The crow &
the house an urban tale - photos and text by bill purvis Š2018
A loss,
grief hoards, tangible memories remain, detritus accumulates.
The house on a corner of a street in an affluent suburb.
White curved front, art deco style. Concealed behind trees, fallen branches, and an overgrown garden. The house has fallen into disrepair, the power cut-off. Daily a visitor, the remaining cat is fed, a loaf of bread picked at. Plastic bags, bread tags, tissues, cat food tins and whatever else, accumulate, not yet camouflaged. The bane of disgruntled neighbors, it remains; a memorial, an emotional attachment, a tangible memory. Passing by, walking the dog in the darkness of night, a rustle amongst the undergrowth, a weird growl, the hairs on my neck bristle. What else is there?
