Big Science in Sweden Business, high-tech development and innovation
Developing Big Science
Big Science Sweden supports large-scale research facilities around the world by finding Swedish high-tech suppliers.
In Sweden, we are proud to host ESS and MAX IV, the two brightest research facilities in the world. As host country for ESS and MAX IV, it is important that we have Swedish companies with the expertise and skills to deliver technology to research facilities, both in Sweden and globally. Big Science Sweden is Sweden’s official ILO organisation, and is an arena for both SMEs and large companies that want to develop skills and conduct business in the Big Science market. Our vision is that Sweden will become a leading international driver of Big Science technology.
MAX IV and ESS are facilities currently under construction, but advanced research is already taking place in areas such as materials, pharmaceuticals, nanotechnology and, not least, energy. The facilities will enable scientists and industry to develop new materials, products and processes that we cannot even imagine today – medications with better and more precise functions, tomorrow’s battery solutions, nanoparticles for exciting new applications, catalysis, computing, and lighter and stronger packaging materials. Large-scale research facilities are available for industrial use, providing unique tools that enable industry to develop new products and services.
Applying Big Science
Big Science is an arena where industry, academia and largescale research facilities join forces to tackle the global challenges.
