This latest brand new board sport is largely based on the principles of simplicity and accessibility that have underpinned BIC’s enduring success. BIC Sport has become the world’s leading expert for water sports. A forerunner in the industrial scale manufacture of surf and SUP boards, a benchmark manufacturer in the demanding surf market, BIC Sport is also a European market leader in sit-on-top kayaks, with a range of innovative kayaks that have picked up numerous design awards. In competition sailing, BIC Sport is behind a new concept in Junior windsurf competitions, with the Techno 293 One Design that has seen massive growth in the last few years. And more recently BIC Sport has created a similar dynamic in the world of dinghy sailing, where their highly innovative O’pen BIC model has totally revitalised the world of child/youth dinghy racing. For its manufacturing/production, BIC Sport has created an industrial process facility that is unique in the field, using three differing construction technologies : thermoform, thermoform on a PE core, and blown extrusion. Located at its base in Vannes, Brittany, France, this production facility turns out over 65,000 pieces of product every year for export to more than 90 countries.

Sustainable development : a major priority for BIC Sport

BIC Sport has been manufacturing water sport products for over 30 years and long before there was any awareness of environmental issues, it was keen to use a « clean » manufacturing process where materials could be recycled, and the production process did not involve gas emissions. From start to end of life-cycle, BIC Sport products are environmentally-friendly. The manufacturing plant being located in France, all our products are made in accordance with the strict European Norms in terms of safety and working conditions.

With decades of experience in windsurf and surfboard manufacturing BIC Sport is a pioneer of thermoformed composite construction technology. Over the past few years we’ve refined the ideal composite lay-up for SUP, with ACE-TEC as the result. Three sizes suit the needs of experienced riders and newbies alike with a unique combination of durability, light weight and performance shapes. All ACE-TEC boards come standard with the FCS fin system, a premium diamond groove EVA deck pad, ergo-grip carry handle and integrated rail guard.

ACE-TEC 9’6’’ Designed as an all-round performer for light weight riders (under 140lbs/65kg) as well as a performance surf SUP for medium weight riders (up to 180lbs/80kg). The balanced rocker profile, smooth outline and progressive bottom contours lend themselves to surf performance without sacrificing flatwater glide. A fully convertible 2+1 FCS fin configuration allows the rider to optimize performance by matching fin selection for either surf or flatwater conditions.

ACE-TEC 10’6’’ / 10’6’’ Wind Designed as an all-round performer for riders up to 180lbs/80kg and as a performance surf SUP for riders up to 220lbs/100kg. Featuring even volume distribution, confidenceinspiring width and a refined rocker profile for surf performance as well as flatwater glide. A highly versatile SUP suitable for a wide range of conditions. The Wind version of the 10’6’’ ACE-TEC comes with a mastfoot so that a rig can be mounted. It’s then an ideal board for sailing in light to moderate winds on flatwater or in waves.

ACE-TEC 11’6’’ Shaped for riders up to 260lbs/120kg with substantial volume and width for excellent lateral stability. With the volume evenly spread along the length, its finely balanced rocker and longboard-style outline make it easy to handle in flatwater conditions while maintaining maneuverability in the surf zone. The 11’6” is also a great choice for families looking to bring along the kids or pets. 13'

Combine an ultra-durable polyethylene outer shell (like a kayak but lighter weight) with a full polyurethane foam core (like a surfboard) and what do you get? An extremely durable board for less money than you’d expect. Thermoformed in steel molds, ensuring consistent and accurate reproduction of the original shape. Proven and long lasting with great performance, ACS boards are aimed at beginner riders just getting into the sport looking for a strong, stable board for flatwater paddling with the potential to progress into surfing. They’re ideally suited to surf and SUP schools looking for strong, easy to use equipment that students can make rapid progress on. All ACS boards feature the FCS fin system, a premium diamond groove EVA deck pad and ergo-grip carry handle.

ACS SUP 9’4’’ Designed for light weight riders in waves and on flat water, the new 9’4” ACS is a highly versatile board and is particularly at home in waves. Its compact shape makes it stable and simple to ride despite its relatively small size. An excellent SUP to get kids and petite riders started on paddlesurfing.

ACS SUP 10’4’’ Designed for beginner to intermediate riders up to 180lbs/80kg.With the same great handling and evenly spread volume distribution as it’s bigger brother, the 10’4” is as easy to ride in flatwater, with superb directional stability, as it is maneuverable in small waves.

