Celebrate a birthday at Rose Park Pool during regular business hours. Package includes up to 15 All Day Admissions & Water Slide passes, one hot dog, one 16 oz. soda, a bag of chips and an ice cream sandwich, per participant for $150.00! Interested in gaining certification as a Lifeguard that equips you with the knowledge of life saving skills and water watching strategies? Attend all 3 days to complete Basic Lifeguard Certification requirements, includes Professional Rescuer First Aid/CPR. WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR (WSI) This certified swimming lesson instructor course requires 30 hours in the water focusing on life saving swimming techniques where participants will increase presentation skills, refine swimming strokes and leadership skills. On-line video required prior to water portion. AQUATIC FACILITY OPERATOR (AFO)

This is an advanced, educational training program designed to meet the needs of those managing and operating aquatic facilities. Two day course includes the NRPA’s AFO Manual. Expect an in-depth instruction in all facets of aquatic facility operation and management including: filtration, disinfection, water testing/treatment, design considerations, facility management, risk management, facility troubleshooting, hot tub/spa operation and much more! AQUATICS LIFEGUARDING TOMORROW

GUARD START: LIGEGUARDING TOMORROW GuardStart: Lifeguarding Tomorrow is a program for 12 - 15 year-olds that provides a foundation of aquatic knowlege, leadership and skills for a future as an American Red Cross Lifeguard. The GuardStart curriculum contains multiple units in five categories: prevention, fitness, response, leadership, and professionalism. Participants will participate in numerous lifeguarding duties to prepare them for their future Lifeguard accomplishments. Space is limited to 6 and classes run two weeks (Monday - Friday, from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM). There are no make ups and all participants must be able to swim 25 yds., tread water for 1 minute and swim underwater at least 10 feet. AQUATICS SWIMMING LESSONS Learn to swim this summer! The American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program features six levels of Learn-to-Swim instruction to help swimmers of all ages and abilities to develop their swimming and water safety skills. American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression, designed to give students a positive learning experience. The objective is to teach people to swim and be safe in, on, and around the water. Students will be evaluated on the first day of class and placed into appropriate level with those of similar abilities. The Parks and Recreation Department is offering an opportunity for one-on-one swim instruction. These custom, tailored lessons are designed to meet individual needs of students, allowing the student to progress at their own pace. Have you ever wondered what it's like to breathe underwater? Sign up for Adventure Scuba's Discovery Scuba Diving Experience and find out what scuba diving is really like. Known as the Zumba “pool party”, Aqua Zumba gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout! DOG DAYS OF SUMMER AT ROSE PARK POOL Billings Parks & Recreation is featuring the first ever, Dog Days of Summer at Rose Park Pool on Sunday, 8/23 from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM. Cost is $3.00 per furry friend, adult companions are required, but are not charged. Concession stand will be open. Water friendly toys and life jackets are allowed. Lifeguards will be on duty. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs on the pool deck and lawn. Water lovers of the two-legged type (owners) are not allowed in the pool with their pets for the safety of everyone. Water slides will not be running.

YOUTH CAMPS ADVENTURE CAMP SERIES Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM at North Park Center (6th Ave. N. & 19th St.)

