The project is a pedestrian bridge next to the 6th October Bridge in Cairo, Egypt. Although the citizens of Cairo often Walk and Worship on both banks of the Nile River, the original bridge only has a single traffic function. Therefore, we hope to provide a new pedestrian bridge with Living Function for the public. As a result people can have a better experience here.
The design of the bridge is expected to provide an access for people to get closer to the Nile River, so the concept of Weak Connection and the method of blanking are used to let people contact with nature and interact with the Nile River in the middle of the bridge. In the evening, when the cool wind on the Nile River blows through the building, and people will feel the natural breath, alleviating the discomfort caused by the hot climate.
In order to reduce the impact of buildings in the environment of the Nile River, the bridge does set No-Pier in the Nile River. In order to ensure the rationality of the scheme, the structure is calculated and optimized by Karamba3D, a parametric structural analysis software.
