Page layout When you create a document in Word, it’s likely you will have to change the page layout settings. Page layout is the part of the graphic design that deals with the arrangement of visual elements. In Word 2013 the page layout includes the page orientation, margins, and size. In this tutorial we will cover just page orientation and margins.
Page Orientation In word 2013, there two orientations you can choose from: landscape and portrait. In case you don’t know, landscape means the page is oriented horizontally and the portrait means the page is
oriented vertically.
How to do I change the page orientation? 1. Go to the Page Layout menu and press the orientation Command.
After you press the orientation command you will get two options: Portrait or Landscape
Choose the orientation you want and your page orientation will be changed.
Page margins
What is the margin? A margin is the space between the text and the edge of your document. Every version of word has a default margin value which is one inch. You can change the default margin to your needs.
How to do I change the margins? 1. Go to the Page layout menu and under the page layout menu select the margins
Command, like in the picture below.
You can choose a margin from the list or you can customize the margins by pressing the custom margins at the end of the page. After that the margins of the document will be changed.
2. The "Page Setup" dialog will show up. Change the values for each margin, and then click OK.
After you are done changing the values for the above fields press ”OK”. The margins of the document will be changed. Note: If you want to set the margins to default, you can press “Set As Default” button at the bottom of the Page Setup dialog.