This thrilling day camp for 8 - 15 year olds packs adventure in every week! Weekly themes are sure to please every interest. Billings Parks & Recreation’s Adventure Camp Series focuses on safety while implementing outdoor adventure activities. Our Camp Counselors are certified in American Red Cross CPR/First Aid and adhere to our established camp/bus rules. All transportation is provided by Billings Parks & Recreation buses, equipped with seatbelts and licensed bus drivers. Pack a sack lunch, snacks, plenty of water, sunscreen, swim suit, towel and comfortable walking shoes EACH DAY. All activities are covered by the cost of camp registration. Sending money with campers is done at the parents/guardians discretion. Personal items and electronics strongly discouraged at camp. YOUTH CAMPS ADVENTURE CAMP SERIES June 8 - 12: Imaginarium, a creative week where the campers are encouraged to use their creativity and adventurous side to navigate through each day’s challenges and explorations. Activities include: creative challenges, large construction projects and cooperative play. June 15 - 19 & August 10 - 14: Survivor Challenge, an unique experience that tests campers endurance, attitude, team spirit, wilderness knowledge and resourcefulness. By focusing on teamwork and building unity among ALL campers, everyone is sure to enjoy this thrilling camp. Activities include: small team challenges, historical landmark tours and hiking! June 22 - 26 & July 20 - 24: Ultimate Outdoor Adventure, a mega adventure that exposes campers to the extreme outdoors. There is overnight camping on Thursday night each week (menus and overnight schedule are provided prior to camping trip). Activities include: overnight camping, white water rafting and much more! June 29 - July 3: Zombie Survival Camp, as outrageous as your child’s imagination, this camp will provide creative scenarios that teach life saving survival skills. Gore is limited; however the postapocolypse sensation is explored at great lengths. Activities include: zombie dress, zombie races and zombie challenges. July 6 - 10: Into the Wild, geared towards learning about nature and what it has to offer, this hand’s on camp enlightens campers as to what our great state has to offer. Activities include: Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary, Yellowtail Dam and Pompey’s Pillar. July 13 - 17 & August 3 - 7: Incredible Aquatic Exploration, make a splash this summer with exciting water activities! Water education is provided, as well as exposure to new aquatic experiences. Activities include: white water rafting, snorkeling and water slides! July 27 - 31: Campers versus Counselors, every camper enjoys taking down their supervising adult, and this camp provides the safe environment to accomplish that. Score will be kept and a winner will be recognized at the end of camp. Activities include food challenges, physical skill challenges and knowledge tests. August 17 - 21: Outdoor and Sport safety, as the summer comes to a close, our staff wants to ensure your camper has learned the importance of safety in all activities. This week recaps and provides new skills in regards to outdoor and sport safety. Activities include: water rescue, public safety and sports medicine. Weekly schedules will be sent to participants the week prior to camp. The established daily schedule will be adhered to by all camp staff unless the need arises due to weather or any unforeseen circumstances. If any changes to schedule need to be made, registered participant parents/guardians will be notified as soon as possible.

