5 surrounding Arab nations attacked Israel. But a miracle took place. The one-day old nation of Israel survived. Since 2005, when Israel voluntarily withdrew from Gaza, over 11,000 rockets have been fired into Israel. Rockets continue to be fired daily. Recently a sophisticated underground tunnel system has been discovered with the intentions of Hamas to use to infiltrate Israel for the purpose of terrorism. What is Israel to do?
Bible Studies This Fall
The reality is that if the Arabs put down their weapons, there would be peace in the Middle East. But if Israel were to lay down their weapons, Israel would cease to exist. The Bible is very clear that God’s love is for ALL peoples of the world, including the Arabs and Muslims. The Bible is also clear that God chose Israel to be a special people to Him and through the Jewish people God has brought to us His salvation by Jesus Christ. Israel has the right to exist and to dwell safely within their borders. As Christians, we are called to do 4 things in relation to Israel: 1. We are called to PROCLAIM God’s truth regarding Israel (Jeremiah 31:10,11; 32:40,41). 2. We are to PETITION on Israel’s behalf (Isaiah 62:6,7). 3. We are PRAY for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6). 4. We are to PROVIDE for the house of Israel (Isaiah 40:1,2; Matthew 25:31-46). Let us as the Christian church fulfill our responsibility toward Israel in these 4 callings. In support of Israel, Pastor Tim Gibb
