HYPER-LINK COMMUNITY

Hyper Link focuses on a strong connection with constructed forms, where community living is strategically layered so that the residents no longer rely on streets as traffic, but find more support in three-dimensional Hyper Link. It is a morphing, constantly evolving, self-layered, self-updating, self- constructable, and self- sustainable locality. Through the thorough analysis of Melbourne’s urban fabric, it is undeniable that access and boundary are always complex and frequently discussed topics. Residential buildings in Melbourne are distributed with street frontage, in return, the focus lies with the in-between spaces, thus forming an ever-changing relationship between linear, horizontal and vertical traffic. Hyper Link addresses the increasing sensations of loneliness and isolation. By allowing residents to interact and interconnect in multiple sensory manners, Hyper Link is able to encourage a positive change in their lives. These interstitial spaces are the starting point for shared spaces; unique thresholds that are connected vertically and horizontally by light perforations and walkways. The project employs intense observation to the linear form of the housing fabric as well as to the different levels of semi-collective access and shared space. Suspended walkways and galleries are applied to connect from small homogenous shared spaces to bigger commune systems such as elevated gardens and courtyards. Finally, the relationships between small groups and large groups are presented and experienced in layers. Additionally, voids are formed to maintain optical, acoustic, and visual permeability qualities of each floor. In Hyper Link, the formation of communities becomes a process rather than a result. These unique relationships will always possess different stories and connections at different times. A new dynamically-changing neighbourhood, full of exploration, constantly adapting to a new social webs.