YOUTH CAMPS PLAYHOUSE SERIES

An active and educational camp designed for 4 - 8 year olds works with the campers during engaging activities to ensure they are moving, learning and developing throughout each day. Each week is assigned a theme to increase interest in learning and exploration. The morning session will focus on early learning objectives through crafts and activities, while the afternoon session will focus on special events and physical activity. Any transportation will be provided by Billings Parks and Recreation busses and licensed drivers. Parents or guardians are required to sign-in and sign-out their camper, as well as complete the mailed consent form by the first day of camp. American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Certified Camp Counselors will follow established camp/bus rules to ensure safety at all times. The weekly camp schedule will be adhered to by the camp staff to the best of their abilities. Any changes due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances will be communicated as soon as possible to participants. Required EACH DAY at camp: sack lunch, snacks, water, sunscreen, bug spray, towel, swimsuit, comfortable walking shoes, water shoes and a change of clothes. Personal items and electronics are discouraged at camp (exception during show & tell). Any allergies to food, sunscreen, bug spray, etc. should be communicated to camp staff. For convenience, enroll your child for only half the day of Playhouse. Identical to the full day option, half day drop-off and pick-up location is at the Zimmerman Center located in Pioneer Park. YOUTH SPORTS YOUTH TENNIS INSTRUCTION The 2015 Billings Parks and Recreation Summer Tennis Program kicks off June 8th with a summer of tennis learning and fun for Billings youth. Once again, the program's goal is to provide tennis activity for all ages and ability levels. Beginning and Intermediate Youth will find lesson groups and tennis play in the Parks Program at Pioneer Park, Rose Park, and Skyview High School. In partnership with Easter Seals Goodwill, Billings Parks and Recreation is offering a camp for individuals affected by autism. This camp will provide engaging and fun outdoor recreational activities to campers that will promote social communication skills, teamwork, and relationship building. In addition, this camp will focus on supporting children with autism to increase their confidence, self-esteem, and practice every day social thinking skills, including proper ways to manage conflict in group situations. The first week will be classroom instruction on expectations and going over the outings planned, followed by 5 weeks of fun activities. The specified activity of the week will depend on how long the session will be. Parents will be required to drop off and pick up at each location and sign their child in and out. If a person's life story is not written down, it can be lost. This 4-week “My Life My Story” program allows each senior participant, along with an accountability partner (buddy), to record their precious memories, including photographs, to document their memorable life events. The program includes a 68-question “My Life My Story” guidebook to facilitate organizing the writer's memories. At the end of 4 weeks, the writer will also receive a beautiful, published, personalized hardbound Storybook that family members will cherish! Each writer will need a family member or friend who has a computer with internet access to be their writing “buddy.” This person must accompany them to the weekly sessions and help enter their photos and data into their online Storybook template. During these weekly sessions, the facilitator will review progress, answer questions, and provide support for the process. Rangers are ambassadors to park users, answering questions and welcoming them to the parks. Rangers volunteer from May - August patrolling parks in pairs and reporting issues to the Parks Department. Trees - Pathways to Preservation Are you interested in learning more about the trees around you? Arbor Day 2015 will take place at Riverfront Park Friday, May 8th. Tree activities will occur throughout the day. In the morning volunteers will work to beautify the park through tree planting, pruning, mulching, fertilizing and cleanup. At the same time, hundreds of 4th graders will rotate through environmental education stations taught by Billing’s professionals. At 12:15 PM the public is invited to attend the formal Arbor Day Ceremony in the center of the park. To get involved, please consider volunteering to help make Arbor Day an incredible celebration of trees. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt and lunch. PARK USE PERMITS

A Park Use Permit is required for any event that is open to the general public and is available for requests to reserve a specific park area for weddings, company picnics or family reunions. Events open to the public include youth sports leagues, concerts, fun runs, and special group events. A $100 permit fee is charged on a per park basis for general permits and is non-refundable. Permits for athletic usage are per field/season and rates vary according to usage. Events open to the public require liability insurance that meets the mandatory guidelines contained in the application. NON-RESIDENT POLICIES:

Various programs may list activity deadlines for registration. Generally the deadline for registration is one week prior to the start of the activity, or session when there are multiple sessions being offered. This enables us to produce and distribute participant rosters to instructors as well as combine low enrollment classes rather than cancel them.

For people who do not reside within the city limits there will be a Non-resident fee of $10 per activity charged in addition to the regular program fee. This fee is to non-refundable, except in the case of a cancelled or filled class which prohibits participation in a program.

ACTIVITY TRANSFER:

Applications are available for low income families to apply for reduced fees for recreation programs. Applicants must be city residents and can receive up to a 75% discount if qualified. Reduced children’s pool passes are also available. Pick up an application in person at the Parks and Recreation Office.

Requests to transfer to a different program activity once registered must be made at least five business days prior to the scheduled starting date. Transfers will be done when possible depending upon enrollment availability.

REDUCED FEE APPLICATIONS:

YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS: The Billings Parks, Recreation and Preservation Foundation and Magic City Blues Scholarship Program are offering scholarships, which are limited and will be made available on a “first come, first served” basis to qualifying applicants. Each child can receive up to a $25 credit or a discount up to 75% towards the program of their choice. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist families that cannot normally afford activities for their children due to economic hardships. This fund is made possible through the generous support of the Magic City Blues Scholarship Program. Applications and complete scholarship guidelines are available at the Parks and Recreation Office.
