lmighty God, Who has given us this good land for our heritage; We humbly beseech Thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Thy favor and glad to do Thy will. Bless our land with honorable ministry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion, from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people, the multitude brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endow with Thy spirit of wisdom those whom in Thy name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that through obedience to Thy law, we may show forth Thy praise among the nations of the earth. In time of prosperity fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in Thee to fail; all of which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. --Washington D.C., March 4, 1801 GOOD NEWS TUCSON • www.GoodNewsTucson.com

Four Governments Claim Tucson Territory
T
ucson is an extremely old settlement with a rich layering of history and pre-history. Archaeological excavations have revealed adobe huts, pit houses, and irrigation systems built by the Hohokam tribe who inhabited and farmed the area nearly 2,000 years ago. The Hohokam have since vanished; in fact, their name, means "those who have vanished." This name was given to them by the Pimas, the Native Americans who occupied the site of present-day Tucson when the first white settlers arrived, and after whom Pima County is named. "Tucson" is also derived from a Pima word, "Stjukshon" or "Chuk-son," meaning "spring at the foot of a black mountain." Since its founding, Tucson has operated under four governments: Spain, Mexico, the United States, and the Confederacy. One of the first Spanish visitors was Father Eusebio Francisco Kino, a Jesuit missionary who arrived in 1687. Tucson was officially founded as a Spanish colony less than one hundred years later, in 1775, and the Spanish settlers built the Presidio of San Augistin del Tucson as protection from the Apache. Part of this walled presidio still exists today, and its nickname, "Old Pueblo," is now extended to the city as a whole. When Mexico won independence from Spain in 1821, Tucson became a Mexican town. In 1853 the United States acquired from Mexico the Gadsden Purchase, a strip of land that included Tucson. Before 1863, when Arizona gained territorial status, Tucson briefly belonged to the Confederacy. Tucson became the capital of the Arizona Territory in 1867. Tucson played an integral role in the romance of the Old West. The city was the scene of gunfights, brawls, and attacks by Native Americans; neighboring Tombstone was the site of the legendary gunfight at the O.K. Corral. Tucson also participated in the great gold rush when prospectors moved east from California into Arizona. The effects of this migration were lasting since Tucson became the center of a mining industry that continued unabated into the 1970s.

Healthy Climate Attracts Settlers, Tourists By the time it became the 48th state in 1912, Arizona was famous for the sunny climate and dry air that made it ideal as a healthy place where people could visit and settle. In 1920 Tucson became the first city in the nation to have a municipal airport. At the same time, major highways were being built. Tourism became one of Tucson's strongest industries and remains so today. During World War II the city contributed to the war effort when the government established the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base nearby. Tucson has since emerged as a major cultural center and one of the most sophisticated cities in the Southwest. Today's Tucson is the second largest city in Arizona with more than 840,000 people living in its metropolitan area. Public and private sectors continue to join forces to improve Tucson's standard of living and business environment. With an expanding economy based on high-technology industries, modern Tucson aggressively preserves its multicultural heritage and pioneer spirit. ro-life advocates often say that the word “abortion” has lost its meaning. Even though abortion has gotten some attention with the proposed health care reform bill, the pro-life commercial of Tim Tebow during the Super Bowl, and the recent pro-life policies that have been put into place in our state, many people do not have a true understanding of the issue of abortion. I became aware of the devastating impact of abortion, for both the mothers and the unborn, after hearing a speaker at a church service in July 2008. I felt God calling me to get involved in the abortion issue and, since that time, I have been presenting prolife presentations at churches in Tucson. One part of my message focuses on the healing that God has for those involved in abortion. Statistics show that over 30% of Protestant women are post abortive. Women who’ve had an abortion can be so traumatized by the decision that they’ve made that they may experience what is called “post abortion syndrome.” This syndrome includes symptoms such as drug and alcohol abuse and flashbacks of the abortion. On top of this, women have various health risks after an abortion. I believe that God’s desire for women is to receive His complete healing: physically, emotionally, and spiritually. When talking about the topic of abortion, I cannot leave out what is experienced by the unborn. In America there are 3,600 abortions performed every day, and that totals to about 1.3 million every year. An article (found on The National Right to Life website) titled “Pain of the Unborn” quoted a neurosurgeon who said that the unborn are “fully capable of experiencing pain” during an abortion procedure. A neurologist also stated that “the fetal brain has the full complement of brain cells present in adulthood, ready and waiting to receive pain signals from the body.” I believe that the more aware we are of the excruciating pain that the unborn experience as they are being aborted, the more likely we are to stand up and be a voice for the voiceless. How in awe of God I’ve been in while on this journey! It is His great desire to see abortion eradicated in our city and our nation. He wants the unborn to experience the destiny and life that He has
for them, but we have to partner with Him in this battle for life. Scripture says in Proverbs 31:8 to “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Ensure justice for those who are perishing.” I believe it’s going to take a combined effort of the different pro-life ministries and of God’s people who will listen to the call and respond to the fight for the unborn.

