WELCOME TO KROSS 2012 collection is another crucial year in Kross history. We are proud to present the new group of bikes designed especially for the needs of our professional riders, clients and for ourselves. We have always been focused on our products’ development and their design. We managed to combine both in the collection of 2012. Particular models are refined in every detail and everyone will find something for themselves. We offer professional machines to win mountain marathons, dirt toys for big boys and unique city bikes thanks to which you will stand out as well as traditional utility bikes. 2012 season is also a year of big premiers in Kross collection. We developed our first own suspension system with a virtual pivot point on which our designers had worked for a long time. However, we managed to achieve very sensitive suspension which does not waste riders’ energy. Please feel invited to get familiar with our proposals for 2012 year. R& D DEPARTMENT All of the Kross models in 2012 collection were made under the strict supervision of our R&D department. Searching for new technologies, solutions and projects is one of the tasks of our engineers and design experts. This is where projects of our frames and initial prototypes are made and finally first test data is sent here. All of this to make Kross bikes better. Additionally, R & D department ensures the selection of appropriate equipment for each group of bikes as well as the appearance of our products. Together we prepared a few surprises for the 2012 season: - refreshed appearance of MTB and Cross models – a combination of bold and consistent graphics line gives those groups sporty character, which can not be ignored by high-end bikes 29er is back! R&D department designed two brand new bikes in more and more popular size around the world – 29 inches Series of MTB Dirt Jump bikes – for the first time cooperation of R&D department with riders was so close. Those bikes were designed strictly according to the guidelines of the best Polish MTB Dirt Jump riders. And finally, the jewel in the crown for the 2012 season: Creation of REVO full suspension system and developing for it an appropriate frame and the whole bike 4

Sit upright - a set of elements, such as the geometrics of the frame and regulated cantilevers, which allow a comfortable and upright cycling position.

Revo Virtual Suspension - thanks to the meticulously chosen inclining lengths and angles of the links it works independently from the drive system (derailleur), as well as possessing optimal anti-compression. As a result, the suspension does not sink when we are peddling and at the same time reacts to even the smallest roughness in terrain.

Comfort Sit - an amortized cantilever in conjunction with an anatomically profiled seat guarantees an incomparably high comfort when cycling.

Carbon SL - our top model for mountain biking made from Carbon SL. Its unique characteristic is the arranment of carbon fibers in a strictly defined manner so that the whole construction is exceptionally rigid atthe sides while at the same time being absorbent to vibrations. Such a solution allows a maximum shift of thdriving force to the rear wheel, while at the same time retaining the necessary suppressing properties.

Hi-Strength Carry Rack - a rear carry rack with a durable construction allows the safe carriage of baggage even when it is very heavy. Power Drive - Electric bicycle, also known as an e-bike - a bicycle with an electric motor used to power the vehicle.

Carbon - frames made using his technology are monolithic carbon fiber constructions placed alongside each other. A classical forming of the tubes, in conjunction with their large diameters, means that they are very light and highly durable.

Press Fit Bottom Bracket - The bearings which are stowed inside increase peddling efficiency, decrease wear on the bearing and create a better transfer of the driving force onto the wheel.

Aluminum Super Lite - thanks to heat treatment this frame is characterized by being very stiff and resistant to stress while at the same time being extremely light. In order to be more effective it is additionally triple butted in areas that are placed under least stress, and reinforced at critical points. Aluminum Lite - this is a slightly better version of the aluminum 6061 alloy and constitutes a great compromise between greater stiffness and low mass. It is very resistant to internal conditions, breakages and impact. Thanks to the butting of all the frame tubes, we were able to retain toughness of the construction while at the same time reducing mass. Aluminum performance - the Aluminum Performance 6061 alloy means that the frame is highly stiff and resistant to breakages while retaining the light mass typical for aluminum. Disc brakes - guarantee a large brake force and good modulation even in the most severe weather conditions, they also last for much longer than traditional brakes. T-head tube - a conical frame-head with a changeable diameter from 1 1/8” at the top to 1.5” at the bottom. A larger diameter at the bottom gives increased durability as well as stiffness that gives greater precision when steering. Mech shaping - the mechanical forming of tube profiles. Precise shaping increases stress resistance.

Silicon cables - cables externally coated with silicon gel guaranteeing efficient gear changes in every conditions.

Direct mount - technology which means that additional elements required to assemble the brake become obsolete. This has a positive influence on the force, precision of braking and mass. An additional benefit that comes directly from the assembly is a better conduction of heat, thanks to which effectiveness does not decline during long braking. RHS System - we created a system of exchangeable dropouts in order to protect our frames as much as possible. In case of damage they can be easily and quickly exchanged. Screws or a special nut are used for the dropout in order to minimize frame damage. Smooth welding - a precision based technique to even out the welding which raises the aesthetic qualities of the structure without having a negative effect on durability. Hydro-F Tube - a method used to shape tubes by pressurized liquid injection. The technology primarily creates a lighter structure characterized by higher durability and precise finishing. Multilayer painting - results in higher surface resistance to mechanical damage as well as certain atmospheric conditions. Thanks to this process we can enjoy the aesthetic appearance of the bicycle for many years. Powder coating - painting based on placing electrified powder paint molecules onto aluminum, which requires heat treatment. After parching the varnish surface creates a perfectly smooth coat, which is every resistant to mechanical damage. Full mudguards - long mudguards that guarantee complete protection against water and mud.

