The running race “Warm Tet for the poor – Sending love to people in the central region” donates VND13.5 billion (USD580,000) to support disadvantaged people across the country.
After 22 days kicked off, the race attracted the participation of over 59,000 athletes running a distance of 3.5 million kilometers which is equivalent to VND13.5 billion. This is the second year BIDV has organized this charitable running race, a public event opened for everyone. The purpose of this event is to mobilize the bank’s officers, customers, and the community to join hands to make donations for the poor on the occasion of Vietnamese New Year (Tet). Particularly, all athletes' performance will be recognized and
contributed by BIDV from VND1,000 to VND3000 per km. The money will be used to buy Tet gifts for the poor and the people in the flood-hit central
region. The race was held online via BIDVRun app using Strava platform. BIDVRun is an application developed by BIDV with the aim of connecting people with the passion for running, sharing the difficulties with the disadvantaged communities.
BIDV expressed its expectation that the program will continue to promote the tradition of implementing social security "for the poor" across the BIDV system and spread the good things and human values in life.
As a major financial institution, in addition to key tasks of implementing monetary policies and business efficiently and securely, BIDV always carries out the responsibilities to the society and community and considers them one of its important tasks. The bank organised social security activities in regions across the country with a total annual budget of nearly VND300 billion (USD13 million).
