Fidencio Duran Austin Artist, Instructor “The Dougherty Arts Center and the ESB-MACC have been integral to my development as an artist in Austin for many years”. Fidencio works with the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center as an arts instructor and has exhibited at the ESB-MACC and DAC. Fidencio won recognition by being named to the 2015 Critic’s Table Awards Art Hall of Fame.

FREE SHAKESPEARE IN ZILKER PARK: MACBETH MAY 4 - 29, Zilker Hillside Theater Award-winning Austin actor Marc Pouhe returns to the magnificent role provoked by the three witches and Lady Macbeth in a new production at Zilker Hillside Theater for our 32nd season in the park. This production is produced in collaboration with the Austin Parks and Recreation Department. AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE MAY, 2016 by Robert Mezquiti, ESB-MACC Honoring community members with accolades for outstanding and lifetime contributions in the arts. Recipients' names will be permanently carved on the ESBMACC wall as part of a new art installation. “SHREK, THE MUSICAL” ZILKER THEATER PRODUCTIONS SUMMER MUSICAL July 6 - August 12, ZILKER HILLSIDE THEATER The Summer Musical at the Zilker Hillside Theater has been an Austin tradition that has thrilled family audiences outdoors for over 50 years. Since the inaugural production in 1959, audiences have gathered each summer to be charmed, engaged and entertained by some of the best musical theater talent in town.

Jennifer Chenoweth “I create art. I create community. I am curious. I appreciate quality. I play as hard as I work. I engage the creative process in all activities from drawing to entrepreneurship to relationships.” Jennifer has received numerous national and local awards for creative and collaborative work with the City of Austin, Go Collaborative Austin Creative Alliance and Public City. Her HEDONIC MAP OF AUSTIN is a public art project that connect feelings with places. Jennifer has been featured at the DAC, the Ney Museum and the Susanna Dickinson Museum.
FAMILIES GALLERY CARVER This exhibit documents the first black settlements in Texas and honors ten families who have contributed greatly to the discourse and evolution of social justice in Central Texas. CHILDREN’S GALLERY CARVER “Since new developments are the products of a creative mind, we must therefore stimulate and encourage that type of mind in every way possible.” George Washington Carver. L.C. ANDERSON HIGH SCHOOL CARVER This exhibit honors the historic Black high school and the alumnae that made her renowned. JUNETEENTH MONUMENT MEMORIAL CARVER U.S. African American history from 1600 to 1865 culminates in the display of five largescale bronze portraits of ex-slaves.

THE ELISABET NEY MUSEUM NEY In 1892, Elisabet Ney, a German classicallytrained sculptor, moved to Austin and built “Formosa,” a remarkable Neoclassical and Gothic Revival studio. The museum holds the largest collection of her work in the world. It also displays furnishings and personal effects. OUTDOOR INTERPRETIVE EXHIBITS NEY On the 44th Street half of the property, a re-creation of a historically accurate regional prairie has been painstakingly cleared of invasive species. I WANT THE WIDE AMERICAN EARTH: AN ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN STORY September 19 - November 28, AARC Created by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center and Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibitions, this Asian Pacific American story has roots that reach across borders and span oceans—but the tale is quintessentially American.

DAY OF THE DEAD ALTARS - Community Gallery October 24 - November 28, ESB-MACC Dia de los Muertos is traditionally celebrated with community constructed altars that artistically celebrate the full and fascinating lives of our dearly departed.
ASIAN AMERICAN CIVIL RIGHTS Fall 2015, AARC This exhibit of civil resistance and nonviolence speaks to the heart of how Asian Americans Grace Lee Boggs, Yuri Kochiyama and Larry Itliong fought with the same spirit inspired by the African American movement of the 50’s and 60’s.
LOOKING IN LOOKING OUT October 3 – November 8, DAC Chrys Grummert, Trisha McWaters, Julie Underriner, artists from Wimberley, Texas, share thoughtful and unique visions of our beloved “Texas Hill Country,” providing an exceptional opportunity to discover how color, line, and depth speak volumes to our collective memories. MEMENTO MORI (VICTORIAN MOURNING CUSTOMS) October 1 - January 2016, BRUSH SQUARE MUSEUMS Complementary exhibits at the O. Henry and Susanna Dickinson Museums will delve into memento mori, examining Victorian mourning customs through artifacts including death masks and a 19th century coffin in the style made by Susanna’s husband, Joseph Hannig, who was a celebrated undertaker. Coronado Gallery Jaime Arredondo’s paintings use intense colors and lighting combined with flower and human subjects in order to transport the viewer to a surreal state of ecstasy in which the sacred and divine become more accessible. IMANOL MIRANDA January 30 - April 2 ESB-MACC, Community Gallery Imanol E. Miranda was born in Mexico and moved to the United States when he was thirteen years old. Through his own search of the meaning of “The American Dream,” the body of work known as "The Mexican American Photo Project" has emerged.

BITTERSWEET HARVEST June 30 - September 3 , ESB-MACC, Sam Z. Coronado Gallery The ESB-MACC is proud to host the traveling Smithsonian exhibition, "Bittersweet Harvest", a look into the Bracero Program, a U.S. government guest worker platform offered to Mexican farmworkers initiated in 1942 in order to replenish manpower in the agricultural districts of the country during wartime.
TOTALLY COOL, TOTALLY ART (TCTA) END OF YEAR TEEN ART EXHIBITION April 14 - 16, DAC A program of the Austin Parks and Recreation Department, Totally Cool, Totally Art (TCTA) is a free after-school program that takes place in 16 recreation centers throughout Austin that emphasizes the importance of the process of creation. TCTA values the hands-on learning approach and encourages all teens to participate and explore their creative side.
TAKING TO THE ROAD: THE AUSTIN MIGRANT FARMWORKERS’ CONNECTION June 30 – September 3, ESB-MACC, Community Gallery TAKING TO THE ROAD is a collection of photos, memorabilia and stories from Austin families who have had members serve as migrant workers during the U.S. government’s Bracero program that occurred from 19401960.

ROBERTO MUNGUIA September 16 - November 26 , ESB-MACC, Sam Z. Coronado Gallery Roberto Munguia works with the ancient painting technique known as encaustic, derived from heated beeswax and color pigments. Munguia incorporates an otherworldly, transcendental quality to his works.
MARGARITA CABRERA April 16 – June 18, ESB-MACC, Sam Z. Coronado Gallery Born in Monterrey, Mexico, artist, Margarita Cabrera creates and curates an exhibit that addresses the impact of the US/Mexico border on the communities that surround it.

VICTOR PEREZ-RUL ALTAMIRANO – PLAZA September 16 , ESB-MACC Born in Mexico City, Perez-Rul’s recent exploration into the synthesis of science and technology inspires his artistry to create a site specific ESB-MACC installation in the plaza. In addition, UT-Austin’s Visual Arts Center have invited Perez-Rul as a guest artist.
WEST AUSTIN STUDIO SELECT EXHIBIT MAY 12 - 22, DAC and NEY Big Medium, in partnership with the Dougherty Arts Center and the Elisabet Ney Museum, is pleased to present exhibitions to be featured as a part of the fifth annual West Austin Studio Tours. WEST is a free, selfguided art event occurring over two weekends in May, providing the public with an opportunity to explore the unique spaces where Austin’s art is created and celebrated.