The choice of components and sport oriented design give us a feeling of owning a bike that is a class higher. Active series - designed for mountain biking enthusiasts. User opinions collected over the years have allowed us to refine the frame geometry to suit recreational use. The elongated length of the rear wheel axis from the bottom bracket, a lower bottom bracket center, minimally elongated frame head, as well as shortened top tube have significantly influenced bike steering, which is definitely more stable this year. The position of the rider is also much more comfortable. The choice of components and sport oriented design give us a feeling of owning a bike that is a class higher. City series - bicycles created for comfortable movement around town. The construction of the frame makes getting on an off very comfortable and the appropriate geometry and regulated components guarantee an upright position. A brave, but well thought out, design gives us a feeling of originality and meticulously chosen components guarantee reliability. Comfort series - bicycles designed for the most comfortable movement on hard roads. A specially shaped frame makes getting on and off easier and the geometry and strictly selected components create a whole which perfectly fulfills its task on a Sunday cycle ride as well as for cycling all day around town. Cross series - bicycles that possess both sport and trekking characteristics. Geared toward fast and comfortable cycling on grit and asphalt roads. Thanks to the wheel diameter (28’’) and the removal of superfluous tools, cycling for many miles on this bike is easy and much more comfortable than on a traditional mountain bike. Trekking series - trekking bicycles ideal for short trips around town as well as longer expeditions into the unknown. The geometry means that even longer trips are not painful, and the solid and tested components guarantee infallibility on the road. EARTH is a new group of full suspended bicycles from the KROSS Bikes 2012 collection. Their main feature is full shock-absorption (100mm) of the rear wheel. EARTH is an ideal machine for marathons and multi-stage races where good traction, comfort, and safety after many hours of cycling, are of key importance. KROSS engineers worked for a year and a half on their own suspension solution with a virtual pivoting point that reacts to even the smallest unevenness in terrain. RVS TECHNOLOGY Thanks to the meticulously chosen inclining lengths and angles of the links it works independently from the drive system (derailleur), as well as possessing optimal anti-compression. As a result, the suspension does not sink when we are peddling and at the same time reacts to even the smallest roughness in terrain. This effect is also gained thanks to a specially designed characteristic; in the starting phase of the deflection the forces acting on the damper are so large as to level out the resistance that is created by the gasket and hydraulic suppression. 2

The chart below presents the characteristics of the force transfer from the axis of the rear wheel onto the forces which cause the damper to compress.

A new suspension by Kross.

1 SUSPENSION The newest Kross bikes are equipped with a unique suspension system with a virtual pivot point which was designed by Kross R&D department. The suspension allows efficient transfer of power into the rear wheel without loss of energy caused by negative work of suspension. 2 FORK Kross uses only proven forks of the best producers – Rock Shox, Magura, SunTour. These forks provide a high quality shock-absorption in all conditions as well as smooth and trouble-free work. 3 BRAKES Kross bikes are equipped with disc brakes which provide high efficiency, modulation and control over the bike in all conditions. Proven Shimano brand guarantees reliability and high work quality. 4 REAR DERAILLEUR High quality Shimano derailleurs guarantee reliability, precision and low weight. Often they have a crucial effect on the entire drive operation.

MAXIMUM EFFECTIVNESS WHEN PEDDLING Anti compression is a movement of the lower link as the suspension bends, which lengthens the distance between the center of the bottom bracket and the wheel axis. This results in a stretching of the chain thus blocking further deflection of the bottom bracket. SUSPENSION ISOLATED FROM THE DRIVING FORCE The cam system separates the suspension from the drive system (derailleur) which makes reduction of the “sway” effect easier. Riding on rough ground is smoother. This can be attributed to the declining anti-compression together with increasing deflection of the suspension. MINIMALIZED PEDAL KICK Thanks to the correct suspension angle, with a maximum deflection, the deviation of the crankset is not much above 11.5 degrees. It is worth adding that most of the time the suspension works in the scope of a 60% jump, thus the pedal kickback does not exceed 9 degrees which is a value that is practically unnoticeable. DOES NOT STIFFEN WHEN BRAKING We have attained an 8 degree deviation in the clamping of the brake when there is a maximum suspension deflection. Thanks to this the suspension does not stiffen during braking.

This bicycle group belongs to the Race Pro Series category, which contains models equipped with advanced technology and the best components created to make riding on the most difficult terrain in the worst conditions easier. The top model, the Level A+, has been constructed over the years with the help of in the Kross Racing Team. Thanks to this, its geometry, design and the mass- durability ratio exceeded expectations every year. We use specially arranged carbon fibers to build frames. The fibers run in a strictly defined direction, depending on the forces acting on a given part at a given time. This is done in order to decrease mass while at the same time retaining durability and side stiffness. Optimally arranged fibers stifle vibrations of the highest frequency generated by the route on which we are cycling, as well as allowing the maximum transfer of force used to power the bicycle.

