Resumo

A morte costuma ser um tema delicado para as pessoas, principalmente para a maioria das sociedades da cultura ocidental. No entanto, o tema, que faz parte da vida humana, é abordado por muitas obras literárias e cinematográficas, expondo a relação entre a morte e o amor. As relações amorosas tendem a envolver ciclos, o que, de maneira metafórica, pode significar que tais relações passam por mortes enquanto duram. O presente artigo apresenta uma análise do conto “A Mulher Esqueleto” e do filme “A Noiva Cadáver”, obras que exploram a relação entre amor e morte na literatura e no cinema.

Abstract

Death is a delicate subject for people, especially for most societies of Western culture. However, the theme, which is part of human life, is approached by many literary and cinematographic works, exposing the relationship between death and love. Love relationships tend to involve cycles, which, metaphorically, may mean that such relationships go through deaths while they last. This article presents an analysis of the story "The Skeleton Woman" and the movie "The Corpse Bride", works that explore the relationship between love and death in literature and cinema.
