Friends Don’t Let Friends Fall

Falls are a common concern, as more than 1 in 3 adults over the age of 65 fall every year. Falls are not a normal part of aging, and research has shown a majority of falls are preventable. The physical therapists at St. Vincent Healthcare are asking for your help in improving the safety of friends and family in your community. Join us to learn ways to help others reduce their risk of falling in order to stay as healthy and independent as long as possible.

During the months of November, December & January, volunteers and their dogs from Pet Partners will stop by the Center for the users to enjoy if they choose. Pet Partners is a volunteer Therapy Animal Program that encourages a human-animal bond that research shows improved physical, social, and emotional health. Come down for a little “puppy love” from a volunteer animal! Check in with the front office for specific dates and times.

John will present during lunch on November 14th from 12:00-1:00pm. Lunch reservations must be made 24-hours in advance. (11/13/18) 8

Retired doesn’t seem to be a fitting description for Carol McGrail, age 72 when hearing all of the ways that she stays busy! Carol has volunteered at the Billings Community and Senior Center since 2016. Her first experience at the Center was completing the Fitness Orientation with Ruth Omland before she was quickly recruited to volunteer in the Gramma’s Attic and shortly after as an Office Assistant. When Carol is not at the Center she can be found either at home with her husband, who she’s known since she was in high school, working part-time as a MetraPark Sky Box Host, volunteering at the Billings Food Bank, or cheering on her grandkids at their sporting events. Carol is one of the friendliest faces at the Center and is quick to help however she is needed. For those that have met her it is easy to tell that Carol would be the perfect host for the Sky Box at the MetraPark and has been doing so for 7 years. Carol’s wisdom shines through as she describes volunteering as a way to “give back to those that have given to you”. If you see her at the Center, stop and say hello, and if you see her at one of the many Billings Central Catholic High School sporting events, stop and cheer, “Go Rams!”
