Wounded Warriors Family Support Shelby Mustang GT500 High Five Tour June 25th will mark the start of our High Five Tour across America in our 2012 Shelby Mustang GT-500 “SuperSnake” as we thank Americans for their support of our military families and to raise funds and awareness for the mission of Wounded Warriors Family Support: To provide support to the families of those who have been wounded, injured, or killed during combat operations. Led by Colonel John Folsom, USMCR (Ret.), this is the third year for the tour which has traveled to all 48 contiguous states and met

with thousands of Americans. People attending a High Five Tour event are given the opportunity to sign the car and share a message of hope for our wounded warriors. The Shelby is auctioned off at the end of each tour. “It is an honor to drive around this great country and meet face to face with the Americans who help fulfill our mission,” said Col. Folsom,

founder and president of Wounded Warriors Family Support. “The support for our military families is tremendous and I look forward to thanking in person as many people as possible.” A complete list of tour stops and more information is available at www.highfivetour. com. Many stops will be at the Ford Dealerships who have given generously to Wounded Warriors Family Support. More information about our organization is found at www.woundedwarriorsfamilysupport.org.

The Mustang Club of America — If you’re reading this, you’re obviously a Mustang enthusiast. So here’s a question for you: Do you know that there is an organization that works on a national level for all of us who are Mustang enthusiasts? An organization that makes it possible for hundreds of Mustang and Ford Car Shows and Mustang track events to be held all over the country each year? An organization that embraces all Mustangs and works to record the history of the Mustang from its introduction on April 17th, 1964 all the way up to the 2013 Mustang of today? There is such an organization that does all of these things plus a lot more. It’s the “Mustang Club of America” which I am very proud to be a member of. As an MCA member, I would like to say “Thank You! For reading this article and invite you to come join us and become a member of the largest Mustang club in the world. The Mustang Club of America was founded in 1976 by Mustang enthusiasts who wanted to make sure that the heritage and history of the Mustang would always be remembered and has been the voice of the Mustang hobby ever since. As a national Mustang organization, the MCA works direct with Ford Motor Company to the benefit of all Mustang owners. The MCA has been instrumental in the design and improvements of many years of the Ford Mustang. If you own a 1994 or newer Mustang, you can thank the MCA as the MCA fought to make sure that the Probe wasn’t the Mustang of the future in the early 1990’s. The MCA is also the only car club to ever have it’s own model; that is, the MCA Limited Edition Mustang. In fact, you can go to your Ford Dealer today and order one. If you do and you’re an MCA member, be sure to use your MCA X-Plan when you do. This is just one of the many benefits that MCA members receive when they join. In addition to many money saving benefits such as the X-Plan above, MCA members are mailed 12 issues of Mustang Times, the MCA’s 64-page full color monthly magazine that keeps you up to date on what’s happening in the MCA and the Mustang hobby as a whole. It’s a great publication that is often referred to as “the best car club magazine” in the world. Reading about the hobby is great, but do you want to show off your Mustang? No problem! The MCA helps around 160 of our 200 plus MCA Regional Mustang Clubs host their own Mustang and Ford car shows each year. These MCA Regional Mustang Clubs are located all over the United States and in several foreign countries. As an MCA Regional Mustang Club, they work hard to put on Mustang and Ford shows that benefit the charities they support and their local communities. Did you know that the Sturgis Mustang Rally is one of these MCA Regional Mustang Club shows? Yes, it is. In addition to the local MCA Regional Mustang Club show and track events, the MCA awards 5 very special MCA National Shows each year; 4 National Shows and 1 Grand National Show. These MCA National Shows are awarded to a select few of the

MCA Regional Mustang Clubs who request hosting them from various cities and states all across the United States. For 2013, these very special MCA National Shows will be held in: 1. Beaumont, Texas on April 19th to 21st, “Ponies in the Park” www.poniesinthepark.com 2. Reno, Nevada on June 7th to 9th, “Unbridled Spirit Reno” 3. www.unbrideledspiritreno.com 4. Ashville, North Carolina on July 5th to 7th, “Stars. Stripes and Stangs” www.brmcoa.org/stars-stangs-2013-national-show. com 5. Indianapolis, Indiana on August 9th to 11th, “Race to Indy” www.mustangclubofindianapolis.com 6. And the MCA’s Grand National Show, “Mustangs at the Mickyard” which will be held in Orlando, Florida on August 31 to September 1st, www.mustangsatthemickyard.com As you can see, many of the MCA’s National Shows are held in very prestigious locations such as the 2013 MCA Grand National, Mustangs at the Mickyard, which will be held at Walt Disney World. The really big news buzzing through the MCA at this time is that the MCA will be the host of the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration! This will be biggest Mustang car show and gathering of Mustangs that the world has ever seen! The Mustang will turn 50 on April 17th, 2014 and this will be the biggest Mustang milestone that we will ever see in our lifetimes! And there’s more kudo’s for the Mustang. Turning 50 will make the Mustang the only car in the world that has been continually produced for 50 straight years! To celebrate this historic achievement and the Mustang’s 50th birthday, the MCA is hosting the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration which will be much more than just a Mustang car show. The Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration is for all Mustang owners, enthusiasts and anyone else who wants to share in the Mustang’s 50th celebration. You do not need

