Deep in the forest lived a little koala called Nuku. His home was in one of the highest eucalyptus trees in the forest.

4

One sunny day, Nuku decided to discover and explore the forest.

6

7

The air was so fresh and crispy in the forest. Nuku was so energetic. He climbed on one tree after another.

8

9

Nuku was discovering the forest all by himself, so free and so prideful. However, it was getting dark and Nuku was tired and hungry.

10

11

Nuku wanted to get back home, but he could not remember which way he had come from. Tears came to his eyes, when he realized he was lost.

12

13

Liza the Lizard heard Nuku crying and came to help him. Nuku saw Liza and said, " Hello, I am lost. Do you know how I can get back home?"

14

15

“ I am so sorry Nuku, I wish I could help you,” said Liza, “but I don`t know where your home is”.

16

17

Nuku was so upset. He was very hungry, and he missed his family too much.

18

19

All the birds in the forest were also watching and trying to find help for Nuku.

20

21

Tina the Brush Turkey heard the birds talking and came out of the bushes to help him.

22

23

“I know the way to your home Nuku,” said Tina, “ Go ahead and follow this pathway.

24

25

But, be careful Nuku”, warned Tina, “If you see the crocodiles, don`t go near and don`t talk to them”.

26

27

“Thank you very much for your help Tina”, replied Nuku as he wiped his tears away with his claws.

28

29

Joe the crocodile had heard from the other animals living in the forest that Nuku was lost. So, he decided to wait for Nuku to come, while he was sunbathing on the bank of the river.

30

31

Joe saw Nuku walking on the pathway. “Hi, Nuku”, said Joe, “I can help you get back home. But first, you must come down here”.

32

33

Suddenly, Nuku remembered what Tina told him. So, he didn`t stop and didn`t listen to Joe the crocodile.

34

35

On his way back home, Nuku saw Miss Betty the Wallaby having her dinner.

36

37

“Goodbye Nuku”, said Miss Betty, “I hope that you find your home soon. Your mother must have been worried about you”.

38

39

“Thank you Miss Betty said Nuku, and climbed on one tree after another until he found his home.

40

41

Finally, Nuku was home and he was very happy to be back with his family.

42

43

“I was so worried about you”, said his mother, “I want you to promise me that you will never leave home without telling me again”.

44

45

“Mom, I am very sorry for what I have done today”, said Nuku and promised his mom, “I will never leave home without telling you again”.

46

47

It was a long and tiresome day. Soon, Nuku fell asleep, safe and warm in his bed.
