WORLD OF WATERSPORTS

Founded in 1979 BIC Sport grew from the family’s passion for watersports and expertise in sustainable manufacturing. By the late 1980s BIC Sport was a world leader in windsurf manufacturing, and over the following 20+ years the company utilized their technological manufacturing skills on other passion projects including surf, kayak, junior racing dinghies and most recently, Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP). BIC’s core values of quality, durability and affordability form the foundation of the brand’s reputation and has opened the world of watersports to hundreds of thousands of watersports’ enthusiasts, thrill-seekers, and those simply happy to spend time out on the water enjoying nature. End of 2018, BIC Sport left the BIC group and became “Tahe Outdoors France”, starting a new chapter in the history of the company based in Vannes (Brittany/France). BIC Sport is now a licensed brand within the Tahe Outdoors Group, that has a strong heritage in the composite manufacture of high quality sea kayaks for the Northern European markets. The Tahe Outdoors Group has kept alive BIC Sport’s core values, including the consideration for the environment as a guiding principle of the company’s management and manufacturing activities. This commitment has been recognized by the Ecoride organization and other business awards.

Expert designers develop each Tahe Outdoors product, the majority of which are made in France, via a manufacturing process that ensures copies of the original design are faithfully reproduced according to the original sample. Tahe Outdoors’s exclusive construction methods and materials deliver many years of reliable, high frequency use. Today, thanks to its acquisition of the BIC Sport Brand, Tahe Outdoors is acknowledged as the pioneer of production surf boards in the highly demanding surf market. It’s also a European leader in the Sit-on-Top Kayak market thanks to a range of innovative products which have won numerous design awards. Stand Up Paddling (SUP) is an area of dynamic development for the company and represents more than ever the values of simplicity and accessibility that have made the BIC Sport brand such a long-standing success. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

BIC Sport/Tahe Outdoors has been manufacturing watersport products for nearly 40 years. Long before ‘eco-friendly’ was a buzzwordwe began developing “clean” manufacturing processes by recycling wherever possible, eliminating gas emissions and conserving energy and water. From factory to end-of-life, Tahe Outdoors manufacturing takes full consideration of the environment we all share.

Innovation, quality, durability are all key to respecting the environment

Innovation and product quality, whichever one you talk about, are essential factors in respecting the environment. Durable, innovative equipment is used for many seasons and needn’t be replaced by "the next big thing". The thousands of youngsters using the Techno 293 OD sail a hundred times more than most windsurfers manage, and never stop having fun, season after season, due to ACE-TEC durability and light weight. The surf schools that have invested in our DURA-TEC boards have done so safe in the knowledge that they will use them for years to come because they're ultra-tough and designed by a big-name shaper, making them less susceptible to the changing fads of what's fashionable or not. THE MACHINERY Tahe Outdoors France is the proud owner of an industrial tool that is unique in the world, capable of three different manufacturing techniques: thermoforming, thermoforming around a polystyrene core, and blow moulding/blown extrusion. Tahe Outdoors France is the only manufacturer in the world to have these three manufacturing techniques available on one production site. This enables us to produce six different product types with consistency, quality and faithfulness to the original design, every time.

ACE-TEC / TOUGH-TEC ACE-TEC: Under heat and pressure in aluminum molds we thermoform a durable, impact-resistant skin over fiberglass, epoxy resin and a molded, watertight EPS foam core. The board is then extracted from the mold and sent for finishing. Products using this technique: Designated Surf, Windsurf and SUP boards

TST Hollow Twin Sheet Technology: Two polyethylene sheets (deck and hull) are heat-molded in an aluminum mold then pressure-fused together. Products using this technique: Kayaks

DURA-TEC A tube of extruded (molten) polyethylene is gravity molded and then shaped by being blown against the inner walls of a hollow aluminum mold. Next itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s cooled, taken out of the mold and moved to a steel shaper where it is expansionfilled with high density polyurethane foam.
