Why it's important to volunteer for C.I.C.L.E. C.I.C.L.E. is a community-based and mostly volunteer run organization. We educate people about the importance of bicycling for transportation, and our programs empower people to start bicycling, sometimes for the very first time. Our programs greatly depend upon the dedicated efforts of concerned community members like you. By joining a growing community of C.I.C.L.E. volunteers, you'll help make our mission and vision a reality for Los Angeles and its neighboring communities.
What we need right now... C.I.C.L.E.'s Urban Expeditions ride series continues to grow with each successive ride. We urgently need experienced riders so that we can build our Urban Expeditions Ride Team to meet with the demands of larger rides. Rider leaders should be able to... Ride comfortably / capably in traffic Ride in a pack of other riders easily Have patience with slower riders Use hand signals while handling their bicycles Call out directions and hazards to other riders Follow pre-assigned routes Use a walkie talkie while riding their bicycle Cork traffic at intersections Move from the rear to the front of the peloton quickly Attend Urban Expeditions rides at least once every 2 months
What are Urban Expeditions about? Urban Expeditions rides are helping to grow bicycling. They give all cyclists--from firsttime riders, to racers, to commuters, to recreational riders--an opportunity to come together and explore their cities in a healthy, social, and sustainable way.

Urban Expeditions provide a relaxed and enjoyable riding environment for beginning and experienced riders alike. Rides are slow-paced, 8-10 miles in length, fully supported, and follow all basic traffic laws. Rides introduce beginning riders to urban traffic situations in a buffered environment, and many of our new riders can directly benefit from the knowledge and support from an experienced rider like you.