Who or What Are You Worshiping?
H
umanity has always pondered the deeper questions of life. Where did we come from? What happens to us when we die? Is there life after death? Every religious system, even those that claim not to be religious, follows a prescribed pattern. Every religious system starts by explaining where the world came from and the origins of life. We will call it the system’s “creation story.” Then each system describes what went wrong; the fallen nature of the world, the definition of evil and the source of man’s problems. The final step is what it will take to make things right again. What man must do to bring life back into balance and harmony. Let’s use Christianity as the first example of a religious system. We will use a few verses from the Bible to illustrate each part. The Creation “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.” Genesis 1:26-28 (NKJ) The Fall “Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’” Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. “For God knows that in the day you eat of it 8

your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.” Genesis 3:1-7 (NJK) Redemption “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10 (NKJ) It is not a surprise to most people that Christianity would follow the formula, but what about Environmentalism? Is Environmentalism a religion? Follow the formula based on what you have been taught and then decide for yourself. The Creation Earth evolved over eons to a state of grace and unity in nature. The Fall Man came in and upset the balance of nature, polluting and taking from nature without putting anything back. Man is an energy sinner and there is a judgment day where the earth will be destroyed if we don’t repent and change our actions. The Redemption Man must repent and seek salvation through sustainability, renewable energy and leaving a zero carbon footprint. The redeemed will participate in communion by only eating organic food and drinking bottled water out of recyclable containers. Just from casual observation or by watching a few programs on the Green Channel, it is not hard to see the true believers evangelizing the masses to revert to village life, grow their own food and cut back on energy use. We hear the faithful advocating that a bicycle is better than a car, but if you have to
go very far, public transportation is the only way for the true believers. If you must have a car, it should be a hybrid or, better yet, electric. The masses should understand that our mankind’s sinful treatment of the planet means that we can not be trusted and therefore must relinquish our freedom in favor of the educated elite who are studied in the “Way” determining what is best for us. They will tax us into submission and absolute compliance to the new religious system. We are not to question the validity of the religious system because it is quickly replacing Christianity as the bedrock of our country. Christianity believes that by following God’s principles of good stewardship, we can manage our own property and our own business in way that honors God. Environmentalism believes that man is too stupid to manage his own life and must be brought into submission by those who enforce the rules of the new religion. Have you bought into the new religion? Are you an unthinking sheep being led down the road of oppression by those who use the environment to rob you of your freedom? It is not too late to consider worshiping the Creator of everything we enjoy around us rather than worshiping the creation.
In the New Living Translation of the Bible, in the book of Romans starting in Chapter 1 verse 20 through verse 25 we read,“From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. The result was that their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they became utter fools instead. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people, or birds and animals and snakes. So God let them go ahead and do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. So they worshiped the things God made but not the Creator himself, who is to be praised forever. Amen.” Happiness in life is dependent upon your understanding of Who or what you worship.

