DESCRIPTION THE RHYTHM OF AQUA
Topic: Design of a small park Date: Apr. 2011 to June 2011 Location: HZAU WH, HB, China Status: Landscape Design Tutor: XiaXin Qiu Hongfei
The site is an old nursery in campus. With the accomplishment of a new nursery and many new green houses, this old one tends to be dilapidated. As the practice of our design course, our mission is to turn this place into a small park that can be a place for surrounding people to relax. And the characters of the site and the behavior, schedual of potential users should be taken into consideration. 03

BACKGROUND ANALYSIS
SITE ANALYSIS
The site is located in the northwest of campus, which is little far from students' dormitory areas and teaching areas. Surrounded by several residential buildings, a hospital, a primary school and hotels. Also, it is just right beside one of our campus' main road, so there are many pedestrians and vehicles passing by.
200m 100m
According to it's service radius, it's main target users are surrounding residents, pupils and pedestrians that passing by. Although there are some greenland and a square near the site, they mainly provide relax space for students that in teaching area. Such a little park is quite necessary to ease pressure from teaching area. At the same time, the site is quite far from lake and water landscape is scarse in our campus, this condition also provide base in my design.

SITE ANALYSIS Some conclusion can be drawn from the site analysis. Because main road and flow of people are in the north and south side of site, entrance should be set in these directions. But considering capacity of this park, I decide to set the main entrance in the direction of a sub-road to control visitors that from main road. And current situation is that a wall stands between residential area and site. In order to construct connection between site and resident building, I think wall should be torn down and a entrance should be set in this direction.

I hope people in this park can enjoy the peace that brought by the still artificial lake, the pleasant cool of breeze and the fragrance of lotus. Visiter's experience can be enriched from multiple aspects like visual sense, sense of hearing, and sense of touch, etc. Many activities can be done here, and the park can meet different needs of different users. Vegetation
From this part of analysis, condition can be affirmed that this park will be mainly used by residents, retired old men, pupils and pedestrians. How to meet their needs and design place to organize activities is worth considering. And because the site's terrian is hollow, which is easy to cause water logging problem, some measures should be taken to solve this problem.
The main element that I want to use in this design is water. By using several element that can arouse people's impression of water. The element that I choose are lotus, duckweed, reeds, and waterwave, some transform to the elements in the general plan in order to form space and control the style of this design and some are chosen as plant materials in this little park. Route is also part of composition of a park, apart from it's basic function traffic, it also helps to organize space and classify nodes. Tree layer and herb layer are fundamental elements in park, they divide space, bring various experience to visiters. In this design, trees grows scarse in front part while grows in groups in latter part.

From the information that collected, some conclusion can be drawn. Because of the site's terrian is hollow, the best way to solve this problem I think is intensify this charactor, and broaden the area of water body, which is a economical way and respect the charactor of site. From another point of view, water garden is lack in this campus especially surrounding area, residents need a place to relax and have entertainment, so design such a little park is necessary, and the style can bring visitors cosy feeling. Considering park itself, choosing suitable plant materials is a key factor in planting strategy, and plants species diversity should be paid attention because it can increase community stability and will reduce the difficulty of managing park. Another point is space type, different space type can bring people different feelings, and have different funcitons, for instance space are bring more confidentiality and security and open space is more suitable for some public activities. These different types of space can be created via terrian and the enclosing of plants and trees.

About container
Collect
This is just an idea, a large flared container can collect a mount of rain water, and in this container, filter has been prepared. Rainwater can get cleaned there and gardener can get water directly from this container. What is more, transparent regions can tell you the amount of remained water.
Reuse Filter Tank
Pump
Wood land
In this park, plant commnity can be classified into three types and they can combine each other to garuantee the sustain of park. Grass land mainly choose cool season grasses like Poa pratensis L, consider the weather here, and they can change colour seasonally. Shrub land and wood land should consider native tree species in advance, for they can adapt to local environment better. And large trees can shelter sunlight for some shrubs that are fond of half shade environment. At the same time, shrub can add height and interest to the landform.

DESCRIPTION THE CRYSTAL OF LIFE
Topic: Technology pavilion design Date: Apr. 2010 to June 2010 Location: HZAU WH, HB, China Status: Landscape architectural design Tutor: Liu qianru
The site of this technology pavilion is beside our teaching area and there are many students passing by. The design positioning is to design a technology pavilion for students in our campus that can exhibit students' creative work and encourage their innovation ability. The architecture design is a branch course of our major, and the cirriculum's main purpose is to train our ability of sculpting, dividing and organizing space, which are quite fundamental abilities for a designer. 15

DESIGN INTRODUCTION This technology pavilion is designed for exhibiting student's creative work in science and technology field. And the inspiration of pavilion comes from the structure of glycan, because many new explorations in our university are in the microcosmic field of life science. The abstract figure of glycan is hexagon and this element is applied in the design of the architecture and it's exterior environment.
Main exhibiting hall
The pavilion is a building of two stories. And there are two exhibition halls connected by a corrider, which aims to enrich visitor's visiting routes and experience. And multi-media lecture hall is set in second floor, where students and teachers can report and show their new creation and exploraion. And plateform is set out the pavilion, providing visiters a place to communicate with exterior environment. Plantform can be used to hold some open-air exhibition, and can be a excellent place to have a rest.

PERSPECTIVE
ROOF GARDEN DESIGN I design this green roof for several reasons: first, green roof can help to uphold and strengthen roof's ability of heat preservation and insulation, second, green roof can retard deterioration of water proof material because grass can shelter the direct sunlight. And the design of green roof comes from the plane design of pavilion.
EXTERIOR ENVIRONMENT
MODEL Material: white plastic board for roof blue transparent plastic board for wall plastic sticks for frame and rial paper with green powder for lawn green foam material for shrub
The design of exterior environment of pavilion is still in accord with the style of pavilion, and the plane design just like extended sugar chains. However, in contrast of the glass and iron material, exterior environment stress the beauty of nature, and trees can soft the edge of building. A green house and a kiosk are set outside the pavilion, providing visiters places to have a rest and choose another way to visit this place. Their experience can be enriched by visiting different places in different ways.

Considering the environment on the roof and the loading capacity of roof, I choose some herb plants that need a lot of sunlight and they can bear arid condition. Most of these plants are flower ground cover plants. And their flowering phase are scattered in three seasons, so lasting flower viewing is possible. The grass species of lawn are cold season grass, like Poa. pratensis. L, Agrotstis. palustris Huds, which can vary their colour with the change of season.

Both of its east and south are scientific institutions. So the style of the environment design should represent some element of science, and the scientific research of these buildings can be the potential users. West of the site remains to be part of the village and fields, which are closer to the state of nature. This means some measures should be taken to solve the relationship between nature and artifacts. In the north is a hospital, patients and doctor may choose the opposite place to relax, however the road between the site and hospital may be obstacle of accessibility. At the same time, the site is located near one of the main roads of campus, how to solve the problem that some pedestrians may choose this place to stay for a while is worth considering.
