Perseverance Sculpture, Other on Wood W:36 H:60 D:12 in 2019 Ed Whitmore
invocation of my parents horrific life experiences during world war two in Poland and in Nazi concentration camps. though this all happened before I was born, for my whole life I have been haunted by what they endured and survived. Pair of large sculptures created using glulam cutoff beam, vintage railroad track and spike, barbed wire as well as found and vintage objects. The "trees" growing out of the sculpture symbolize perseverance in starting a new life after surviving the Holocaust.

Point of Reckoning Painting, Oil Color on Canvas W:48 H:36 cm 2018 Laura Whitmer
This painting is very personal as it was painted in a time of my life where I was fighting panic attacks and depression. This painting can be interpreted in various ways. Although unbeknownst at the time, within the composition the clouds and water to the left of the boat makes a circle almost like a point of escape from the storm. I did not realize this until a year after I painted the scene. I find comfort in this friendly accident as I think the Lord "Yahweh" was telling me, When you reckon with your fear and face your trouble with faith, he will provide a way of escape. We don't walk alone.

Hero Digital Arts, Digital Painting on Photo W:20 H:12.50 cm 2020 Kiddo Pan
My fourth cousin has always been the someone that I look up to. She is beautiful, smart and cool. I have learned a lot from her, went on many adventures with her and every time I need help she is the first person I think of. She has introduced to me what the world is like, letting me know about the diverse culture beyond what I can see with my own eyes and give me the courage to go out there and explore. While she stays in our hometown, Inner Mongolia China, as an educator and teaches other kids how to dream. She is my hero.

The Brave And The Dead Digital Arts, Digital Painting on Fiberglass W:10.50 H:15 in 2022 Ryan Leatigaga
I like drawing robots. Ever since I was a kid, I was fascinated by shows like Transformers and Power Rangers and idolized creating characters for those properties. For this one, I wanted to try a pose called the Obari Pose. Named after the Japanese anime designer Masami Obari, this pose puts emphasis on the person's sword or weapon. I really wanted to train myself by drawing this pose, and it definitely taught me how to draw poses more easily.

Kintsugi, Red Painting, Oil Color on Canvas W:90 H:90 cm 2022 Nelly Marlier
It's called kintsugi (金継ぎ), or kintsukuroi (金繕い), literally golden (“kin”) and repair (“tsugi”). This traditional Japanese art restores new life to the broken object. The rupture is no longer representative of the end. The fractures become precious textures. It is the essence of resilience. As in our lives, we can be reborn from our falls and become beautiful unique people. Red like the Oriental lacquer, this canvas painted on the edges does not need a frame. It comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Oops Jewelry, Mixed Media on Concrete W:8 H:8 cm 2021 Stina Siqiong Wen
Jewelry is a tool that I use to explore the inner self. I strive to bring the visual and haptic quality of jewelry through contrasting colors and alternative materials to share serendipity. As a child, I used touch to explore the world around me, and with my jewelry, I hope to evoke that same curiosity by encouraging intuitive touch. It ultimately provokes dynamic interactions between wearer and viewer, visually and actually. In this body of work, I aim to awake sensory interaction. Growing up in an urban city where natural and industrial coexist harmoniously, brought me a different perspective. I am committed to finding my own definition of serendipity through daily studio practice. I believe if you treat one thing attentively, you can always find beauty in it. I work primarily with concrete, to me, it is not austere and bland but a flexible and shape-able material. I manipulate it in my own way to challenge its softness, tactility, and transparency.