to be an MCA member to come, although we will extend the invitation to join the MCA and become a member. The Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration will start off with a nation-wide Pony Drive that will leave many different cities all across the United States and end up in Norman, Oklahoma for a 2 day kick off party for the 50th. With lots of things planned for this event, every Mustang enthusiasts who loves to drive their Mustang will want to come. Then, on Sunday, April 13, 2014, thousands of Mustangs will leave to go to the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration of their choice at either Las Vegas, Nevada in the west or Charlotte, North Carolina in the east. Both locations will have opening ceremonies on Thursday, April 17th, 2014, the Mustangs official unofficial 50th birthday. I say it that way because although Ford Mustangs were produced before April 17th, 1964, this was the first day that the Mustang was on sale to the public. That’s why April 17th, 1964 has been considered the Mustang’s birthday ever since. Come visit the Mustang’s 50th official website at www.mustang50thbirthdaycelebration. com and make plans to attend today. Remember, the website is growing all the time so visit often. You don’t want to miss any of the 50th news as it happens! Yes, the Mustang Club of America is the place to be if you’re a true Mustang enthusiast. Again, I would like to invite you to come and join us at www.mustang.org and become an MCA member so you can receive all the benefits the MCA has to offer. That said, MCA member or not, I look forward to seeing you on the road in your Mustang!

The Ford Racing School at Miller Motorsports Park (MMP) in Tooele, Utah, is the world’s only Ford-sponsored high-performance driving school. It started out in 2006 with a fleet of 20 Mustang GTs. Since then it has grown to include a fleet of 10 additional Mustang GTs, 15 FR500S Mustangs as higher-performance option cars and two Ford skid cars. The school’s success has spawned the Boss Track Attack program for original owners of the Ford Mustang Boss 302. An outstanding relationship with Ford Motor Company has led to the recent launch of the Ford Racing F-150 SVT Raptor Assault program, which will conduct its first full season in 2013. The Ford Racing School also includes safe-driving programs for corporate groups and teens. The Ford Racing School includes experiential offerings ranging from relatively mild to definitely wild. At the entry-level end of the spectrum is the Mustang Experience, a twohour program that provides 30 minutes of classroom time with an abundance of behind-the-wheel track time. Each student drives a track-prepped Mustang GT for 10 laps in a leadand-follow drill behind one of the school instructors, rotating so that each student gets two laps as the lead car behind the instructor. Following their drive, each student gets two “hot laps” riding shotgun with an instructor to experience the full capabilities of the car. The bread and butter of the Ford Racing School is its comprehensive high-performance driving program. There are one-, two- and three-day programs available, each day expanding upon the previous day’s curriculum with more in-depth training and using different track configurations. At the upper end of the spectrum is the four-day Race Licensing School, which includes the weekend rental of a Ford Mustang FR500S and supervised participation in two days of racing with the Utah Region of the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) and qualifies the graduate to obtain a racing license with NASA or the equivalent.

The return of the legendary Ford Mustang Boss 302 in 2012, combined with the success of the Ford Racing School, prompted Ford Motor Company to collaborate with the school to create the Boss Track Attack, a program that allows original Boss 302 owners to attend a one-day school at Miller Motorsports Park to familiarize them with the capabilities built into these outstanding sports cars. A fleet of 15 Boss 302 Mustangs is utilized as the training fleet, and each school includes a pre-school dinner in the Larry H. Miller Total Performance Museum and the option of a second school day for additional training in a school Mustang GT or a Ford Mustang FR500S. Based on the success of the Boss Track Attack program, the Ford Racing School collaborated once again with Ford Motor Company to create the Ford Racing F-150 SVT Raptor Assault program using slightly modified versions of Ford’s outstanding production F-150 SVT Raptor. The Raptor Assault program provides hands-on experience in high-performance off-road driving on a variety of terrain on the various off-road venues at Miller Motorsports Park and is comprised of three different offerings. The Raptor Assault Experience combines a brief classroom session with driving on MMP’s RockCrawling Course and Off Road Short Course, followed by two hot laps with an instructor behind the wheel. The Raptor Assault OneDay School combines a classroom session with driving experiences on the Rock-Crawling Course, the Off Road Short Course and the MMP Desert Course and also includes a hot laps ride-along. If you have the need for speed, and you bleed Ford Blue when you

