How to Repair Windows 7 It probably happened to you while you were in the middle of something important; your screen turned blue and your computer restarted because something was preventing your operating system to work correctly. Or maybe your laptop was in sleep mode and now it won't start up again. Your operating system won't start up because something is preventing it. In this tutorial we will explain step-by-step how to repair Windows 7 when something is preventing it from starting up. You will need a Windows 7 CD. Step 1: Turn on your computer and insert a Windows 7 CD. After that, press “F12″ to boot the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM.
Note: Not every computer uses the “F12" button to boot the CD/DVD ROM. Different buttons are used but “F12” is the most common. Another way of booting from the CD/DVD ROM is to set the boot priority in BIOS.
After you press the “F12” button, the following window will show up. Choose to start from your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM driver and press “Enter”. In my case my DVD-ROM is “MATSHITADVD-RAM”.
After you press “ Enter” your computer will start to boot from CD-ROM/DVD-ROM. You will get the following window: “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD."
After you have pressed any key on your keyboard, the Setup will start loading files like in the following image:
Step 2: After you have finished with Step 1,the following picture will show up. In this window select “Language to install ”, “Time and currency format “ and “Keyboard or input methods” and press “Next” to continue. To continue repairing your computer press “Repair your computer"
After you have pressed “Repair your computer", Windows 7 setup will lead you to another step. If you think that something is preventing your computer from starting, then press Startup Repair. If the first option does not work then choose the second one, which is System Restore. Using System Restore, you can fix a lot of problems and prevent your computer from starting up. There are a few other options you can use but in this tutorial we will only cover the first two options.
Step 3: This window will show up. In this window choose a restore point and press “Next”. After you have selected “Next” wait for the System Restore to finish its job. After that your Windows 7 might start up again.
So, now you know how to repair your Windows 7 operating system by using a Windows 7 CD. Either by using System Restore or Start Up Repair, you are all set!