This would also allow individual consumers to legally purchase and import their own legally prescribed medications “for personal use”. “We’re acutely aware of the fact that about ith thousands of U.S. Christians praying one-third of the elderly in this country don’t have to God for affordable medications, some access to reliable prescription drug coverage,” said that many need just to stay alive, God may very Representative James C. With the answer to affordable prescription medications so readily available to U.S. citizens, then why are so many Americans still not taking full advantage of this buying option? The best answers to this question comes from nine years of in-depth research having been conducted by Christians associated with International Pharmaceutical Ministry, Inc. and/or International Pharmaceutical
Foundation, Inc.. Their answers are as follows: (1). LACK OF KNOWLEDGE: Most Americans just do not know that they can legally buy prescribed medications from Mexico and bring them back into the U.S. for their own personal use. To get current information about regulations on importing drugs from Mexico, you can find a wealth of factual information at: www.peoplesguide. com. This is the official web site to “The People’s Guide to Mexico, and is published by Mr. David Eidell, a world renowned expert and published author regarding, among other things, buying and importing prescription drugs from Mexico. (2). MISINFORMATION OF FACTS ABOUT MEDICATIONS FROM MEXICO: Many Americans just are so grossly misinformed about the safety issues concerning medications from Mexico that they refuse to take full advantage of this buying option. The fact is that hundreds of thousands of Americans have been buying their prescription medications from Mexico for years, without any more adverse effects than if they had purchased their prescription medications right here in the U.S. (3). GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATIONS: At this present date, approximately two hundred thousand Americans cross the U.S./ Mexico border every month to legally purchase prescription medications. Eighty percent of these Americans live in one of the four U.S. states that border with Mexico. As such, it appears to be geographically impossible for many Americans to take advantage of this buying option. However, Americans can order their prescription medications on-line from a Mexican pharmacy. To get the most current information concerning Christian owned and operated on-line personal medication service providers, who provide this type of specialized” DOOR-TO-DOOR” service from licensed, professional, and most of all, reputable Mexico pharmacies, go to: http://godly-meds. com. There you will find out how Americans living anywhere in the U.S. can legally take full advantage of vast savings on their prescription medications from Mexico, all from the safety and comfort of their own home.
(4). FEAR FACTORS: Border town violence is out of control. Even people who have been crossing the U.S./ Mexico border for years to purchase their medications are now afraid to make the crossing. Breaking U.S. laws regarding importation of foreign drugs may lead to your arrest in the U.S. Breaking Mexican laws regarding purchasing of drugs may lead to your arrest in Mexico. Penalties for drug offenses are strict and convicted offenders can expect large fines and jail sentences up to 25 years. Unknowingly breaking the law, or getting an illegal Mexican prescription, even unknowingly, from someone who is not authorized to issue it does not excuse a U.S. citizen from prosecution in Mexico. If you lie to customs about having drugs and are caught, the consequences could be simple, like having the drugs taken away, or very serious, such as going to jail. Other fear factors and concerns are: • Drugs you purchase in Mexico may be counterfeit. • Many Mexican pharmacy employees have no medical training. • In many cases, you do not know where the drugs were made or how they were handled. • If you receive directions for use at all, they might not be in English. (5). INCONVENIENCE Drive time and fuel costs as well as very long lines at all U.S./Mexico border crossings are major reasons that Americans don’t want to go to Mexico to purchase prescription drugs. Long return lines turn a seemingly few hour trip from somewhere as close as Tucson, Arizona into an all day affair. Even people crossing over into the U.S. from Mexico who have nothing to declare must wait in line, taking as little as 30 minutes or up to 3 hours. The wait can grow even longer when people crossing back over have numerous prescription medications to declare. You must declare the drugs at Customs upon your return to the United States. U.S. Customs permit people to bring back reasonable amounts of medications for personal use, but does not allow stockpiling or purchasing large amounts of drugs for what will be GOOD NEWS TUCSON • www.GoodNewsTucson.com

assumed is a commercial or resale purpose. CONCLUSION: The time has come for Americans to turn to God instead of government to meet some of our most basic needs, including affordable medications. Christians should pray and ask God for direction and guidance regarding the cost of their prescription medications. Could His answer be for you to buy the prescriptions in Mexico? For me personally, and for those that I hold dear, the Mexico buying option has indeed been the answer to our daily prayers for affordable and quality prescription medications

Steps to Peace WithGod Step 1: God’s Purpose - Peace and Life God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life— abundant and eternal. The Bible says ... “We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 Why don’t most people have this peace and abundant life that God planned for us to have? Step 2: The Problem - Our Separation God created us in His own image to have an abundant life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him. God gave us a will and freedom of choice. We chose to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God. The Bible says ... “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 Our choice results in separation from God. Our attempts to reach God People have tried in many ways to bridge this gap between themselves and God ... The Bible says ... “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 14:12 “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” Isaiah 59:2
people. The Bible says ... “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2:5 “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” 1 Peter 3:18 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 God has provided the only way ... Each person must make a choice ... Step 4: Our Response - Receive Christ We must trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and receive Him by personal invitation. The Bible says ... “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20 “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12 “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 Where are you? Will you receive Jesus Christ right now? Here is how you can receive Christ: 1. Admit your need. (I am a sinner.) 2. Be willing to turn from your sins (repent). 3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave. 4. Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. (Receive Him as Lord and Savior.) How to Pray: Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name, Amen.
