On behalf of Lockhart Valley Simmentals, Silvertop Simmentals and Cow Boss Simmentals we’d all like to welcome you to our 17th annual sale. With 2021 finally behind us, I think we all hope that 2022 is a better year for all of us.

guide you in your quest for a new herd bull. We take the business of raising seed stock very serious and realize that the business of finding the right bull for your program is very important. For you the buyer, we want the process to be seamless and as enjoyable as possible.

This past year the Ag industry has had its share of ups and downs. For example, commodity prices exploded with supply pressure from the drought in Western Canada. Cattle price held steady until drought forced cattlemen to reduce or liquidate their herds. High feed prices also put pressure on the cattle market. The future still looks bright for the cattle and grain markets. Our sale will carry on same as usual, with a live cattle sale and internet bidding at the farm. Covid protocols will be in place as well. We want everyone to feel safe and healthy at our facility.

All contributors’ bulls are weaned within a one-to-twoweek period of one another. All bulls are fed at Lockhart Valley’s farm with the same ration and hence all treated equally. The boys are fed a ration of cereal silage, cut hay, Wetaskiwin bull pellets and rolled oats. They are housed in large pens and are bedded every day during cold weather and every other day during warm weather.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS TERMS: The terms of sale are cash or cheque. All cattle must be settled for at the conclusion of the auction. Cattle will not be released from the sale premises until payment is received in full, unless other arrangements have been made proir to the sale with the individual contributer. Every animal sells to the highest bidder, in the case of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final, and becomes the risk of the purchaser. We reserve the right to withhold animals from shipment for whom payments have not been received prior to departure times. BUYERS REGISTRATION: Buyers please register for a buyer number at the office prior to purchasing.

BREEDING GUARANTEE: All bulls are guaranteed to be fertile & reproductively sound in accordance with the rules & regulations recommended by the breed associations. All bulls will be semen tested.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Errors in this catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the block at sale time & such announcments will take precedent over any printed material. Any disputes will be settled by the auctioneer. ACCIDENTS: Although every precation will be taken, All Persons who attend the Sale do so at their own risk. SBV Mark 711F is our newest herd sire purchased in the spring of 2020 in partnership with Spruce View Acres (Steve and Tracy Kushnerik). As we walked the bull pen with “Seven”, we quickly realized he was the bull we were looking for to pair with our Charles daughters. We also came to the conclusion that we were going to need a partner. When “Seven” strolled into the sales ring, we were all impressed with his calm demeanor and his physical presence. 711F is a moderate framed bull with a small nicely shaped skull, which is set nicely into a powerful masculine neck. His straight spine flows smoothly into his huge rump. “Seven” travels lightly on his feet, which are large and nicely shaped. His calves come easily and grow fast. Another fantastic trait that we really like is the fact that he makes equally good females. They are deep bodied and thick, yet still maintain their femininity. Most are cherry red and double goggled. We are beyond thrilled to be offering these nine sons of his for your appraisal. We sincerely hope you find them to your liking as we are very proud of them. P.S. I wanted to sell 2-4 of our top heifers in our sale...I got shot down.

I was fortunate enough to take home his dam, WLB 323B Rita 449E from the barn burning WLB Dispersal in the fall of 2020. 449E sold alongside her heifer calf whom was purchased by Labatte Simmentals. Her yearling daughter, who is a full sibling to Jackpot also went through the sale and was purchased by Sunny Valley Simmentals. Rita is a cow that I can not say enough good things about. She is an eye catching, long bodied, deep ribbed cow that stands on an impeccable set of feet with a picture perfect udder. Silvertop Jimmy 63J is a bull that you can’t help but love. He was the pasture pest all summer, always demanding all the scratches and attention he could get. Jimmy is named after a special friend of ours, Jim Graham of Western Blend Angus. Jim was kind enough to let me use a calving ease bull of his to clean up a few heifers of mine. Silvertop Jimmy was a result of that, and was an exciting calf to watch grow and develop. His dam was a moderate, first calf heifer who did an incredible job on raising her first calf, as he started out at a tender 78 lb birthweight and weaned at 785lbs. Jimmy is a smooth made, structurally correct bull that carries a nice small head. The sought after Sim/Angus cross is a never miss, combining the best of both worlds. 63J has the white face to add chrome to his calves resulting in highly marketable steers, and replacement heifers. I think the pen of bulls I have on offer this year is my strongest offering to date. I have one paternal brother to the bulls I sold last year and then a new sire group, who I am very proud of. The Eldor sons are all well put together bulls who have performed very well. Unfortunately there will not be a large number of them in the future as that sire got injured and did himself in, early on in his career. Like previous years the bulls have been fed alongside Lockhart Valleys. All five of my bulls are sire verified and tested NON-Diluter, meaning they will not give you gray calves from black cows. Where to start with Justified? Definitely the best bull I have raised! His dam has had 3/3 sale bulls for her first 3 calves. And not just 3 sale bulls but top of the pen bulls each year. The sire, Eldor, was lost way too soon. He will only live on through a limited semen bank now. The Eldor calves are all consistently good, being soggy, solid coloured and hairy. Justified being no exception. You have to admire the overall thickness and width from behind on this bull. Check out his video once it is available later in February. His actual WW was 954 pounds September 15, with no creep, and he has a nice moderate BW. He is a bull that is hard to fault and I am pleased to offer! Non Diluter
