In this tutorial, we show you how to change the default download location for Google Chrome and Firefox. When you download something from the internet using one of these browsers, your files will be saved in the default download folder. The default is C:\Users\< User name>\Downloads. Note: Your operating system could be in a different partition. For instance, if it is in the D partition, your download would be D:\Users\< User name>\Downloads. Google Chrome Google Chrome is most used browser, so we will start the tutorial by showing you how to change the default folder in the Google Chrome browser.
First, go to the right top corner of the Google Chrome Window and select this icon: window will show up. Press â&#x20AC;&#x153;Settingsâ&#x20AC;?.
The Settings
After you press “Settings”, the following window will show up. In order to change the folder destination, we will have to press "Show advanced options". You'll find that the bottom of the page.
After you press “Show advanced options”, the following window will show up. Under the download setting, you’ll find the download location. Press “Change” to change the default folder to your preferred folder.
Mozilla Firefox According to statistics, Mozilla Firefox is the second most used browser. So we'll continue with Mozilla Firefox. Changing the location in Firefox is as easy as Google Chrome. To change the default download location you can go to the Tools menu then the Options submenu. Or you can do the same as in the following picture.
After that, the following window will show up. Under the download setting, you’ll find the "Browse… “Button. Select your preferred location or you can select the “Always ask me where to save files” option.
