3D PRINTING FOR BEGINNERS What is 3d printing? https://www.3dhubs.com/what-is-3d-printing In the above link you’ll find a great deal of information around 3D printing, starting with the very basics, before diving deeper to give you expert knowledge, that’ll be essential once you decide to get started on this amazing road.

Who is using 3D printing? https://www.3dhubs.com/what-is-3d-printing#who-is-using-3d-printing One of the great things about 3D printing is that it can be beneficial for anyone, regardless of industry or profession. The team at 3DHubs collected some common examples to show how people are using 3D printing and why they chose the technology as their preferred prototyping of manufacturing method for specific uses.

How do the different 3D printing technologies work? https://www.3dhubs.com/what-is-3d-printing#technologies All 3D printing technologies create physical objects from digital designs layer by layer, but each using its own proprietary method.

What materials can be used for 3D printing? https://www.3dhubs.com/what-is-3d-printing#materials Selecting the right 3D printing material for your project is very important. Which material is most suitable is largely dependent on your specific use case. In this section, you’ll find the most common 3D printing materials. Learn more about them, compare them side-by-side and pick yours. You can also skip to this important “live” collection of materials.

3D Printing Materials Guide https://www.simplify3d.com/support/materials-guide/ 3D Printing Materials Guide. TROUBLESHOOTING 3D PRINTING 3D Printing requires 3P’s – Practice – Patience – Perseverance. It may come as a surprise as not everything goes as planned, at least not all the time. So below are some links to the troubleshooting guides, tips and tricks. They cover all issues from a clogged nozzle, right through to why it’s a good idea to get some sleep 

Great guide to troubleshoot Print quality. (Specific to Simplify3d software but the points raised can be applied on most slicers, i.e. 3D printing software applications).

https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubleshooting/ This guide is a great place to start if you are trying to improve the quality of your 3D printed parts. Simplify 3D have compiled an extensive list of the most common 3D printing issues along with the software settings that you can use to solve them. Best of all, the guide uses a large collection of realworld images to make each issue easy to identify when examining your own 3D printed parts. Time to get started!

Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/FixMyPrint/ With close to 50.000 users the 3D printing sub-reddit has a large community of users which makes it a great resource when troubleshooting. If you are trying to hunt down a particular quality issue with a print, there is even a dedicated subreddit called FixMyPrint. Simply upload your images to Imgur and post the link to Reddit and wait for the comments to flood in:

Google+ https://plus.google.com/communities/117814474100552114108 On Google+ there is a large and active 3D printing community. 3D Printing is by far the largest community with over 240.000 members. Well-known experts such as Josef Prusa, Thomas Salander, Nils Hitze, Brook Drumm and many others hang out here. Within the community there is a sub-section called Questions/Help, the go-to place for 3D printing problems and solutions:

Wise Words from a man who knows http://richrap.blogspot.lu/2011/10/art-of-failure-when-3d-prints-go-wrong.html Renowned 3D printing expert RichRap wrote a post on 'The Art of failure – When 3D prints go wrong and lessons from failure'. While this may be less of a troubleshooting guide, we still feel it deserves to be listed here since it contains some interesting lessons-learned.