CLASSIC Series - Wood The proven and timeless Classic series blend beautiful and durable real bamboo construction with traditional longboard outlines. Excellent boards for flatwater paddling yet equally adept in small waves, perfect boards for performance in all conditions. These shapes offer moderate nose and tail rocker for control and maneuverability in the surf zone and a flat middle section for efficient paddling and directional control in flatwater. All Classic boards feature full glass single center fins and premium diamond groove EVA deck pads for comfort.

SCOUT Series - Clear EPS Delivering the same versatility as our Classic series but in a more performance surfinspired design. Constructed with clear EPS to reveal the quality core materials and real wood stringer. Relatively short, wide shapes provide stability while maintaining flatwater glide and superb handling in waves. The combination of flat deck and low rails assures maximum rider comfort and lots of speed while surfing. Featuring a progressive “thruster” fin configuration which is adaptable for flatwater paddling (center fin only) and wave performance (2+1 fin set-up).

Performance - PVC Made from PVC sandwich epoxy construction technology, allowing us to manufacture boards that are both lightweight and durable. The 9’2’’ Jet Wave is a high performance shape designed for “shortboard” style surfing. The 12’0’’Ocean model is an excellent open ocean “downwind” board as well as a smooth ride on flatwater and solid performer in the surf zone. Long and fairly narrow, it features reduced rocker running from the middle section to the tail with enough kick in the nose to eliminate diving in choppy conditions and while surfing. The 12’6’’ Touring model is designed to be stable and easy to paddle while retaining good speed for covering longer distances. With its large and well distributed volume it’s a board that can handle larger riders up to 250lbs/110kg or more. Its contoured nose section cuts through chop much better than an all-around style SUP, giving it more forward speed and a more comfortable paddling position. A recessed deck area lowers center of gravity for increased stability. 13'

SUP Air The all-new SUP Air 11’0’’ has been designed for all those plane, train and boat trippers who like to take their sport with them. Made from a highly abrasion, UV and knockresistant PVC, our patented manufacturing technology has enabled us to deliver boards that are strong, easy to learn on and deliver a smooth ride on flat water, in small waves and mild rapids. Comes with a compact carry/storage bag and pump for inflation, the SUP Air 11’0’’ BIC Sport Paddle Surf is simple to transport and set up for use.

Soft Our new SOFT boards have been developed for families, fitness paddlers and surf schools looking for boards that are above all easy and safe to ride. The shapes are based on our premium ACE-TEC models and feature full epoxy/fiberglass construction which is then fully wrapped in a soft foam on the deck and rails with a durable soft-skin sealed bottom.

With three construction options: alloy, fiberglass and carbon, riders can choose a paddle that fits their performance and price needs. The French touch!

For 2012 BIC Sport is launching a new range of surf boards, the SUPERFROG. Designed by top class shapers, they’re made with a new light weight Epoxy/fibreglass laminated polystyrene core. This technique differs from the more traditional polyester/ fibreglass around a polyurethane core by being much lighter and having vastly superior mechanical qualities, delivering a much better feel on the water.

Egg / Fish 2 x EGG boards and a FISH make up the short board part of the new SUPERFROG collection. The EGGS are designed for surfing in the smallest waves. Their relatively thick profile and comfortable width make them ideal for bigger and more experienced surfers to ride in light surf. But they’re also great fun for intermediate/lighter weight riders in any kind of conditions. 5’8’’ : short and wide, the 5’8’’ Egg has been shaped to let you surf even the smallest waves. The thin, rounded tail plus the concave V-finished hull give the board dynamic responsiveness. Going hard in soft surf is exactly what it likes ! 6’2’’ : this board is designed for riders looking for great fun and good progression. Its generous volume and rounded shape give it a really easy take-off. Its flat rocker gives it excellent glide allowing you to surf in your natural style without forcing. 6’0’’ FISH : A classic shape that has endured since the 70s, this is also the must-have weapon for light surf. It was designed for surfers who like riding smaller waves but who don’t want to move on to a Mini-Malibu or Longboard. Its tight rocker line and wide rear section give it excellent forward speed. The swallow tail gives it amazing carve, even in the tightest turns, despite its relative width. Can be configured for tri-fin (thruster) or old-school twinzer fin set-up.

Hydro Fish Four Peter Hosking signature shapes make up this range that combines versatility with performance. From 6'0" to 7'0" (for each size of rider a board to suit !), the Hydro Fish are for riders looking for a board that's shorter than a longboard or mini-mal, without dropping down to a shortboard. The Hydro Fish have enough volume for an easy take-off, good manoeuvrability and board speed. They're fitted with FCS Thruster M5 fins, and come with two extra fins for riding a Quad configuration.