cut yourself, make it a point to add a visit to the Ford Racing School to your bucket list! MillerMotorsportsPark.com 435-27-SPEED (435-277-7333).

DICE ROLL

After a decade of building world-class design award winning cars, MRT is celebrating the 2013 Sturgis Mustang Rally by building this year's one of a kind Sturgis Edition Mustang. Since 2002, when MRT was found by Scott Hoag, MRT has been building custom customer cars, show cars, race cars, and design award winning SEMA cars. Over a dozen of these cars have been featured in magazines such as Mustangs and Fords, Mustang Times, Car and Driver, Mustang Enthusiast and Ford Trader. Prior to starting MRT, Hoag spent 17 years at the Ford Motor Company, designing plant floor systems, and in the Chassis Engineering, Systems Engineering, Vehicle Engineering and Engineering Management areas. The 2001 Bullitt and the 2003 Mach 1 were vehicles productions that were led by Hoag and his team. His Ford experience combined with a systems engineer approach to design, gives MRT vehicles a special place in the enthusiast market. Hoag insists MRT delivers a full integration of complementary modifications. What this means in the end, is that an MRT designed car will have a well thought out, brilliantly executed list of vehicle enhancements that will improve the base vehicle style, Powertrain performance, handling performance, driver interface and entertainment. Each one of the MRT custom cars has something that will appeal to every car enthusiast. For the 2013 Sturgis Edition Mustang, MRT will start with a 2012 Mustang GT that they have used to develop products such a Powertrain tune, chassis upgrades, interior system refinements, stylish yet functional aerodynamic features, ultimate high end MRT exhaust and wrap it in the world class MRT custom paint. According to Hoag, the first step in building the SMR 7 was to optimize the chassis so that car has the "MRT Performance Stance". This

stance screams "I am a road hungry, aggressive driving machine"! MRT has tested this system and tuned it to be a streetable track day car. This not only means it will handle the corners on the road course like a champion but will have manners enough that its new owner will be able to drive it on the street. The difference between bolting on chassis parts and delivering a tuned chassis is in the vehicle specific set up and chassis tuning. Going to this level of vehicle construction, confirms MRT as a world class car builder. One key element in the chassis often taken for granted is the brakes. This is not over looked in the MRT/SMR Mustang. Performance handling cars in performance handling situations need to have a brake system designed to balance the rest of the vehicle dynamics. Too much brake is as bad as carrying too much weight, too little brake is .... well, as you can imagine, just plain embarrassing. MRT optimizes the brake components to match the demands the car is going to require from them. Another point of focus is where the rubber meets the road. This is oh so important. MRT selects the right light weight styled wheel with the right tire composition and tread design to enable the car to perform to its designed intent. Next in line is the Powertrain/driveline. The 5.0L four valve Powertrain is a spectacular engine! Ford really got it right with this one. With that being stated, MRT squeezed a little more love from this 5.0 and put more of the power to the road. By including a C&L cold-air induction along with premium fuel calibration, giving it a little old school roll at idle, adding a MRT H-pipe and axle back tuned exhaust, reducing its rotating mass by joining a Dynotech Aluminum Drive Shaft and a smooth engaging performance clutch by ACE Clutch, the final driveline tour will be changing the fluid in the trans and stabilizing the shifter support which will all the owner to have crisp confident shifts. MRT did not skimp on the exterior. This car is smokin' hot with its 3D Carbon rockers, diffusers and fender vents along with a MRT front splitter, Boss 302 rear spoiler, Silver Horse Racing quarter windows, black aluminum fuel door and MRT rear window louvers. MRT carefully selected this list of add-ons knowing it will produce an aggressive, yet stylish, performance Mustang. The slam dunk feature is the custom designed hand applied show car paint that is a world known trademark of MRT. Sherwin Williams paint is always the paint choice of MRT. World class products plus world class craftsmanship equals stun ning final results that speak for themselves. Even at night this pony will have an unforgettable "glow". No stickers are used on this car. Each line, stripe and letter is meticulously custom hand painted. Carefully integrated LED lighting into the headlights and accent points around it sleek body, will give this car a subtle but substantial uniqueness when the natural light is low. Leaving the interior untouched would be criminal. The stock interior is replaced with the MRT custom diamond pleated leather interior. This high end luxurious interior is the perfect balance of exotic performance and old school muscle. MRT developed this interior on the award winning MRT Predator Mustang. The door panels and center console arm rest are trimmed to enhance. The team at Kicker incorporated the perfect solution

