PLASTIQUE MAGAZINE: ISSUE 4

The design and art direction of ‘Plastique’ magazine, a quarterly fashion magazine published in London.

ELEPHANT MAGAZINE: ISSUE 5 Issue 5 of Elephant which includes four new bespoke headline typefaces and one bespoke numeral set.

NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE Matt Willey was brought in by design director Arem Duplessis to help redesign the weekly magazine.

TYPOGRAPHY

CENTRAL SCHOOL IDENTITY Founded in 1906 and part of the University of London, Central’s courses are held in high regard. The brief was to create an exuberant new identity which retained a sense of the schools heritage and prestige.

BEN SAUNDERS IDENTITY A new identity for polar explorer Ben Saunders. The first applications of the new identity includes exhibition stand, postcards, polo shirts and equipment branding.

WIRED MAGAZINE TYPEFACE A typeface designed for Wired. Used throughout the magazine and iPad app for chapter headers the typeface can be coloured in numerous ways in order to suit the page it sits on.

DEALERWARD IDENTITY Dealerward designs, makes and installs bespoke furniture.

BLAZINGWORD IDENTITY

A new typeface, based on an old typewriter sample, designed for the soon-to-belaunched identity of literary website ‘Blazingword’.

BOOK DESIGN WONDERS OF THE UNIVERSE

Design of Professor Brian Cox’s second book in the ‘Wonders’ series including diagrams and picture research throughout. Studio8 commissioned and art directed Nathalie Lees to create double page spread infographics of the main themes within each chapter. Published by HarperCollin’s the book accompanies Cox’s new TV series of the same name.

THE PHILOSOPHY OF STRANGERS Design of photographer Franklyn Rodgers’ book, published by the Association of Black Photographers. The work collected in this, the first monograph of his work, presents a range of his personal portrait projects which include many artists, writers and cultural commentators.

STUDIO8 AT THE TYPOGRAPHIC CIRCLE 27 May 2010 // JWT, 1 Knightsbridge Green // The talk by Studio8 at the Typographic Circle titled, “Collaboration in Type & Print”. Zoë Bather went through a number of the studio’s projects culminating with their identity work for the Central School launched earlier this year. She showed one project leading to another and the way that a friend, contact, previous colleague (etc.) lead to another project and so on. It was cleverly illustrated below:
