Claire Lang, Motor Neurone Disease Clinical Nurse Specialist and MND Care Centre Coordinator, has worked at the Trust for 24 years.

What do you do to wind down and relax after a hard week at work?

I am a mum of two boys aged 9 and 12. I love spending time with them. I enjoy listening to music. I love all kinds of music but my guilty passion is 80s rock. I especially love gardening and being outside amongst plants, trees and nature. I find it relaxing and therapeutic. I also love the seaside, especially Whitby.

What is your favourite food?

Pasta. I love it! I would happily eat it every day. It’s quick and easy and I love anything you can eat with just a fork!

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

Probably a singer in a rock band! And I still do! I never knew what career path to take. I came into nursing in my 20s after working for a few years and deciding what I would like to do.

What is your favourite film?

This is a difficult choice but right now I would have to say Terminator 2. I saw it at the cinema for my 13th birthday. Great film with a fab soundtrack. You can’t go wrong with Guns N’ Roses!

Who would you most like to meet and why?

I would love to meet the Queen. I think she has been a role model for many generations. I very much admire her work ethic and her professionalism. She has seen more of this world and it’s people than most. I would love to hear her stories.

What is your favourite book?

I read lots during my A level English Literature course. I feel I should pick something literary but I’m going to chose the Harry Potter books. I just love them and the constant theme of friendship. I’ve enjoyed introducing them to my boys.

Tell us something we don’t know about you …

I love my car! I have a Fiat 500 called Florence. Florence is often my sanctuary - with a busy job and busy and chaotic home life with two boys I dont often have time to myself to think. I do most of my thinking in the car! Or, I pop some tunes on and have a crazy sing-song to myself with no boys telling me turn off my naff music!