Longboard The completely new Superfrog longboard series is a cocktail of traditional shapes and more modern ideas. They have all been shaped by Gérard Dabbadie. The 8’2’’ is a compact, versatile, high performance board that combines tradition and modern thinking, with its swallow tail and subtle wingers. In the same spirit, the 9’ has a more classic overall style combined with some more modern touches that give the board excellent glide and you an easy ride. Technology Two technologies to optimise your sailing BIC Sport is the only windsurf manufacturer in Europe and the only one to have mastered composite material technology, thermoformed in aluminium moulds, a technology which guarantees the exact replica of the original shapes designed by the shaper and riders. Several techniques are used and the material is optimised according to the sailing programs. CTS and TS This technology is relevant to the CTS and TS boards, which are boards made from a low-density polystyrene core, covered by a fibreglass coat with carbon fibre reinforcements. Resin is then applied to this fibre, and the whole mix undergoes a high-pressure thermoforming procedure in one single process. That gives optimum results from the materials, reducing weight and giving a performance equal to more expensive sandwich construction boards but with much better resistance to knocks than Epoxy Sandwich. • CTS : Stiffness, light weight and strength. Incorporates uni-directional carbon fibre reinforcements along the rails und under the footpad (Techno 293 One Design). • TS : Compromise weight/strength with glass fibre reinforcements at all the important points on the board (Techno / Core / Nova). Twin Sheet PE On the Beach boards, the outer skin is made out of polyethylene, the same as that used on BIC Sport kayaks with their proven strength. The internal construction is a high-density polyurethane foam with its massive knock-resistance properties. This technology means we can produce ultra-strong boards which suit perfectly the needs of windsurf schools, and that of individuals just getting started.

Techno 293 OD What helped the Techno 293 OD become such a successful Class Racing board was its general performance and easy control. With a high volume and moderate outline, the Techno 293 OD provides a stable platform for learning to windsurf. A daggerboard provides directional stability and makes sailing upwind a breeze. In light winds, the near 3 m length helps the board really glide through the water, making windsurfing an exciting option in sub-planing conditions. Once the wind gets up, the concave hull helps boost the board onto the plane making for great funboard sailing. BIC Windsurf | Nova

For starting to windsurf and progressing

These boards have been designed specifically for learning to windsurf and progress towards funboarding in the best of conditions. With their comfortable volume and wide deck area, these are great boards for making your first runs and starting to have fun from day 1. They are made using the thermoformed composite technology and are as a result much lighter than those of the competition. The deck is covered in EVA foam for extra grip and comfort. Nova boards have a retractable daggerboard to help return back to shore safely. The multiple footstrap positions placed quite forward on the board make it easy for all levels of rider to learn funboarding and jibes easily. Their short length means they’re highly manoeuvrable and still have great speed when the wind fills in and they start planning, giving you the excitement of full-on funboarding!

Nova 205 D Learn to windsurf really easily The new Nova 205D is geared towards heavier-weight riders or for schools who want stable, light, big volume boards, and fitted with a retractable daggerboard. This board is also great for progressing on, thanks to its relatively moderate length, its reduced weight and forward footstrap positions. The Nova 205D is fitted with an integral pad for a totally anti-skid surface which also helps protect the rider in case of falls. There’s no better board to learn how to windsurf!

Nova 160 D Learn to windsurf with a taste of funboard action

More for the lighter-weight riders, the Nova 160D was designed for learning and progressing. Stable and easy to ride, fitted with a daggerboard, its short shape makes it simple to carve and jibe, even in light winds. With a good volume all around the board, any wrong foot position won’t be noticed. It is a light board that gets fast up to planing, and thanks to its short length, it will give exciting funboard sensations. Very fast in light to medium winds, this is a board on which you can progress quickly when riding in footstraps and when jibing. BIC Windsurf | Beach

Easy riding boards, super strong and a superb price

Beginner level windsurf boards have made considerable progress as regards their stability, and that for some time now, but are nevertheless frequently a bit fragile for the kind of intensive use they get. The Beach range responds to the needs of windsurf clubs and is the result of an innovative mix of technologies already to be found on BIC surf boards and kayaks. The outer skin of polyethylene is the same as that used on BIC Sport kayaks with their proven strength. The internal construction borrows from the BIC ACS surf board with its massive knock-resistance. The shapes have been developed with maximum stability for beginners in mind but are still very manoeuvrable to help learn some progression moves. Beach boards will therefore be very useful for windsurf schools looking for good, solid, modern and easy to learn on boards. Both models come with a retractable daggerboard system that is very simple to tune.

