Touch/Mouse Mode
Luckily for all you tablet-lovers, Microsoft Office 2013 is tablet-friendly. In Word 2013, you can choose if you want to work in Mouse Mode or in the Touch Mode. When you enable Touch Mode, you will gain extra space around items. The extra space gained improves accuracy and user-friendliness when using your finger to select options or menu items. However, when you work on Mouse Mode the window looks the same as usual. In this tutorial we will enable Touch Mode for Word 2013, keep in mind that other Office applications such as Powerpoint and Excel work the same way.
How do i enable Touch mode in Word 2013 ? 1. Find the Quick Access toolbar, then click the drop-down arrow. After that select the Touch/Mouse Mode option from the drop-down menu.
After you select the Touch/Mouse option the Touch/Mouse Mode command will appear on the Quick Access Toolbar, as you can see in the picture below.
If you select the Touch/Mouse Mode command you will get a window that will ask you if you want to optimize spacing for mouse or touch. If you choose the mouse, spacing would be optimized for the mouse, which means you will get the standard ribbon and commands. If you choose the Touch option you will notice that extra space is added between commands. This will make commands easier to tap with your fingers.
Comparison between Touch Mode and Mouse Mode
As you can see in the next picture, there is extra space between commands, so your finger won’t touch two commands at the same time.
And in this picture, as you can see the space is normal.
Note: You can disable the Touch/Mouse mood by following the same procedure as when we enabled the Touch/Mouse mode, but this time deselect this option.
