Page 1

There are a lot of useful configuration you can change in Windows 7. One of them is to prevent users to Shut Down and restart your computer. This is especially useful if you have an internet cafe and other environments where you have a lot of computers. In this tutorial we are going to show you how you can prevent access to Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate in “Start Menu and Windows security screen.

Step 1:

Open start menu and write “Gpedit.msc” then press “Enter” or you can go to “Run” into start menu and write “Gpedit.msc” and press “OK” like the following window.

After you that the following window will show up.

Step 2: In order to Remove and prevent access to Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate. We have to go to Administrative Templates then select “Start Menu and Task Bar like in the following window.

To edit this setting double click and the following window will show up. The default setting is not configured which will show the Shut Down and other options in Start Menu. The same effect has the Disable option. To prevent access to Shutdown, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate you need to enable this option.

Note: When you enable this setting, these commands won’t be accessible in Start Menu, neither in the Windows security screen, which appears when you press CTERL+ALT+DELETE.

After you are done altering these setting , you can test if Shutdown and other Commands that we mentioned above are removed from Start Menu.
