May is the start of an exciting season around here – and I am thrilled to be part of it! My name is Kim Cripps, and I am the new editor of Enjoy Hoover.

My family and I moved to Hoover from a neighboring city four years ago. We already spent most of our free time here, so putting down permanent roots made sense. The city continues to grow and change a little more each year, but what remains constant is the sense of community that transcends zip codes. Just as schools begin summer break, Regions Tradition (page 8) and the SEC Baseball Tournament (page 6) will usher in thousands of visitors. Our team has compiled an outstanding guide of where to eat, play and shop to make the most of your Hoover vacation or staycation. Need a table for a sports team or family reunion? Mitzi Eaker gives her restaurant recommendations. (page 14). Left your sunhat at home? Carmen Brown has tips on where to find a new one. (page 22).
But perhaps the best advice of all is where and when to find fresh strawberries at your local farmers market. (page 25)