Beach 225 D Learning and progression The most easily accessible of the Beach series. It will suit heavier weight beginners looking for a highly stable board for learning in good, strong conditions.

Beach 175 D Great compromise of thrills and stability The Beach 175 is a great compromise board for medium weight beginners. BIC Windsurf | Techno Rigs

Powerful acceleration, light in the hands, and a huge wind range! In order to support the growth and development of the Techno 293 OD and Hybrid classes, BIC Windsurf developed the One Design Rig package for use specifically by youth sailors on hybrid boards. This rig package has been designed to be raced in the widest wind range possible, representing the best possible compromise between light wind pumping performance and high wind planing performance. The key features of these rigs include: • A huge wind range: from 6 to 30 knots. By tuning the downhaul and outhaul, the sail can be rigged either very full with a tight leech, or very flat with an open leech. • A draft placement at approx. 40% from the front of the sail (freeride sails = 30% / sub-planing sails = 50%), offering the best compromise between lightwind performance and high wind control. • 6 batten / 2 cam configuration for the best compromise between weight and performance. • A very stable profile for ease of use and control in the high winds. • A tack strap tensioner for maximum tuning range and power in light winds. • X-Ply reinforcements in critical areas, durable luff pocket material and webbing batten tensioners for ease of use and practicality in a club and racing environment. 5.8 - 6.8 - 7.8 - 8.5 m²

Learning has never been so easy!! The Nova rig package is the ideal choice for “leisure” sailing on relatively flat water. It has been designed with pure simplicity and durability in mind, and is ideally suited with our Nova range of boards. It allows you to learn and progress into the sport of windsurfing without worrying about your equipment! The sail has been designed on a fixed mast and boom length, so when you get to the beach all you have to do is thread the mast up the sail, pull the downhaul to the base of the mast, the outhaul to the clew of the boom, and then go sailing! The sail is made from tough Dacron, is well reinforced and super hard wearing, great for intensive use. The mast is made with a durable composite construction, while the boom has a minimum number of moveable parts making it easy to use, light weight, and durable.

Creative designs Innovative products Gliding sensations THD - Tri Hull Design : designed for fun The unique THD shape provides the optimum in speed, comfort and stability for BIC Sport Kayaks. The result of 30 years of BIC Sport watercraft design and innovation, the THD shape has been developed to provide improved gliding and stability while maintaining maneuverability. Inspired from current tri-maran designs, the THD shape features a central section (1) for increased gliding, two outside hull sections (2) to stabilize the kayak and two intermediate concaves (3) to create lift and an optimal mix of water and air for heightened performance. These designs have also been picked up on by the Observeur du Design, which has awarded BIC Sport numerous prestigious "Etoiles du Design". These Etoiles were in recognition not only of the kayak design, but also of BIC Sport's TST construction technology that is environmentally friendly.

YAKKAir and Nomad: tomorrow's inflatables The choice of materials and the design of the YAKKAir and the Nomad have been the subject of an enormous amount of research, resulting in kayaks that are light weight, good looking and delivers great performance. The dynamic, double-concave hull gives the kind of handling you’d normally expect from a rigid. A revolution in inflatable kayak design. An award has actually been granted to this concept end of 2009 with our YAKKAir HP 1 having been rewarded with an Etoile du Design.

The seat ergonomics of the whole BIC Sport kayak range have been particularly developed for optimum paddling comfort. • The seat is roomy and comfortable, and is also inclined and padded to keep the paddler in place, and relieve leg pressure while using the foot braces. • The centre of gravity is positioned low for better stability, but above the flotation line so that the bottom of the seat stays dry. O’pen BIC | Modern and planing hull The hull of the O’pen BIC was designed with fun sailing as the priority. It is a modern boat where the hull is as open as possible, thereby leaving the helmsman completely free to move around and trim the boat to any wind and water conditions. When hiking, the large sides allow the sailor to set-up comfortably with his/her feet in the straps without placing any unnecessary stress on the body. The totally open and sloping cockpit means that there is absolutely no water in the boat either during sailing or just after a capsize. A relatively hard chine design was chosen for the bottom shape of the hull. Used by numerous modern boat architects, this design offers an excellent compromise between performance and stability. When reaching or broad-reaching, the boat accelerates quickly to planing speed. When close-reaching, the boat sets on its chine and has excellent performance up wind. The hull includes integrated carry handles for easy launching into the water and easy transport.

