Study reveals benefits of playing golf on mental health
A recent study reveals that nearly 90% of UK golfers believe that playing golf has had a positive effect on their mental health. The study, conducted by Golf Care, involved surveying 1,623 golfers across the country to gather insights on their experiences with mental health issues and the influence of golf on their well-being.
The survey was conducted against the backdrop of professional golfer Rory McIlroy's decision to withdraw from the PGA Tour's RBC Heritage tournament at Hilton Head, citing a focus on his mental health and overall well-being following the Masters at Augusta.
Among the respondents, 28% acknowledged having experienced mental health problems at some point in their lives, while 8% were uncertain about their past experiences. However, an overwhelming majority of golfers, 95%, agreed that playing golf positively contributes to mental health. In fact, 89% reported experiencing a direct positive impact on their mental well-being as a result of their involvement in golf.