A 29 inch wheel primarily gives a smoother ride with a mass that is not much bigger giving us a lot more possibilities.

A visibly better traction than with a larger tire-to-surface contact, and a smaller approach angle for various types of obstacles, makes covering hard terrain easier, as well as allowing a lot more amortization than in the case of 26 inch wheels.

Easier cycling over rough ground and increased stability when steering will suit the tastes of those who like to cycle on hard mountainous terrain. We will also feel their superiority to classical tires on flat terrain thanks to the increased gyroscope effect, which makes maintaining a high speed easier. A larger wheel diameter also makes it easier to ride across holes in the road. Cycling is much more fluid than with 26 inch wheels. This allows to effectively ride down steep terrain (less resistance to wheel spin) as well as to cycle uphill on which the tire contact zone is very important.

MTB FEATURES The geometry in the 2012 Hexagon bicycles has been adapted to a recreational cycling style, giving us a feeling of stability when steering and a comfortable position. The frame is made out of Performance Alu, which allowed the creation of a light and stiff structure that is resistant to stress and the passing of time. Multi-layered painting, and an exchangeable derailleur hanger, guarantee long-term use without a significant influence on the technical state.

THE RIM With the highest quality in mind, we used a double walled Kross rim in all Hexagon models. Thanks to this, the wheels are characterized with a large degree of stiffness which guarantees unproblematic cycling across many thousands of miles.

DIRT TECHNOLOGY 1

The creation of the “Spade” and “Rebel” heralded a breakthrough moment in the company’s history. Never before had cooperation between competitors and technologists been such a priority. It has never been the case that the practical experience of competitors and scientific knowledge of technologists were pitched against each other during the geometry, tube profile, design and testing faze. Never before have such frames been created… The “Rebel” is the most advanced model of the whole series. The steel frame is made from high quality multibutted Cr-Mo 4130 steel. The highest level of technological advancement can be seen on the bottom tube of the front triangle as well as the rear fork. The former underwent the hydro-forming process so that the surface of the contact point between the steering headset is as large as possible, which significantly affects the durability of the whole structure. The rear fork was also shaped in accord with strict instructions from cyclists. Its length allows the bicycle to be rotated easily and brought to manual, without making it too jerky.

1 FRAME New frames for 2012 season have been designed in cooperation with the best Dirt riders. They have a unique geometry, integrated headset and horizontal dropouts. These frames are developed by riders for riders. 2 FORK Kross uses only proven forks of the best producers – Marzocchi, Magura, SunTour. These forks provide a high quality shock-absorption in all conditions as well as smooth and trouble-free work 3 DROPOUTS Special Dropouts with Kross logo cut in CNC technology adds a flavor to the whole construction. 4 CRANKSET Three-piece BMX crank made of Cr-Mo steel is strong enough to endow them with full trust. They will withstand the highest flights!

The “Spade” is the aluminum proposal for an ultra light frame for dirt biking. The Spade and Spade Pro were made from butted Alu 6061 using the hydro forming process, thanks to which it was possible to get a weight of around 2kg while retaining durability. The other advantage of forming tubes under pressurized oil are the unlimited design possibilities. When correctly used, this technology allowed us to resign from the use of the gusset under the bottom tube of the frame, thereby spreading out the stress onto a much greater surface than in the standard solution. The stays of the rear triangle have an oval shape and the whole frame is given a flavor by the Kross logos which are etched into the frame dropouts.

Since last weekend,19th of june will be the date of first ever KROSS Dirt Sessions event. On the lovely sunday morning small, but proud city of Przasnysz in center of Poland hosted the best riders from polish MTB dirt bike scene. Bartek Obukowicz, Adam Glosowic, Marcin Rot, Filip Soczyński, Piotr Krajewski to name just a few. The new KROSS Bike Park was freshly prepared and 5 m high speed ramp and two 5-6m kickers in the line waited for some tricks, and… the rain came. You can't predict the weather. The event was "washed away" with rain about three or five times. Between the showers we managed to do a little and funny Pumptrack jam - it was a good warm up for everybody, then the rain came, then FMX G-Shock heroes did their show, then the rain came (again), and so on. Lucky for the riders the Park was equipped with few square meters of plastic foil and they made it to cover landings and transition. With first moments of the sun at the sky setup was almost ready to ride and Bartek "the Pope" Obukowicz hit first kicker with backflip. Second rider, Sebastian Chamski raised the bar with backflip to 720 in the line. Then the rain came. Again. After next 30mins of waiting for the sky to clear the jam again was on, but due to the dark clouds on the horizon judges decided to cut the qualification round and make the jam straight to the finals. An hour later they knew everything they wanted to know and who deserve which place. After the event, when sun was shining for good and there was no sign of any rain clouds, the winners took their places on the podium, get their prizes and cash and everybody were happy that they made it and had some good riding.