for audiophiles who want to have big sound without big compromises in packaging, weight and cost. The Kicker Soundgate subwoofer and amp is added to the factory system to give it a big sound when desired. The icing on the cake is the MRT Hitechfx custom finishes applied to select engine components and interior components to finish the balance theme of style and performance. This example of attention to the smallest detail, would make any owner of this car proud. This car will have the proud

distinction of being the one of a kind 2013 Sturgis edition Mustang. There will be NO second built. It is truly a piece of Mustang history. The cost to

build the 2013 SMR Mustang is $65,000.00 and the collect ability of it being 1 of 1 special edition makes it an investment at any price. However, someone could win this car with the roll of the

dice. It is true, like in past years, the Sturgis Mustang Rally and MRT are going to put this car up as a prize in the SMR Dice Roll Challenge. Even if the car is not won in the dice roll, it will be the main attraction for the auction at the end of the Sturgis Mustang Rally where someone can still drive it home. returns to Sturgis Many visitors to the Sturgis Mustang Rally have taken the opportunity to have their cars tuned by the specialists from the Apple Racing Team. “Bringing a car to Sturgis is a big deal,” says Steve Sutton, director for Apple Racing. “The owners want to get the most out of their Mustangs. We've been pleased to work with visitors to SMR for the last several years.” The Apple Racing team brings their hightech gear to Sturgis and works from dawn to dark on all kinds of jobs. “We've done supercharger upgrades, worked on cold air intakes and done lots of custom tuning. We've taken pre-orders and delivered parts right to Sturgis and we've also had them shipped direct to the customers, wherever they happen to be,” added Sutton.

Apple's team includes Casey Wittmer and Steve Ahlman, both AVT-certified

Ford lead technicians, with more than 25 years of experience between them. “It's fun for us to move our headquarters over to Sturgis for four days at the end of the summer,” says Casey Witt-mer. “We work on all kinds of cars in Apple Valley, Minnesota, our home base. The Mustang own-

ers who visit Sturgis for SMR bring a real high energy with them. They're really passionate about their cars and we love interacting with them!”

Some impressive partnerships have come out of Apple Racing's visiting Sturgis. There have been situations where cars need a little

more time and attention. Sutton and the crew have been able to work with Dan Jacobsen and Jacobsen Ford, Sturgis, another sponsor of SMR. “Dan has actually opened up his facilities to us. We can really spread out in his shop. He's been quite generous and a great partner.” Apple Racing will add a new wrinkle to the services they offer at SMR in 2013, bringing in a Dyno. “We expect this will be pretty popular with our customers and the rest of the SMR crowd,” says Steve Sutton. “Each year, we try to take it up another notch.” Those big sounds you'll hear at ThunderDome and Main Street in Sturgis will be both roaring Mustang engines and noise from the happy owners whose cars have been treated with TLC provided by the team from Apple Racing!

We are SO excited to be a part of the Sturgis Mustang Rally for the 5th year! We have enjoyed sponsoring what we think is the best Mustang event in the country. We must admit that our sponsorship has always been more about supporting the rally and the hobby than pushing product. We enjoy getting out and meeting all of you and having a good time too! Superior is a family owned business specializing in Mustang parts and accessories for all years of Mustangs. We recently moved into our new facility

in Greeley, Colorado. Our business grew out of a true love for the Mustang and the hobby. Just like you, we really enjoy taking the cruise down main street in Sturgis with 700 of our dearest friends. Because we have a true interest in the hobby we strive to offer the best quality products available. But more than that, our staff we take the time to talk to you about your needs and give you expert advice on parts you need. We love what we do and it shows. Over the years our business has evolved from a

small start-up to the company it is today serving all 50 states and so many other countries we have lost count (20 the last anyone remembers). Yet we have kept the small company feel not only for ourselves but for you the customer. We hope you have a wonderful time at the rally and make sure you say hello to us if you see us around!
