Letter from T H E P U B L I S H E R Hello dear readers,
ifty-one degrees and loving it! That was the temperature when I woke up on this beautiful Sunday morning. The Florida winters are just one of the many reasons I enjoy this special time of year. On the horizon are the eight days of Hanukkah, the twelve days of Christmas and the exciting hope for a bright New Year. Happy Holidays, Everyone! I received a message at church last night that I am anxious to share. It was inspiring, uplifting and so fitting as one year closes and a new one begins: “Give thanks in ALL circumstances” 1 Thess. 5:1 I can get stressed during the holidays. I suspect I am not alone on this one. But studies show that gratitude is the healthiest emotion. Note to self: LEARN TO LAUGH. Laughter reduces stress and adds years to our lives. Wow, that’s a pretty big payoff ! Of course, deep down I know this, but sometimes I do forget and let my circumstances get the better of me. And as someone wiser than I once said, “If it’s worth worrying about, it’s worth praying about”. “You can throw the whole weight of your anxieties upon Him, for you are His personal concern” 1 Peter 5:7 One last hint: If I can just fix my mind on what is TRUE, NOBLE, PURE, LOVELY and PRAISEWORTHY, I will find peace. I’ll take that! In this issue, we have a new column entitled Pastor Mike’s Corner View. You will also find a very special anonymous poem and a Holiday Gift Guide. he single mom is Chiquita Andrews, a Fort Pierce resident struggling to keep a roof over her head.
The young man is her son, Demetrius Gollett, 11, the sole survivor of a fire on February 18, 2013, that took away his great grandparents and his dog, Carmen. This young man has gone through a total of 18 surgeries and procedures with many more to come. The community is you and every other person who will take action and help this family.

Larger goals include scholarships to students who excel against all odds in trying to lift themselves out of adverse environments. ave you ever felt that there was a part of your life that was becoming unmanageable? Maybe your life wasn’t completely unmanageable, but you were becoming more and more aware that if something didn’t change, your whole sense of peace was at risk? I think we all have had that experience at one time or another. There are things that can knock us off track, and leave us uncomfortable to say the least. I refer to these as Hurts, Habits and Hang-ups. Maybe you may not be experiencing these feelings but you may know someone who is. We live in a world full of challenges that can take us away from our God given purpose. Sometimes it’s the choices we make, or the choices other people make, or the combination of both that can cause us to experience a hurt, or develop a habit, or create a hang-up. Since the beginning of time, men and women have searched for happiness – usually in all the wrong places, trying all the wrong things. But there’s only one place where we can find tested-and proven, absolutely going to – work principles that will lead to healing and happiness. These principles come in the form of eight statements from the truest of all books – the Bible – and from the most revered Teacher of all times – Jesus Christ. Today we call them “The Beatitudes” These eight principles make change possible, and they are at the core of “Celebrate Recovery”. With these eight biblical principles implemented in the CR program, there can be recovery from any

Celebrate Recovery started 25 years ago with a small group of men and women wanting to get into a faith based program, by the founder John Baker (a recovered AA participant) established CR in Southern California at Saddleback Community Church (Rick Warren SR. Pastor). Today CR is in 25,000 churches across the U.S. and in 17 countries around the globe. We all know what it feels like to have life disappoint us and not work out as we’d hoped. We all know what it’s like to long for something different, something better, and something more. Are you feeling frustrated or confused, are you enduring hardship or pain, have you made mistakes or are you grieving? If you feel defeated or feel as though you’ve lost your way, you need to know that God is the God of the comeback, and God is creating a comeback especially for you. "God is in the business of giving people Fresh Starts. That is such good news! He gives hope to the hopeless, direction to the directionless, help to those who need help. God’s plan will always prevail, even when our plans don’t. Everybody needs a comeback, and everybody is offered a comeback. No matter what our obstacles are, no matter what mistakes we’ve made, no matter if we’re in a season of wandering or darkness, God’s purpose and plan will still prevail. Our comebacks may involve difficulty. Our comebacks will almost always look different from what we expect, and yet our comebacks will always be better. Why? It’s because God writes the story of our comebacks. Instead of focusing on what was, let’s see what God’s Word has to say about what is. Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”

Garbanzo Bean Chocolate Cake (Gluten Free!)
“A very good high-protein alternative to ourless chocolate cake.” Give it a try! INGREDIENTS ~
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate Chips 1 (19 ounce) can garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained 4 eggs 3/4 cup white sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1 tablespo tablespoon confectioners’ sugar for dusting
DIRECTIONS ~ Prep time 15 min.
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
2. Place the chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Cook in the microwave for about 2 minutes, stirring every 20 seconds after the rst minute, until chocolate is melted and smooth. If you have a powerful microwave, reduce the power to 50 percent.
3. Combine the beans and eggs in the bowl of a food processor. Process until smooth. Add the sugar and the baking powder, and pulse to blend. Pour in the melted chocolate and blend until smooth, scraping down the corners to make sure chocolate is completely mixed. Transfer the batter to the prepared cake pan. 4. Bake for 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 to 15 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate. Dust with confectioners’ sugar just before serving.
