Windows has detected an IP address conflict A common annoyance is when you can't connect to the internet because of the famous error "Windows has detected an IP address conflict”. A typical way to fix this error is to restart the PC and the router. If this doesn't work, Command Prompt (CMD) can be used to renew the IP Addresses or to release the addresses. In this tutorial we are going to show you how to fix the error "Windows has detected an IP address conflict" using CMD. Step 1: To open CMD, go to the start menu and write “CMD” then press “Enter”. Alternatively, you can just hold the Window button on your keyboard and press “R” to open “Run”, then write “CMD” and press “Enter”.


The following window will show up.


Step 2: After you have opened CMD, write the code: Ipconfig /? – This is used to show the whole syntax of ipconfig. In the picture below, you can see how to renew all adapters. You can also release all matching connections.


To renew all adapters write the following code: Ipconfig/renew This is how CMD window will look after you press "enter".


If you want to release your IP Address, then write the following code: Ipconfig /release

Note: Your internet will stop working after you release the IP Addresses. You will have to renew the IP Addresses by using Ipconfig/renew. After you release the IP Addresses, renewing IP Addresses might take a few seconds.
