Better Earth offers the most extensive collection of molded fiber substrates for foodservice packaging on the market. The collections are tree-free, certified commercially compostable, and made from renewable raw materials like sugarcane, bamboo, and perennial grasses.
All Better Earth fiber products are freezer and microwavesafe and grease resistant.
Our flagship fiber product, Farmer’s Fiber, is a key item in our Climate Smart ™ Packaging Program. This program represents a comprehensive strategy aimed at mitigating the carbon footprint throughout the packaging lifecycle including a review of sourcing, production, utilization, and disposal.
Our methodology includes conducting a lifecycle assessment of each collection, developing a carbon reduction plan, and implementing carbon offsets. The launch of this program with Farmer’s Fiber marks a milestone in achieving reduced emissions and a strive for carbon negativity status.

Our paper product line is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified and derived from responsibly managed forests. The collection consists of FSC White and Bamboo Kraft Paperboard options.
FSC White Paperboard is made of raw materials that meet FSC’s forest management standards which prohibit the use of highly hazardous chemicals in order to help preserve natural forest cover. When molded into product form, this material can withstand boiling water, and is designed with an exceptionally strong double sealed seam for easy closure.
Bamboo Kraft Paperboard is made from plant-based and tree-free bamboo. Our bamboo paperboard products are typically lined with PLA to ensure premium performance. Both product lines are great for hot and cold food applications. The PLA lining and double-sealed seams give our Food Container and Hot Cup Collections maximum performance.
All products in the Better Earth Paper Collections are customizable. Our paperboard Hot Cups, Food Containers, and lids can be custom printed with your logo or brand artwork. Our Better Box Collection can be customized on all sides around the transparent PLA window.

Better Earth’s Bio-Resin Collection is BPI certified and meets ASTM D6868 standards. It is made with PLA, a versatile, plant-based, and compostable bioresin derived from corn. Some of the products in the collection use Crystallized PLA (CPLA), a material made from sugar beets that is translucent and has a higher heat tolerance than PLA, making it perfect for hot cup lids, soup cup lids, cutlery, and more.
Recent research continues to affirm that certified bioresin packaging breaks down swiftly and efficiently in commercial composting environments, and can help enable clean collection. For example, a recent study from the Foodservice Packaging Institute showed that compostables help divert more food waste from landfills to compost piles.
The study also showed that when procurement teams commit to switching to a 100% certified compostable packaging portfolio on site, they dramatically reduce contamination in the compost bin.
Commercially compostable packaging is designed to break down in commercial composting piles in 90-180 days. However, depending on the product, it can be faster.
Most BPI certified compostable packaging products are proven to break down in these facilities in 49 days.
Each of these studies concludes that compostable packaging is critical for diverting food waste, reducing contamination in compost piles, and cycling nutrients back into our soil.

We work with farmers to source native, perennial grasses and rapidly renewable crops used in our products. No-till Farming: A planting technique that leaves the soil intact rather than plowing which disturbs soil structure, depletes essential nutrients, and releases carbon.
Composting: The breakdown of organic material, such as food scraps and yard waste, that produces a nutrient rich soil amendment. Compost acts as a natural fertilizer and pesticide leading to healthier plants, more nutritious food, and less chemical inputs. Organic matter helps strengthen soil structure, improving water retention and reducing erosion.
Cover Cropping: Planting cover crops, such as clover or rye, in between cash crops. These plants are grown to protect and enrich the soil, not for harvest. They prevent erosion, improve soil health, and can suppress weeds.
Crop Rotation: Growing different crops in succession helps reduce disease and pest issues. Each plant type draws and deposits different nutrients, keeping the soil diversified and balanced.
Rotational Grazing: Moving livestock through field paddocks in planned patterns. Manure, scratching, and hooves compacting the earth helps to improve the health of the soil and provides a more natural diet for the animals.

Commercial Composting Facility
These facilities provide the ideal conditions – high heat, air flow, moisture content, and nutrient balance – for composting a wide variety of products quickly and efficiently. Some cities have composting available through their municipality while other areas offer commercial composting subscription plans.
Regenerative Agriculture
This refers to farming and grazing practices that restore soil biodiversity and reverse climate change by sequestering carbon dioxide in replenished soil.
This means that a product can break down into carbon dioxide, water, inorganic compounds and biomass in about 90 – 180 days or less with the support of aerobic microorganisms. This process leaves no toxicity in the soil (for more information, refer to “composting”). Compostable products can include food scraps, paper, and leaves, as well as certified-compostable foodservice packaging materials like the items made by Better Earth. The speed of degradability will vary based on the composition of the product.
According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, it is an economic system where nothing is wasted. When composted, Better Earth compostable products are a strong example of the circular economy in action, as our raw materials are sourced from reimagined agricultural byproducts (like bagasse). Better Earth “closes the nutrient loop” through composting, leaving no waste behind.
