August Birthday Fiesta Friday, August 24th It’s time to fiesta! Lunch will be a Mexican cuisine and entertainment will be provided by the Mariachis del Corizon.

Fall Prevention Day Friday, September 7th
Every 11 seconds an older-adult is seen in an emergency department for a fall related injury. Many falls are preventable! Join us for National Fall Prevention Day. Participants will complete a balance assessment, learn tai chi, and have their hearing checked. Lunch will be provided while listening to a speaker on assessing your home for fall hazards. 10:30am - 1pm. Cost $10 *Must pre-register at the Center*

Musical entertainment by the Sargent Brothers. Stop by for birthday fun and kick off fall with all of us at the Billings Community and Senior Center. Reservations are required. Reservations must be made 24-hours in advance (9/27/18).

“Take a walk on the wild side!” Join us in your costumes or Halloween outfits and listen to a talk by Jeff Ewelt from ZooMontana. Some of his animal friends will be making an appearance too! Reservations are required. Reservations must be made 24-hours in advance (8/23/18).

In honor of the successes we’ve seen with our senior programs and services in the last year, we are having a Senior Appreciation Ice Cream Social! Come mingle with the team and have some free ice cream while enjoying musical entertainment by Tom Blankenship.

A lunch will be served for the Seniors at 11:30am in the Rimrock Auto Arena. Seniors that want to attend the lunch can get tickets at the meal sites starting on July 23rd. Maximum 4 lunch tickets per person

Fitness Week is all about the opportunity to try new things! Here’s how it works: Step 1: Stop by our front office to sign up and receive your fitness week punch card Step 2: Pick out the classes you want to try (see options on Sepetmber Calendar on Page 3)

Eastern Montana Art and History Tour Interested in learning about the history and art of Eastern Montana? Join us as we take a day long guided tour to Miles City with the following activities: Visiting the famous Range Riders museum, dining at Miles City’s downtown local bakery, the Main Street Grind, and viewing the exhibits at the Waterworks Art Museum. Register to be bused out to the museums where tour guides will take over. This tour will include some walking, but accommodations are available. Lunch will not be provided, however, you are welcome to pack a lunch or purchase food at the Main Street Grind. Refresh the Rims October 20th 2018 The fifth annual Refresh the Rims will be held on Saturday, October 20th, 2018. Come join Billings Parks, students from Montana State University-Billings Outdoor Adventure Leadership Program and community members in an effort to improve one of our defining landmarks. Volunteer Checkin starts at 9:00am at the Billings Community/Senior Center (360 N 23rd St). At check-in there will be coffee, donuts, hot chocolate and muffins. After check-in, volunteers will be introduced to their team leader. The event begins at 9:30am with teams of volunteers fanning out throughout Swords Rimrock Park to clean up, remove graffiti and glass from the trails. Cleanup will conclude on or before 11:30am. To get involved, fill out the volunteer application on our website at BillingsParks.org. Volunteers will receive a free event t-shirt. Quantities are limited, so early registration is encouraged. Ingredients 2 medium-sized yellow summer squash Garlic salt & freshly ground black pepper 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions Place an oven rack in the center position of the oven. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with foil (lightly mist with nonstick cooking spray) OR parchment paper.

Wash and dry the squash, and then cut each one into 1/4-inch thick slices. Arrange the squash rounds on the prepared pan, with little to no space between them.

Lightly sprinkle the squash with garlic salt and freshly ground black pepper. Use a small spoon to spread a thin layer of Parmesan cheese on each slice of squash. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the Parmesan melts and turns a light golden brown.
