Kids Church Christmas Presentation Parents and Grandparents...Don’t miss Sunday December 8th in our 10:30AM service as both our Pre-School Kids Class and our Kidsplosion Kids class will be coming into our service with a

special Christmas presentation. As well, please have your kids to church a few minutes early to allow the teachers one more opportunity to practice with the kids. Oh...and don’t forget your cameras!

We Care Need This Christmas season, we appreciate your financial support of our We Care fund. We Care is a fund used to provide benevolant help to individuals both within and outside of Bethel. Over the last couple of weeks Bethel has provided significant help to a couple families in our Church who are in much need. Your support is greatly needed and appreciated!

Host International Students This Christmas This Christmas season we have international students at Lambton College who will not be able to return home over the Christmas season. If you would be available to have one or more students to your home for a meal and Christmas celebration during this season, that would be a great blessing and encouragement. Please let Pastor Tim or the Church Office know of your desire to host an international student/s and arrangements will be made.

Tithing Envelopes If you do not have your own numbered tithe envelopes and would like to have some, please either call the church office or email carol@ bethelsarnia.com as soon as possible. Also, if you have moved in 2013 and your address has changed, please let the office know as soon as possible so your income tax receipt has the proper information on it.

THE REASON FOR THE SEASON We have all seen, on either a Christmas card or holiday sign, the phrase “Jesus is the Reason for the Season.” With so much of the season being about parties, gifts, concerts, etc; it is a great reminder to us all to not forget the real reason for the season - Jesus. This holiday season though, I would like to encourage everyone to remember not just that Jesus came to this earth, but why He came. The beauty and mystery of Christmas is that God chose, through His son, to come down to earth and live where we live. One of the names for Jesus is Emmanuel, which means “God with us”. The theological word for this is the Incarnation. God took on human flesh and become one of us. John 1:14 declares that “The Word became flesh

and dwelt among us.” Not only did He come, He came for a purpose - to reconcile us back to God but also to experience our pains and sufferings as a result of the sin curse. This writer of Hebrews says that because of this (4:15) “we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Let us not only remember the coming of Christ to this earth, but that he came to dwell among us. Christmas is a wonderful time of activity and fun with family and friends. But it can also be a time for some of great loneliness and stress. Around us our people who will spend their first Christmas without a loved one. College students who will not be able

to return home to be with family and will spend Christmas alone. Single moms and families who are at the brink financially and the financial demands can bring added stress. Let us as God’s people this Christmas, not only celebrate that Jesus came, but remember why he came. Let us ask God to direct us to someone we can extend the love and kindness of our Saviour to. Let us make a difference in someone’s life this Christmas and be the heart of Jesus to them. On behalf of all the Elders, Pastors, Staff and my family, I pray that this will be a blessed Christmas season for you and yours, Pastor Tim Gibb
