FROM ME TO YOU

By Pastor Tim

THE STEPS OF A GOOD MAN ARE ORDERED BY THE LORD, AND HE DELIGHTS IN HIS WAY. - PSALM 37:23

It was my mother who said to me after her first ministry trip in 2010, from the invitation of Pastor Terry Burns, “Tim, you’ve got to come to Ukraine!”. “There is a revival movement happening here.” I had been to Ukraine in 1995. It was certainly the most difficult missions trip I have ever done and my motivation for returning to Ukraine was not high. But with the enthusiasm from my mother, I said “sure”. What I didn’t know then was how God would take that simply “sure” and lead in a path that has been beyond my imagination. My first trip was to Ukraine was in 2011. It was then that I met Ed Dickson and ministered at my first Pastors Conference in Krivvy Rog, Ukraine. My mother was right. The church in Ukraine was alive and growing in a revival

culture. Immediately ministry ideas and opportunities became available. In 2012, our first youth missions trip to Ukraine took place where we ministered to over 600 orphan teenagers at a government summer camp. We saw hundreds of those kids accept Christ and all were given hardcover, youth edition Bibles. On that same trip, we met Pastor Dennis from a city called Smila and heard his vision for property to build the first evangelical church in that city. God placed that vision in our hearts to partner with Pastor Dennis. In 2012 Bethel provided the funds to the Smila church to buy property. Then the following year, we provided the funds to build a church building to seat 200 people. A church that today is full to capacity and growing. Ministry teams from Bethel continued to travel to Ukraine over the last few years to minister at the orphan camp and various orphanages. As a result of our ministry in Ukraine, Bible clubs were started in various Orphanages in Krivvy Rog, Ukraine. Bethel now supports a full-time worker, Lena Teran, who gives leadership to these Bible clubs. Bethel also, along with the assistance of Ted Shuttlesworth ministries Canada, provides funds for all the ministry programming and

supplies needed for these Bible Clubs. In 2015, I was invited to preach at the largest church in the nation, Regeneration Church with Pastor Vladimir Muntyan. Pastor Muntyan was trained in a Bible College in Ukraine taught by PAOC Canadian Pastors. His church in Kiev now has over 14,000 regular attendees and a major television ministry that covers the Russian-speaking world. His church now meets in the largest hockey arena in the nation. Pastor Muntyan invited me again this past summer to preach at a Conference hosted by Regeneration Church with thousands in attendance and many thousands viewing online. The result of that ministry opportunity was an invitation this October to minister at a Pastors Conference with over 1,500 Russianspeaking pastors from across Eastern Europe who will be attending. When I said “sure” to my mother’s encouragement to travel to Ukraine, little did I know what God would do. I have learned that God orders our steps. And that He is able to do “above and beyond all that we ask or even imagine.” Pastor Tim Gibb

CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTER By Stephanie Courtney

My journey to the Pregnancy Options and Support Centre began as a seed of encouragement nearly 8 years ago. A member of our church, who volunteered at the centre at the time, simply suggested I should consider getting connected there. She thought I would be a good fit as a peer counsellor. Back then, I had a toddler and was pregnant with our second baby. Volunteering my time at the

the Government of Ontario began to publicly fund a new abortion pill (Mifegymiso) which allows women to terminate a pregnancy in the privacy of her own home. As you can imagine, this is extremely concerning for a variety of reasons. We have been learning as much about this at the Pregnancy Centre as we can, and are praying that men and women who have questions about it will come and speak

The Pregnancy Options and Support Centre is a relatively hidden gem within the community of Sarnia. It has been an educational resource in Sarnia-Lambton for more than 30 years and is nationally affiliated with CAPSS (Canadian Association of Pregnancy Support Services). The heartbeat of the Pregnancy Centre is to embrace, educate, and equip women and men who are struggling with pregnancy decisions, desire parenting strategies, and who long for support, connection, and relationship along the journey.

We have much to praise the Lord for at the Pregnancy Centre! More and more clients have been coming and awareness of the breadth of help available is spreading within our community. The Pregnancy Centre recently moved to a new facility double the size of our previous one and is already nearly at capacity. The Lord is opening doors and our staff and volunteer counsellors have been engaging in spiritual conversations more frequently. Tara Steeves, our executive director, had the unique privilege of officiating the wedding of some clients the centre has been supporting for a number of years. God is doing a good work and we are so grateful for his amazing faithfulness!

centre wasn’t a possibility for me and the idea escaped my mind as quickly as it had come. It wasn’t until 6 years later that, seemingly out of nowhere, the Lord brought the Pregnancy Centre back to my attention with full force. His timing is perfect. I have been volunteering there as a peer support counsellor for nearly a year now, and can honestly say God has changed me, used me, encouraged me, stretched me, and excited me in ways I have never experienced before. Every Monday Thursday, this part of the body of Christ swings into action, full of prayerful expectation and total reliance on the Holy Spirit.

The Pregnancy Centre is an open, nonjudgmental safe-haven where there are no silly questions and all who have them are welcome. The free ministries and resources offered to all in our community are: Pregnancy Tests | Prenatal Education | Parenting Education | Options Education | Post Abortion/Adoption | Mom’s Group | Dad’s Group | Care Closet Friends, the need for this ministry in our community is great! As of August 10, 2017,

don’t hesitate to call or drop in. Everything is confidential and the welcome is warm.

to us first. The beauty of the Pregnancy Centre is that we have the awesome privilege of meeting people on the front line of their need. This is undoubtedly where Jesus wants his church to be! The days are dark, but as God’s word says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” (John 1:5, NLT) The situation seems bleak, but we have a great hope in our mighty Redeemer!

Please pray for us! Pray for our clients, that they would receive the help they need and open their hearts to the gospel. Pray that churches and individuals in Sarnia would catch the Christ-centered vision of the Pregnancy Centre and more volunteers would come alongside the ministry. Pray that all of our financial needs would be met, with an abundance for the good things yet to come. If you or anyone you know could benefit from the services offered at the centre, please