O’pen BIC | High quality rigs and accessories

Rigs The rig includes a fully-battened, 4.5m² mono-film sail with mast pocket, similar to that of a windsurf sail. Rigged on an epoxy mast, the sail has been designed with an open leech to give sailors maximum control and performance in windy conditions. The Cunningham tackle (6 threads + cleat) associated with the boom vang / boom safety attachment, allows sailors to trim efficiently the tension of the sail. The 3.8 m² dacron sail has been designed for clubs and lightweight sailors, and can be rigged on the same mast and boom as the 4.5 m² rig. O’pen BIC | International Class The aim of the International O’pen BIC Class is to provide an exciting format of international and national dinghy sailing for young sailors. The steady annual growth of the Events’ Calendar is proof that the Class’s formula of providing exciting race formats on an attractive boat is a great success. At present there are over 10 countries that have regular event calendars of national competitions, and the international World O’pen Cup is the pinnacle each year. The O’pen Cup event style is very original, with some highly innovative courses and race rules derived from funboarding, where races are short and quick, the course changes regularly and can include crosswind legs and freestyle moves or an adventure race, and protests are judged immediately out on the water so no racing time or effort is wasted! These improvements are in line with ISAF’s Introductory Rules of Sailing, and are quite a break from the last 40 years of «classic» sailing. O’pen Cups are a cocktail of fun and pure regatta racing, great for motivating our young sailors and keeping them hooked for life! Exceptional stability Their catamaran hull gives them much more stability than all flat or V hulls. This is a major advantage for hunting, fishing or the transport of equipment to an anchored boat. The Sportyak 245 can comfortably accommodate three people who can, if necessary, change sides without any risk of capsizing.

Comparison Sportyak 245 versus V-hull As soon as the weight is off-centre a V-Hull becomes unstable and dangerous, unlike the double catamaran shape hull of the Sportyak 245, which provides high stability and therefore prevents capsizing. Test done with two adults on the same side.

Polyethylene

The toughness of polyethylene The Sportyak 213 and the Sportyak 245 are made of polyethylene which makes them virtually indestructible. You donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t have to worry about leaving them in dinghy racks or on the beach. UV rays, salt and every day impacts have no effect on them. When no longer in use, these boats are entirely recyclable.

Light weight The Sportyak 213 and the Sportyak 245 are light which is an essential characteristic for a boat that is most of the time carried by hand and loaded onto roof racks. It is thanks to their double hull structure that even though they are very light, there has been no compromise on safety aspects.

Easily carried The Sportyak 213 and the Sportyak 245 are particularly easy to carry. Several carry-handles have been positioned around the Sportyak 245 to facilitate its beach-launching and handling. The Sportyak 213 can be fitted with a roller kit. The Sportyak 245 is fitted with wide rollers integrated into the design of the hull which do not affect in any way the boatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s performance on water, whether it is being rowed or powered by an outboard engine.

BIC Boats | Sportyak 245 Priority to stability and safety Priority to stability and safety : a large proportion of serious accidents in leisure boating happen on small boats serving larger craft. Safety has all too often been overlooked on this type of boat, but safety was the top priority for the 245’s designers. Four factors guided the design team in their work : keeping the weight evenly balanced when in use, being unsinkable, stability and getting back on board in case of falling off. The team tested every conceivable “accident” scenario and the Sportyak 245 is the result of all that work.The relatively low cockpit rim and numerous carry handles etc. make climbing back in after falling/jumping out simple and safe. When empty, the cockpit float line is below the level of the floor, allowing the cockpit to auto-empty. One, two or three people can fit comfortably in a 245. The double rowing position allows you to choose your seating configuration. That means you can adjust to any size oarsman for efficient rowing without compromising balance.

Catamaran shape and integrated wheels The catamaran hull gives the best possible stability. It means you can load up on one side of the boat without fear of capsizing. This shape with flat lateral sections gives also an exceptional glide, with an efficient anti-drift. The wheels are integrated into the design of the hull.

Integrated handles are user friendly The various carry handles make the boat easy to carry for one or more people. It weighs in at just 39 kg, making it easy to load onto a roof rack.

All-terrain wheels make transport easy The Sportyak 245 is fitted with two wide rollers for easy handling over beaches, banks and jetties. The wheels are integrated into the design of the hull and don’t in any way affect its performance in water. You can load all your equipment in the boat and take it easily down to the water’s edge !
