Hi guys and gals, welcome to our 16th Annual Bull Sale. All I’m going to say about 2020 is goodbye and good riddance. After breeding and raising Simmentals for 32 years all I can say is how proud I am of our chosen breed. Simmentals are a breed with so much diversity, with actual dual purpose bloodlines, ie: milking (dairy) and meat. They are great for cross breeding with other breeds and help improve weaning weights, calving ease and the valuable simmental cross replacement heifers. Our good friend Kevin Marcinek sold high quality commercial Simmental cross bred heifers this past fall for a staggering $3600 dollar average, with his high sellers trading for $3800/head.
Longevity is a quality we try and breed for. It doesn’t always work and not every bull we sell will turn out. But most do. We were informed this fall one of our customers still has a bull he purchased from us 13-14 years ago. (Okay Jean it’s time to trade up on the old boy!) The ration we feed the bulls doesn’t change much. Lee added chopped second cut hay to the ration and they are doing very well on it.
Bulls are on a full herd health program and we work closely with the Bluffton Veterinary Clinic to ensure the physical soundness of our whole herd.
As always bulls are sold with a passed semen test. Any bulls sold with a deferral test will not be paid for until he has a passed test.
Returning this year are Jenna Olson, owner of Silvertop Simmentals. This year her offering of 5 bulls is the best she’s offered yet. You can really see the improvements Jenna is making in her cow herd. Also back is Levi Marcinek, owner of Cow Boss Simmentals. Levi also has been making improvements and it really shows this year in the 5 bulls he has on offer. We encourage you to come by and look at the bulls if you are needing a bull and are interested. TERMS AND CONDITIONS TERMS: The terms of sale are cash or cheque. All cattle must be settled for at the conclusion of the auction. Cattle will not be released from the sale premises until payment is received in full, unless other arrangements have been made proir to the sale with the individual contributer. Every animal sells to the highest bidder, in the case of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final, and becomes the risk of the purchaser. We reserve the right to withhold animals from shipment for whom payments have not been received prior to departure times. BUYERS REGISTRATION: Buyers please register for a buyer number at the office prior to purchasing.
BREEDING GUARANTEE: All bulls are guaranteed to be fertile & reproductively sound in accordance with the rules & regulations recommended by the breed associations. All bulls will be semen tested.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Errors in this catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the block at sale time & such announcments will take precedent over any printed material. Any disputes will be settled by the auctioneer. ACCIDENTS: Although every precation will be taken, All Persons who attend the Sale do so at their own risk. In the spring of 2018 we were on the hunt for a heifer bull. Lee put on miles looking at bulls and finally found IPU Dillinger 14E. A very small 78 lb birthweight, smooth long build made him the number one choice. We were not disappointed as his calves came easily at birth, but had good growth the rest of the way. A couple of his sons will make heifer bulls and will be indicated in their footnotes. IPU 14E A.K.A. as “Bigfoot Barry”, has polled all his calves and puts large testicles on his sons.

Silvertop Painted Sugar was a crowd favourite on pasture tours this summer for good reason. 8H is built low to the ground and exhibits a ton of natural thickness throughout his middle third, that does not come from a chop pail. 8H is a grandson of two very influential cows in the Simmental breed. Mader P Iron Sugar 7X has produced many fantastic, high selling females within the industry, and most notably being the dam of the great Mader Walk This Way bull. RF Scream 215Z, may be one of the most productive cows in the breed, being the dam of the popular Captain Scream bull. 8H’s dam is an awesome producing cow that I bought as a bred heifer from the reputable Mader Ranch program. His sire, War Paint is a phenotypically impressive bull that is really starting to make his mark by siring eye appealing, deep ribbed calves that shine at weaning time. Willy is an eye-catching bull. He has great testicle development, and is structurally sound with a strong foot that carries an incredibly long, deep bodied frame that is low to the ground. One of the most impressive things about Willy would be his pedigree. 680S has been one of the most influential bulls in the Simmental breed when it comes to adding milk, meat and muscle. He is now deceased, therefore his semen is tough to find and demands upwards of $300-400 per straw, so being that 23H is a direct son is very rare! Willys dam ‘Willow’ is a cow that is always the first one to be admired on pastures tours, because of her sheer mass and overall eye appeal. ‘The Dink’ or LHVS Mr Lockhart 64A is the one of a kind heifer bull every breeder strives to find. In the few years I have owned the Dink, we have never had to help a heifer during calving. The Dink is now 8 years old, however you would never be able to tell as he is still in fantastic shape, scoring near perfect on his semen test this past spring. He walks freely on a set of perfect, solid black feet that have never been touched. His daughters have proven themselves to be awesome milking, front pasture type females. Sadly due to his age and the accumulation of his daughters in my herd, he will be retiring this spring. Jump on the opportunity to own a son of his while you still can, you won’t regret it!

Silvertop Hank is a stylish baldy bull that demands your attention when you walk in the pen. This bull displays great length, advanced testicle development, broad hip shape and overall capacity through his middle third. Hank possesses some great performance, weaning off at 940lbs and exciting EPDs with milk being at a 32. When this bull is on the move he has a smooth and effortless stride on a solid black foot that can really be appreciated. Hanks dam, WJS Curtain Call 575C was a highlight coming from WJ Simmentals at the 2016 Camrose Country Classic sale, demanding $11,000 making her the high selling black female that year. Curtain is an unreal producing tank of a cow, however she still maintains her femininity. Luckily for me she has raised only heifers before Hank, and each one has been retained in my herd and have turned into awesome milking, perfect uddered females. Silvertop Hollister 2H is a commercial cattlemans dream, a powerful yet eye catching bull that is destined to sire attractive steers and heifers that will push down the scale come weaning time. Unfortunately this bull is not very photogenic, however he will knock your socks off when you see him in person. This calf may only be half registered, but do not let that scare you away. Here is a dude who I’ll be honest, didn’t come with the ideal paint job. But he did come with the build I had hoped and expected. His sire and dam are low to the ground made individuals and he is a chip off the ol blocks. He is cherry red and a tank. He would be sure to put a money stripe on a herd of solid coloured cows. Hardy is a performance bull. He was born easy and unassisted despite the larger birthweight. His mother has been a good cow for me. I have a full sister to Hardy and she is a beautiful heifer. Eagle-Ridge Chiquita has very small teats, a tight little bag and yet can wean a 890 pound calf by early September. A maternal brother was purchased by David Korth of Rocky Mountain House. Hunter is a bull I was very excited for since the moment he was born. He is solid coloured, wide topped, nicely muscled and has a good foot. His dam is a flawless young cow who I just love. She is feminine, big barrelled, tight uddered and has small teats. Her first calf was purchased in last years sale by Dwayne and Kyra Patterson of Crooked Creek AB.
